Omni 10 camera

Omni 10 camera does not work as it says that the camera is used by another application? any other apps do seem to be open or using a camera? is this a known issue?

Hi ghbwegian, welcome to the Forums of HP. If your camera says that it is in use by another application, a program has seized control of it and do not let go. Try to restart your Tablet first and see if that fixes it.

If this does not help, try to restore your WebCam drivers using this method:
Using Recovery Manager to restore the software and drivers (Windows 8)

If you are still having trouble, can you give us the exact model of your 10 Omni?

  • HP Omni 10 Webcam does not

    Hello

I have a HP Omni 10 with Windows 8.1.  Recently, I discovered that my webcam does not work.  Whenever I press the camera application on the start menu, it gives me the message "to start, connect a camera."  I read a few solutions to go to Device Manager and uninstall and then reinstall the device, but I can't find the webcam in the Device Manager either.

So I guess it has been uninstalled some how.  If this is the case, can someone please tell me how to reinstall, or if it is a totally different question?  Thank you!

@KCPat - there are several possible reasons for the application of your Omni to camera does not, so perhaps more time than just 'fixing' to find the exact cause. On my own Omni (with devices of work) there's no driver with 'Caméra' in its name. However, when you scroll through the list of drivers, you may identify one or more marked as disabled. The list is presented initially with categories is collapsed, then look inside any category showing a minus sign (-) rather than a Plus (+) next to it. The task manager can also reveal some startup items that may be present but disabled.  Whenever you disable or re-enable the drivers or startup items, reboot your Tablet subsequently to ensure that Windows recognizes the change - even if you're not be prompted to restart via a pop - up.

There are a lot of dependencies between the Windows operating system components, if precisely identify all tasks activated by individual components of Windows is "above the pay grade" for most of us - including the advisors 'useful' mucking-comments under the hood in a session remotely.  Keep a detailed list of all changes made to the settings the device or start during troubleshooting, so that you can restore them to their original state, later.

If you get this far without getting your app camera work, the next likely step can be to choose the recovery options. The fastest option "Refresh" does not change your data, but still will require you to re - install extra software from 3rd - party that has not provided by HP or Microsoft. However, before proceeding with recovery options, I encourage you to check with HP technical support 1 & and/or update this thread with all the additional measures taken and your results...

    Good luck!

  • Omni 10 front face camera missing in camera app icon

    Hi all
My front facing camera on my Omni 10, 64 is not available to choose from the app.
I called and they helped me. I actually could see the icon specified in the camera to switch application and it worked perfectly for a week. It has now disappeared again.
Support has remove me the current driver for the camera, and then restart your computer. When I did, the driver had re-installed itself and everything was great.
Now, my problem is it stopped working again, and I don't know which driver I deleted. When in Device Manager, I can't understand which section it was or what it was called. the Lady helping me tried several things until we arrived at this, then it worked, but there were too many other things going on for me to remind and I thought that it was fixed to permenantly so I don't have a note or a page first.
Any ideas? I really want to remember and go
the process of elimination to new lol

I had to spend my Tablet 10 Omni at my desk after that - the pop ups blocked much too much of the screen.  This may be posted elsewhere, I don't know.  But that is a different problem.

Mods if you see a similar message by me, Ron7624, remove it.

I finally remember that the only thing I have to do is wide upward from the lower right, then opens a small panel which is connected to the camera, change the camera button, a timer and an element of control of the exhibition

So there is nothing wrong, just me not to remember this little trick.

Thank you for your offer to help!

  • Camera in OMNI 10

When I want to do photo and use standart Windows 8 'Caméra' for this app, I often (not black) gray screen instead of the photo. If I press the photo button, rear camera make normal image.  When I press the 'Change Camera' button, activated front camera and work well, with a snippet (without gray screen). When I press button 'Change camera' second time, sometimes I still receive gray screen, but sometimes new good camera work. Restart Tablet contributes to 50% of cases.

What can I do with this problem?

