Old MacKeeper - must - I unload it?

I just transferred all the stuff from my iMac of 10 years to my new iMac El C, which means that my old copy of MacKeeper came. I started reading the AV protection because Best Buy has included a free copy of Webroot with this Mac, and after I installed it, I started to wonder what I had done. I uninstalled it (AFAIK) using the lines suggested by one of the smart people who responded q in these forums.

Then, mute.

But reading, I started to think I should get rid of MacKeeper too. I've never had problems with it, as far as I know, and he always found a bunch of useless stuff on my old Mac and already some on the new (PC architecture). But do I need?

So should I uninstall MacK? I didn't buy the updates, the version I have is old, several years if this matter. I know that it means that there no any idea of contemporary virus.

Thank you!

Gail

  • Why KB2538242 etc. must require the old files vcredist.msi (to uninstall the old stuff)?

First of all, some "background story":
The old facilities must be uninstalled with their files vcredist.msi of origin before the end of the new facility. Is he missing the old files, .msi, Microsoft Update still believes that the update is successful, which in fact is unfinished, but simply "cancelled successfully. This is the real cause of constantly repeated same updates KB2538242 etc., appear. I had this problem and manually downloaded several vcredist package old version and uninstalled those corresponding to my system, but there is still the KB2467175 one which the download link was dead. In the end, I can't yet to complete installation of the update.

Now the questions: why updates must rely on old packages in installation? Why can they not do the job on their own? (That is anyway to work around this problem and more) a reinstallation of the system, or b) hide this update?

Try this if you are using Win XP.  Install "Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x 86) http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3387.  Then run the run the KB2538242 update.

I found all the other 'remedies' MS and others do not work.  The problem is the original distribution is damaged or missing and needs to be reinstalled before the update will take.  At least, that was my problem and how to solve it.

Restoration of old keychain after resetting the default keychain.

I have "reset my default keychain" in Keychain Access after learning that he was the new version of "first aid" on the update OS X El Capitan.

He said that a new keychain will be saved by default and moved my old side (but not deleted)

I want to restore my old bunch who was moved aside but can't seem to find all the information on how to do it.

    Thank you very much

The old keychain must be in ~/Library/keychains.  Rename the old keychain back to login.keychain.  If you do not know the password for the keychain of old connection then you will not be able to unlock it.  The old login Keychain password is different from the user account password, you'll want to change the corresponding password.

If the installation provided with your Windows computer discs was preinstalled on the computer - it is OEM and cannot be moved. You can move Windows to another computer if you buy the retail version.

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • Old laptop will not refresh

Window Vista Home Basic 2006, 32 bit OS

This laptop is old, but must always be functional!  Tried to update ie browser, got the error code that my OS is so old, he cannot perform the update... should update the OS.  Tried to update Windows dozens of times since then (in my Start menu and Chrome, b/c windows and ie are currently 'inconsistent').

START/COMPUTER/PROPERTIES/Windows Updates I have chosen to update Service Pack 1 (aparently necessary until I can upgrade to SP2)

SP1 downloads, I get the message "success."  I check for new available updates, hoping to see the SP2, but there is nothing.  Then, after several minutes SP1 appears again as a download available 'important '.  WTF?

I also tried manually download SP1 from Microsoft.  2-3 hours of downloading, always ending in 'Fail - Network Error' 99%

I'm so frustrated.  Please don't tell me my laptop is out of date and I need to buy something new.  I want just the software to work as expected.

    Thank you

    In order...

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner. Delete everything is found.

    Reset.

Download the tool (save) system update and install/run it. Choose the right one for you:

  • can I recover my old data in windows vista

I instaled a driver restore cd & sudnly pc restart is reinstaled my windows vista & I lost my data all now I can recover my data if I have no bakup

    Hi hamitkhurana

There is no way for help us to you, if you did a system recovery using the recovery media thinking that it was a driver CD and now your data has disappeared, we cannot help you.  Matt is correct because you should contact the manufacture of your computer for information on this subject.  They will be too not be able to recover your data.  Our recommendation to their contact is for information about the CD of 'Driver' against the recovery CD.

I'm sorry, you've lost your data, but there is nothing that this Forum you can do for.  May I suggest in future create you backups of your data on DVD or disc, hard DRIVE or a backup Online Service.

We try to 'no' push you aside.  If the recovery of disk has been run and your data are now gone, we have no way to recover your data.  Where was originally your data?  If your data is 7 years old, you must have had it on another backup or system support that Vista was only for 2 years.  Did you transfer data from an old system and not to make a backup?

  • Validation with 5610 re-setup error

Hello.  Take a deep breath and I'm leaving...

I have a 5610 which worked perfectly with my computer and Windows XP until the computer crashed.  I had to replace almost all of the Interior and therefore had to go back to square one.  The man who fixed the computer reinstalled Windows XP but must have SP3 in the machine.  My old version must have been SP2.  I think so!

Obviously, I had to reinstall a lot of software to get back up and working again.  No matter how hard I try now I can't get the software of HP Image Zone of re - install.  He tells me when I try there is a validation issue with hpz01.exe and c:\windows\hpoins07.dat Setup.  There is a six-digit number that follows it.   The system has tried several things including a self fix but it keeps telling me it does not work.

The other interesting thing to note, it is that when I did my twice weekly scan with McAfee stalls hpz files in the drive and won't spend hours.  I have reflected on the disc and you can see no visible fault with it.  It has not been damaged in any way.

I wonder if anyone would know what the message means and if it is a corrupted how disk download software from the HP support site.

I'll be very grateful if someone can answer that I am waiting and waitng and waiting to get this bit to scan the computer fixed so that I can submit an article for publication.

    TF.

    P. S.

The self-test and all document processing to hang in the print queue, and I can print a self-test using the keys on the printer page somehow.  Also I can copy any image that is located on the glass plate, but when I press the scan button it says that there is fault and go to documentation that gives me no will at all.  I don't know about the fax that it is rarely used and there is no way to test except to say that I don't get an error message when I choose this option.

    Phew.  That's all.  Thank you.

    Hi c0rnel

Doing that, got the T shirt but not printer HP Image Zone!

I even went as far as unplugging USB and disconnect the system from the wall outlet when the computer was turned off.

    Thanks for advise him.

I spent all morning on the phone and then McAfee who say that it is not their problem but Windows XP - I think that it's either a Active X that will not allow McAfee or is that SP3 doesn't online.

Sound like I know what I'm talking about, but not really.

    Thanks Tf.
