OMSA on CentOS/RHEL 7

Hi all!

I want to get the work of the OMSA on my old PowerEdge 2950 server. OMSA 7 works well with CentOS 6, it will be available on CentOS 7 too?

Thank you.

I know me:

www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails

It seems that the version 7.4.1 supports 12g (or earlier?) material and RHEL 7 dated November 21.

Best,
Martin

  • OMSA on CentOS 5.7 - OME inventory

    Hello community,

We use the OMSA on a CentOS Distribution 5.7 7.4. In OMSA all indicators are green. Now, I did an inventory of the system to the point 1.3 of OME. But the State of health of the system is grey (?). What can I do to get a status of green circuit. I have already configured snmp, but it does not work.

    Thanks in advance

Hi and thanks for the post.

It is important to note that OMSA is ok on the managed node, it is not because you have configured entirely OMSA SNMP instrumentation.  Be sure to check this part of the guide of the OMSA user or the first installation steps in the tutorial of OME.  There could also be a white paper or video on it on the www.delltechcenter.com/ome page.

    Thank you

  • CentOS 6.4 DELL OMSA error - PE 1950

I managed to install the DELL OMSA on CentOS 6.4 [64 bit] on a Poweredge 1950 server without too much problem.

  • nor-psp in Linux libs LV SV

I need to read some SV (a few bytes every few seconds) a LV 2012 installation on a network. The player is in a box of 6 CentOS (rhel 14), I would write a little routine of reading in c / c ++ which could be characterized as bash scripts and seeks neither-PSP c libraries. Why avoid LV-linux? I did above in LV on a different machine recently that worked well, but the General fresh start is important in the command line and the vi takes forever to start-report-quit and lv-as-service is one doomed to failure in this application. It is possible that this task force VI on a separate host will end as a UDP relay and my computer of the end user will be asked to relay, but surely there is an easier way to just look at the OAS on the network without another facility full of LV, right? and FWIW we had licenses on site for years, so 1). cost of the next copy is not a problem and 2.) If there are older libraries that only ~ after ~ were available, I can probably get my grubby mitts on them.

    Any ideas?

    Hi asquit,

In my opinion, using TCP/IP instead of trying to communicate using shared variables might be a better alternative, because TCP/IP is not based on a specific operating system. TCP/IP is also more reliable because it is a connection protocol based and you won't suffer data loss in your communication, which would be possible using shared variables. I will attach a link to a white paper I found on NI.com which gives an overview of how to set a TCP/IP communication in LabVIEW. You can then simply use standard client/server C/C++ code to connect.

    Basic TCP/IP in LabVIEW communication:

    http://www.NI.com/white-paper/2710/en/

If you decide to try this method, there are also several examples in the example LabVIEW Finder that you can start with.

  • DRAC 4 - problem with password reset

    Hello

My company bought used/refurbished Dell R200 server with DRAC 4/p card. Now, I'm trying configure/reset password for DRAC 4 (v1.75 A01 fw) to the server. Server running Win 2008 x 64 std.

As a first step, that the seller forgot to put with ribbon cable card, so I had to do it myself after I got it... Back to story :) at the start, I have configured DRAC (Ctrl + D; set IP DNS & - I do not see 'reset password' option), I also configured BMC to tunnel IP too (I think that's not important).

Then, after I got windows running nicely (WU, net. FW + soft base; I did while waiting for flat cable). Once I got the cable, I have configured the DRAC at boot time, and then I went to interface http and received the error of connection (for root and calvin). In the meantime, I had to grasp because victory could not find drivers for dell DRAC: (.)

So I installed OMSA ManagedNode x 64 (v7.4.0.2) tools RDCA (Setup did not find my card too...). Now the server startup time tripled :/ (don't know what did OMSA / or make at startup...), but nice after starting web server interface OMSA works, I can see the status of the HDD, the sensors, the tensions - almost what I need, but nothing on the DRAC (BMC only).

    Started administrator cmd and typed:

    C:\Windows\System32>racadm racresetcfg
ERROR: Cannot perform the requested operation

    And:
    C:\Windows\System32>racadm getsysinfo
ERROR: Cannot perform the requested operation

So now, I think that something is not ok, but what? DRAC is broken (said kindly) or soft cannot talk to the card...

    Can anyone provide some tips?

    Hello

I did an extra test (before leaving the workstation) and OMSA CentOS Live image downloaded and tried running the racadm - same result then the card should be broken.

Seller has decided to replace the card because "a very likely card is broken." So now I wait for the new card.

    If I remember, I'll post summary :)

    -Summary-

I got more than 2 cards of seller. None of them worked, firmware update found card, updated at the latest but racadm wouldn't work: (.)

