OLD DRIVE DATA ACCESS DENIED WHEN ENSLAVED TO THE NEW SYSTEM

Hi all

HD failed a friend into her laptop, but after he enslavement to my laptop I was able to recover all of its intellectual property. I've moved all its directory tree original Windows in its own folder on the same drive. This thing any way that he place the disk would not mingle with old data.

Since he has already replaced the drive into his laptop, I decided to use the old drive as additional external storage by placing it in a USB connected housing, he would not have to reformat the drive until he was able to cross [on their own] and make sure he got everything.

When I connect the drive to my laptop I have total rights.

When he connects to his laptop computer, some files [most] are not accessible; that he doesn't have rights to other accounts that have been created when it was his key motivation.

I think that since it has USER rights on his laptop [it has a computer programmer who don't give him Admin rights] and it's practically the same configuration, except for the new drive, these files on the old HD are always locked by administrator rights, even if the drive is now only used for additional external storage.

Question [finally]:

Is it possible to remove/unlock the Admin rights for accounts that were created when the disk is the disk to boot Windows?

Kind regards!

To give the control is a two-step process. Take ownership and then to give permissions.

Owner of a file allows the owner to change permissions even if they do not have the authorization to do so. It's the only thing that made property. The person who creates an object owns the object. For admins, the objects that are created are the property of administrators, not the individual.

Administrator more common and more powerful special power is to take ownership of objects, that they were not allowed to.

You need start exploring as administrator to Start - All Programs - Accessories - made Windows Explorer right click and choose run as administrator.

He must right click files/disc interested - Properties - Security - Advanced button - property tab - Edit - tick Replace owner on Sub containers and objects button - select a user (should be group of administrators or yourself) - then Ok your way out.

Now, you give permission to access the files.

Right-click new - folder Properties - Security - Advanced - tab permissions - Edit button - select the account - check the two checkboxes - button - button Advanced - Search now button Add - select yourself or your want to have ticks - Ok button - group full control access in the list. OK your way out.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

  • "Access denied" when opening files on my 1 TB HARD drive

Well, then I'll start from the beginning.

I have a Seagate 1 TB HDD, I use it for recording with my HDPVR and all my video editing effects and more. Well, on my old computer, Windows XP, I got some weird settings there that all my encrypted files. I tried to put it off, but he wouldn't.
In any case, I got a new laptop, it's an ASUS with Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm trying to use some of the files that I used my old computer and put on it.
Well, when I open pictures and videos it gives me an error message. To summarize the message because it is different for different types of files. Basically it's saying that I cannot access the files because I do not have the right permissions. With .txt files it won't let me save.
I already did the thing where you go to properties, security, etc.

  • Drive access denied when opening PDF files

I noticed this on adobe Reader Versions XI and DC. What happens is whenever someone tries to open a pdf file that has name of file path is greater than 217 characters they will receive the error 'Access denied.' rename the file or move it to a path that has character < = 216 characters users can then open. If you try to save to the location it will appear to have saved, will throw any errors, does not save everything simply.

I upgraded the drive to the new generation of DC. Tested on a new installation of Windows 8.1, I had at my disposal and tested it on all computers 15ish which give the same result. With different PDF documents are both on the internet and made by me using
    Acrobat.

    A few notes.

This only happens on the network drives.

I have access to all the locations of readers, that I tested.

I had another user test this thus giving the same results.

If I add my UNC path name of the file instead of drive letters, the amount is greater than 254.

For example, if the path of the file is H:\My network Drive\Somearbitraryfolders\filename_Greaterthan217.pdf Its always less than the 254 that windows gives to us, but if I add my \\domain\public\drivename\Somearbitraryfolders\filename_Greaterthan217.pdf UNC path so this eqauls more than 254.

So even if I can move files to this location by going through drive letters, stick them in, all that Jazz. As the reader is concerned it is the limit of windows, and may not be able to do something with it.

If the Player looks at the UNC path instead of drive letters?

If so is there a way for him to watch the drive letters?

