Officejet Pro 8600 cartridges: Cartridges Office labeled "CARTRIDGE SETUP" for model 8600

I bought a pack of refill cartridges, but they are all labeled "CARTRIDGE SETUP" and there is no mention of those outside of the box.   Any help?

Were these packaged in boxes of HP retail?  They came from an authorized HP provider?  Cartridges of configuration can not be used once the initial configuration of cartrdiges have been used in the printer.  I suggest to go back to your dealer for a replacement, or contact HP (if they were in packs of HP and an authorized dealer).  I suggest that you keep the original packaging.

The printer will not print anything (including black and white which is my default setting), at least that I have installed a new yellow ink cartridge.  He says that the cartridge is exhausted and must be replaced before printing.    I have black and white printing color cartridges? Is there a solution? Thank you very much.

    DavidDavid salvation,

Yes, you will need to replace the yellow cartridge to continue printing. Here's a good explanation of the design of the print mechanism, and what is needed to keep them in good working condition. Your printer is user replaceable print head. With this printer's ink lines that need to be filled in ink in this way that the print head should not be clogged jets in turn cause poor print quality problems.

Written by Bob_Headrick on the wire note: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Other-Printing-Questions/Officejet-8500-won-t-print-Black-ink-only-if-other-colors-are/m-p/1706581#M67899

HP, as other printer manufacturers, offers you with permanent print heads printers requiring ink for all colors, avoid the print heads.  HP, like some other manufacturers, also offers printers with user replaceable print heads.  These may of may not require ink in all colors in print, even though damage may occur if the print from the cartridge empty.  Finally, HP as some other manufacturers also offers printers with the printhead into the ink supply.  He is replaced at each change of cartridge.  These printers will happily print with a diet low, empty or many deleted completely same models.

When you buy your next printer (from HP or from another manufacturer) be sure that you understand what is the type of printer and choose one that fits your needs.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Damaged ink cartridge message

"" After the release of a paper jam, I have received messages to replace the ink - black, magenta, yellow - cartridges (which I did), then received message that the black cartridge "appears to be damaged"-it's genuine HP and straight out of the box. • OfficeJet PRO 8600: Exhausted color cartridges

I work at home and use the Officejet PRO 8600 to make black copies of documents that I print on my HP laserjet printer or other documents only. In very rare occasions, I'll print of the officejet.

I put the oficejet to print in black only. However, after a period of time (6 monthe or almost) the printer will specify that the color cartrides are exhausted and I need to order an other muti-pack.

Why the color cartridges must be used upwards if I do not use color cartridges? In any case to avoid?

    Thank you

There is little ink used in black and all colors at startup and when printing to prevent clogging of the nozzles.

The document described here how the ink is used.

There are a few considerations to minimize the ink used during the interview:

    • Always keep the printer plugged in to an outlet.  If an external switch (e.g. a switch power socket) is used the printer will use more ink start.
    • Do not run cleaning cycles of the façade or the Toolbox of the computer, they are rarely necessary and use in any color and black ink.

    Hi @Paula15,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you have found a cartridge problem message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I'm happy to discuss this issue for you!

Please have a look through this guide, an 'ink cartridge failure', not 'compatible ink cartridges', or 'Ink cartridge problem' Error Message appears on the printer. You will want to ensure that you are using genuine HP cartridges does not, and if one of your colors is low or empty, they will need to be replaced as well. Check out this guide, printing with depleted cartridges, for more information.

Hope this information is useful and have a beautiful day!

In addition, you can check the level of ink on the screen of porinter as shown below:

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Help: I changed the cartridges and they are locked (JO 6800)

I had a few problems print quality with my OfficeJet Pro 8600 and I changed the ink cartridges (950/951XL). Unfortunately, the problems are remained so, instead of buying a new printer head, I bought a new printer: a 6015 OfficeJet at Staples. First of all, I had to install the set up of the cartridges but pass them the old printer, which I had already brought to the depot of garbage to new XL versions. And guess what? The cartridges were locked! Now, I have to remove the locks in the old broken printer (what is left) or I can throw them-which is a shame because I bought the new 8615 especaially because it uses the same (expensive) XL cartridges. Please HP: help me. A loyal customer.

Any cartridge that is installed in your Officejet Pro 8600 would not be usable in another printer, including a different of Officejet Pro 8600 8600 Pro Officejet "cartridge protection" was defined.  This cannot be reset, even in the original printer.  Turning off the cartridge of the printer's built-in web server protection will not affect future cartridges installed in the machine.

Given the circumstances, I suggest call HP and ask if they can help to.  If they decline please post here and I'll see if I can help with a different approach.

You can disable the protection of the cartridge in your Pro Officejet 8615 for the future.

  • How do you replace the ink cartridge in my Officejet Pro 8600?

The mechanism of cartridge is a little different in the Officejet Pro 8600 compared to previous models of HP printers.  The cartridges are spring instead of the snap-in cartridges previous style.

There is a video, see below, available which shows how to install and replace the cartridges in the 8600.

HP also provided a document containing pictorial information on how to change these cartridges out.  Click on the link below to access this document.