I'm packing cards back to give their feedback to the seller, but I decided to check once more... If I put each a card server and I tried the OMSA Live CentOS run racadm getsysinfo [/ i].
I don't know if I would be really happy but one of the DRACs replied :), so without hesitation, I run "racadm racresetcfg" and I had no errors (happy), so I waited a moment for card to reset, and then rerun the getsysinfo but there not as before, but now I can log in the web and I changed my password.

I suspect editing card, but the PREV raid card works very well, there could be something offshore with this putting on drac PCI slot. Seller also admitted that he had specially the elevators in order to install the drac4 card.

I consider this as solved :)

PS. Sorry for my bad English.

  • Need steps to install RAC Oracle 12 c on AIX

    Hi all

I need documentation/tutorials for installing RAC 12 c on a support for AIX version. I don't have any experience on AIX, is very different from CentOS/RHEL/OEL?

    Hi delphine,.

I highly recommend that you will follow the official Oracle documentation:

    1. Start with the installation of the grid Infrastructure:http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/CWAIX/toc.htm
    2. After the installation of the complete Network Infrastructure, you can go ahead with the installation of database: http://docs.oracle.com/database/121/AXDBI/inst_task.htm#BABBBHJH

In addition, I recommend you install 12.1.0.2 which is the last patch set for 12 c and it includes many fixes for bugs in 12.1.0.1 and also of new improvements and features that were not available in 12.1.0.1 (for example, the memory option, and many others).

You have the wrong java version, which I assume is java8 which is not taken in charge for 12 c yet so downgrade to java 7. Don't know what flavor your OS, it is that I used this How-to Install Java 7 (Jdk 7u75) on CentOS/RHEL 7/6/5 and restarted downgraded java my weblogic and everything worked as expected.

  • Defective disk performance

    Hi all

We have the following situation; a VMware ESXi server was a virtual machine installed with CentOS/RHEL.

For security reasons that this virtual machine should be reinstalled, however, we chose to perform a side by side easy migration of data installation.

After that the establishment of the new virtual machine performance of the disc was bad, the new virtual machine has another version of CentOS (5.4 instead of 5.3 compared to the old VM).

I thought it was because of the interaction between two virtual machines, disk after the first, the problem is the deletion occurs.

So I thought; Maybe it's a disk problem, so today, I replaced the drive in order to get a fast machine again.

Due to the replacement of the drive, I had to reinstall ESXi and virtual machine.

Has done this, but the diskperformance is still so bad.

Is there something I'm monitoring here?

The material is defective? (it's a DELL PowerEdge R200, with single drive, no RAID).

Any idea, because I'm going out now

    GR, Mike

I think that this isn't a bad result, it depends on you, disks,

for example, my VM with CentOS 5.4 on HP BL460c G1 with RAID1 on 146 GB SAS drives:

    # hdparm-t/dev/sda

    / dev/sda:

Calendar of the disc in the buffer reads: 106 MB in 3.02 seconds = 35.05 MB / sec

Virtual MACHINE runs on no ESXi 4 update

  • Adding a secondary network in Ubuntu JEOS in ESXi interface

    Hello world

I was able to migrate a server http Ubuntu JEOS 32bits and get eth0 works) - thank you!

I am now trying to add a secondary NETWORK card to this server. I've set up with 2 network cards in each subnet of ESXi. I added another virtual ethernet card on the virtual computer.

Problem is, ESXi is to assign the primary network card MAC address and will not affect the mac for the secondary network card?

    I'm doing something wrong?

    Peter

I don't know if this option is present in your linux distribution. In CentOS, RHEL etc... There is an option in the Network Setup page (run cmd), in which it allows you to probe the mac address assigned to the NIC automatically neat from the GUI.

I don't think you really need to probe the mac address. But just in case any suggestions do not work, you can remove the second NIC of the virtual machine, remove all the settings of the card NETWORK card in your GDS network files. Add a new fresh NIC card and configure the settings of the new!

  • ColdFusion mx 7.0.2 - 404 error

I just install coldfusion mx 7.0.2 on a centos (rhel basically linux) server. everything seems to go fine, I can access the coldfusion administrator since the internal on the 8500 port web server, I can access the administrator using symbolic links using a connector configured on port 80 because I need to... my problem is when I work with virtual hosts.

If I'm working on one of my domain names, say who has its web root in/home/isom/public_html I can't get ColdFusion to load http://www.domain.com/index.cfm. it tells me file not found. of course, in the public_html folder, there is an index.cfm... there is no application.cfm, the index.cfm template is not cfincluding nothing else... This is just a test file with a very basic output in it.

I created a symbolic link to where CFIDE is in/home/isom/public_html and I can access http://www.domain.com/CFIDE/administrator perfectly, everything works.