A quick edit. I just found this

Known issues | Acrobat DC, CD player

Problem: error access denied when you try to open the PDF file of the symlink via UNC path [3844582]

So, I'm going to assume that the answer to my question is no. All that I can do is hope for a update or tell my users not to do ridiculously long paths.

  • How can I migrate my old synchronization data to the new system when I signed in devices

I just reformat the hard drive of my computer and reinstalled Windows and Linux. Now that I have installed and updated, Firefox wonder to migrate to the new synchronization system they have. Problem is, I still want to be able to connect to the old system just to be able to get my favorites so I can migrate to the new system.

I always sync my key and the connection information for the old system, but I just want to know how to access it once for the information available to me. I can handle everything from there.

Hello, in this case you'd probably have to use a workaround and download the previous firefox version, disable the automatic update for the moment (in options > advanced > update), bind it to the old account synchronization and upgrade after you successfully restore your data in this way...

Install an older version of Firefox

  • Access denied when you try to edit BOOT. INI.

I was using Norton Ghost to clone a drive for one of my clients.  The clone has failed for some reason any.  After powered my system down to remove the two discs I was working with my system turns on no longer.  I get the NTOSKRNL. EXE missing error.  I decided to take my hard drive to another computer to check the boot.ini file.  The other system is Windows 7.  I get ACCESS DENIED when I United Arab Emirates, the attrib command to reset the attributes S & H.  I have to take ownership of the file.  Can someone help me?

Why don't put you your XP drive afflicted and fix it using the XP Recovery Console?

The situation is usually very simple to solve without moving from your HARD drive to another computer - and how you can fix this if you didn't have another computer to move to-reinstall XP from scratch or 'try' a repair installation?   If you had any XP installation CD?  (The Uuless Ghost FUBAR had somehow your Windows installation)

You don't have a Recovery Console CD?  Make one following the instructions on this link:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic276527.html

If the NTOSKRNL. EXE is really missing, or even suspect, that's just replace it by using the Recovery Console.  It is in many other places on your HARD drive - just copy in a replacement and be on your way.

If you have doubts about your boot.ini, just rename or delete (rename boot.ini.bak boot.ini).  XP doesn't have a boot.ini file to start in a general single partition configuration.  It will complain, but still boot without one if all the other pieces are in place.  Your question of the NTOSKRNL. EXE missing error is unlikely to have anything to do with the boot.ini anyway, but you can try things if you wish.

If you want to take the right of a folder/file on a drive that has been moved to another computer, to implement this article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/308421

I know not if attrib works the same in Windows 7, but XP, you type a command as the start, run or from a command prompt:

    attrib - shr c:\boot.ini

It would be 'less' (remove) the attributes system, hidden and read-only.

Here's a boot.ini file General who can help as an example, or after the content of yours, and we can take a look.

    [boot loader]

    Timeout = 5

    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS

    [operating systems]

Kerisis, when you open a document, make a few changes, save it, date will be automatically updated. However, creation date won't change. You can check this by clicking on the file, select Properties, on the general tab, you will find the dates of access created, modified.

My computer with two hard drives and 2 starting systems has the car crash in the solid state. When I got the new drive and tried to restore from time capsule, I lost some data. How can I see what backups are on the time capsule? My laptop is also saved to the time capsule. Everything is in 'Data' when I look through the Airport utility. I think that the information that I've lost are still there since I was a Capsule 3 to.

Time Machine backup to a sparsebundle.

The sparsebundle will use the share name of computer. So, it should be obvious who is your Macbook and that is your Macpro.

Open the sparsebundle in Finder and keep open the subfolders until you get to the backup of each separate hard drive...

You has of course set the exclusion in Time Machine?

By default, Time Machine will exclude your second drive unless you have included it. Did you?

Once you get to this level during the backup, you can do a full restore manually whenever you want.

I get "access denied" when you try to add the 4543BD to my diagram. This component has been added since a previous version. I use Multisim version 12.0.0 student edition.

    Hi Diarra,

I checked my database and the 4543 isn't in the student edition. If you open a drawing that was created in a version more recent as the education edition and copied the part to your database, when you place this part, you will get the access denied message.

Attached is a diagram with the part, you can open it and build you circuit around it.