Try the new drivers (they are in a sticky post above). I had the same problem with the stock App Windows, Skype, Hangouts and many other applications of the camera.

  • Omni 10 problems

Something strange is happening with the Omni 10. More specifications with a rear camera 8 mp, some list with a 5mp camera. Office Depot data sheet shows 5 mp. According to Atmel who installed XSense as the sensor, it was not released until after 4 th December. Office Depot sold it more than a week before that date. I wonder if there was a version without notice with the screen 5mp & twinkle who was arrested almost immediately. I suggest anyone who has problems with flickering screen or camera controls on what size is the rear camera. There may be good reasons for complaint & product exchange. It looks great to me at HP did not get their act together on this tablet.

Everyone knows "flicker" is NOT a fault/question. It's just a setting of graphics in the Panel controls intel HD that has changed. Seems to be some sort of option to save energy!

I already tried to remove the jumpers and they are put back in place without success.

    Hello

Whether you are able to remove the power on password, you must remove the back cover, and then remove the metal cover that protects the motherboard and remove the jumper located near the memory modules.

Then try to turn on the system and see if that solved your problem.

I have an all in one Hp Omni 27-1001es and I have a very big problem!

Yesterday, I was working on pc and had to leave for a few minutes.

When I came back the screen was blank and the pc freezes; I tried to restart and nothing has changed!

At the start of the key power led works, the fan starts working and the led on the drive hard too but the screen continues without signal of life. Unplugged, open the case and clean dust, checked the Ram and nothing seems to be burned or disconnected.

    Thanks for any help

    Hello Leo3680,

I understand your computer but does not show a display on the monitor, is it correct? I'll be happy to help you.

If you have not already tried it to start with a hard reset.

    1. remove all cables from the computer including the power cord

    2. press and hold button power for 30 seconds

    3. Once done insert only the mouse, keyboard and power cable

    4. try turning on your computer to see what's happening.

Please answer as soon as possible.

    Thank you

  • Omni charge 10 issues

A few days ago, I thought that I had banished all the gremlins of my 10 Omni (thanks to this forum; the trick has been disable all energy savings options in the Intel display control panel and turn off the power supply for the USB controller management).  I should have remained skeptical, the Tablet charge shortly after the judgment.  A call to HP support has resulted in a new adapter sent my way.  My FedEx package came today and the only thing inside was a specific region taken insert; no adapter found.  Seriously, HP?

Anyway, to my question to the community, because I don't think the adapter is the problem: someone has found a solution for the problems of load?  The Tablet charged whenever I plugged for more than three weeks, but refused to load during the last two days.  As far as I know, no software changes have been made about the time that the problem appeared, and I see no sign of hardware failure.

I do not think to say, but obviously I checked to make sure that the adapter is plugged in to operation.

    the following worked for me:

  • HP Omni 10 all missing Drivers

The HP Support Page's 10 Omni is now almost empty.

Pilots who were there have been replaced by a purchase order for a recovery disc.

The only selection of OS is Windows 8.1 (64-bit), which is not the OS 10 Omni runs.

    Did someone at HP careful?

and they are back today. Now maybe someone will watch their update... and maybe even an update of the firmware/bios.

It seems WiFi, camera and the touch screen in the corners are all buggy.

  • Omni Tablet LED stays on

When I close my Tablet 10 Omni, usually light near the front facing camera turns on for about 1 second and then turns off. More often than otherwise, I'm having a problem where LED light stays and the only way to get it to turn off is to hold down the button of physical power for about 10 seconds. Any ideas? Do I have a defective unit and if so, what should I do? This seems to happen most often when I close the workstation when I Metro station interface although it happens with both so I can't seem to find one any correlation.

    Thank you.

Hi rlf54. When the led lights up and stays on it's after a session using the web camera? In general the LED should illuminate to indicate the web cam is on. The issue you described sounds like a closure for me problem and not a problem of LED. The LED does not turn off is maybe false.

I suggest first to solve the halting problem. The first thing you should try is to disable the quick start. This will disable to turn hybrid Shutdown. Find the instructions to activate the quick start here: Quick start - turn on or off in Windows 8

Then try to recreate the issue. Let me know the results.

  • Omni touchscreen 10 questions

I bought a nice enough pen at Amazon, the other day and started trying to use it with the Omni 10. I was hoping that it would help the problems with the screen doesn't react don't not to touch... especially in the upper corners (closing a window in desktop Win 8 mode).

What I now see (my finger is in the way) is that the keys are saved (I can see the screen mark to the touch), but it does not, or a long delayed, response of the BONE. It would seem that the problem is not with the touch digitizer, but perhaps with the driver/bios.

To confirm the question I asked several people who have 10 s Omni (not easy to find due to HPs beautiful marketing efforts) to try the same thing and everyone saw the same questions.

So HP... what a little caring for your early users?

I just want to give an update: I discussed this for over two months now, with the German support of HP, sending many diagnostic reports and even videos of the screen does not respond. About 5 weeks ago my camera was already picked up. Shortly before it was taken over, I got the info from a support agent that there are known problems with the sensitivity of the touch screen and an updated firmware is for the touchscreen that unfortunately cannot be updated by the user. I would get a new device. A few days after this info that I received another call from the customer service, telling me that they would refund instead replace the unit because they cannot guarantee the issue with a new device. Also on my application if there is a certain serial number range or manufacturing date on the problem is resolved, no one could answer me that.

Well, believe what you want, but I doubt that there is no hotfix or the update or the new revision of material to address the lack of sensitivity (especially in combination with screen protectors). More likely, it's a limitation of the touchscreen technology Atmel XSense that HP has decided to use this device: I have not met a single comment where someone can use a screen protector with no problems on this tablet or found a stylus, capacitive and had it work on the Omni 10. in any case, the device seems pretty much abandoned me: not a lot of marketing / advertising, poor bed early on, no driver or BIOS updates for the month.

I would have given the 10 Omni another chance if this problem is solved. But it's the customer more horrible I've ever known in my life of any major brand in electronics: 5th week now without a Tablet and still waiting for the refund to fill so I can finally buy a new Tablet (not HP of course)!

  • Problem with light Omni 10

Hello, first of all, I wanted to apologize for my English, I write good English, sorry.

I have a tablet of 10 Omni, when I turn off the Tablet by clicking on the option 'Disable' in Windows 8, sometimes light near the camera is turned on but turned off! The only way to turn off the light is by clicking on the button for 10 seconds.

Please could you give me a solution for this problem?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello, Peter.

It is normal that the light flashes briefly during closing; If it stays on, some software prevents your tablet of turning-off completely. The option of "10 seconds" you describe forces all active processes to quit then turns your tablet.

You have not indicated how long you had your Omni & if you have installed all apps transferred from another computer... If you have not yet spent a lot of time to install additional software, one of the "Recovery" options will likely restore normal operation quickly (start with "Refresh"). If you first want to try additional troubleshooting, it will be useful to know if this problem still occurs when you try a menu stop immediately after your Tablet road and logon. If you are familiar with the Task Manager, you may identify 'suspects' in the list of applications that are active only - before turning your Omni-off and use the Task Manager to end one-at-a-time to find the one that interferes with the normal shutdown. If you identify software that you installed as a guilty, then you will need to uninstall it and find a newer version or another application to accomplish the same task. If troubleshooting doesn't quickly lead to identify what is causing the problem, then you can always use one of recovery options. There are several updates for system software and applications that came pre-installed on your Omni; After that your Tablet does not function normally, don't forget to re - apply all eligible updates from Microsoft and HP, to get the best performance from your Omni. If you want more tips for all the steps here, answer this discussion. In a case report, please come back with the steps that worked for you, so that other forum visitors can learn from your experience... (Your English skills are very well!)

    Good luck!