However, if I copy the index.cfm test file in/opt/jrun4/servers/cfusion/cfusion-ear/cfusion-war and access http://www.domain.com/index.cfm, it works fine.

am I missing something here? I'm not supposed to be creating models coldfusion in the directive documentroot to the site? do I have to use the directory cfusion-war for each other? im confused, I swear to you that this thing must be able to work the way I...

    answer to the original question is to edit the jrun - Web.XML document that is located in {jrun.home}/servers/{server.instance}/cfusion.ear/cfusion.war (some part in there, theres one in each server instance) and add a virtual mapping for / * that points to the root of your new document.}

also add virtual mappings for CFIDE/cfdocs and any other part of coldfusion, you don't want to not duplicate physically. Once this is done, the images did not in the coldfusion administrator and the only way I found to get those working was to add cfide/CFIDE symbolic links to the original installation location.

Ive always hated the amount of time it takes to get a response on these forums. I think that out of perhaps 50 questions ive asked, I ended up answering all 50 of them with no response no matter what... and it is pretty standard jrun configuration steps. from what I've read, change the default document root is on almost every java application server.

do not complain about someone, so please do not take offense to that last statement... I don't see why something that I saw listed as being pretty standard couldn't have at least been alluded to in response to what was requested ;)

  • Dell OMSA GUI reference works don't not with 6.4 CentOS 64 bit

    Hello

I am trying to install the DELL OMSA on my Dell Poweredge 1950 with no luck setting the GUI part on the server, so I can use the link "https://localhost:1311" in all of our business network.

The problem is that I've done the following to at least be able to use the CLI portion only:

    http://www.md3v.com/install-Dell-OpenManage-on-CentOS-6-4

It is a very useful script that I found online to allow at least the installation works fine. I can't access the web interface, it continues to tell me Elinks or any external browser "unable to access".

I also have openssl installed with wget and perl. I don't know what keeps me to get the portion of browser to work. Please help!

Here are the currently used version of CentOS kernel:

    CentOS 2.6.32 - 358.el6.x86_64

    Thank you.

    Hello

What version of OMSA are you using? Sometimes the older versions work better on the older hardware. What does

    srvadmin-services.sh status

show? You may also want to try adding a non-root user to /opt/dell/srvadmin/etc/omarolemap

  • VMWare converter hangs on RHEL/CentOS 2 and 3 guests

I tried this on three different hosts and in each case the vmware converter starts ok, then eventually it simply crashes.  I logged on the source host to see what was going on and noticed that it crashes there is no vmware running process, whereas before I was able to see the vmware converter process, but also the tar of the process which has begun.

Any suggestions?  This product don't feel really as it is completely "cooked", at least on the side of things Linux.

I really don't understand why rsync would be a faster, unless you were synchronizing after an initial copy.

I don't know why you have to do all this hack later.  I fear systems that you are having to do this on the 2.4 kernels, which are basically not supported (read as "will not work"), except for explicitly RHEL 2.1, which we specially deal.

CentOS is generally not supported (read as "not tested, no guarantee it won't work at all, no promises of any assistance, good luck").

That is all listed in the release notes: http://www.vmware.com/support/converter/doc/releasenotes_conv401.html#guestos

But many people have had success with CentOS, and they have not needed to play with the initrd, grub, etc..  This is a very large part of the value provided by the Linux P2V functionality, so have to do it yourself sucks.  Can you give me the versions accurate that you are having to do with?

Honestly, if you do all that cold converter Clone CD (available as part of the converter company releases) might be a better approach because it allows to copy disks completely, you will lose any LVM and won't have problems with 'magic' confusion of tar files. But for the record, the cold Clone CD does not support provisioning.

(If your question has been resolved please check the responses as 'Useful' or 'Correct').

  • RHEL or centos 5.3 does not work under vmware to 6.5.2

    Hi all

I use vmware to 6.5.2 workstation on linux.

RHEL or centos 5.3 does not work under vmware 6.5.2. When I launch a 5.3 rhel or centos 5.3 on vmware workstation 6.5.2 on linux installation and configuration goes off well. and I can't connect to the internet as well. normally, I put a static IP address and move forward with things.

but once I'm done for the day I closed the comments and also the host machine. When I start the computer host the next day I get a message (I moved it Cancel I copied it)

normally, I click on "I copied it" and move forward. When I start the operating system, I find that IP in DHCP address switches and the many changes that I made to go to pot. It normally happens when I create a linked to the base OS clone original.

never, I face this problem when I used it with vmware for windows and I used this clone related all this time.

could someone please shed more light on this? I do not feel this type of error deskto openfiler or suse. I use clone bound only with openfiler and suse.

that linked clones are of concern. Here's what I do.

I have install say hundred os 5.3 as a basic OS and do not touch.

    Ok

When I want to test something on this subject I create a linked clone (which automatically creates a snapshot).

now when I want to create another instance of hundred bones, I create another clone related base (another cliché separate) and work on it.

Although for Workstation is you actually have a 'new' virtual machine and if you copied or moved is a good question. The problem is that most people do not understand the consequences of the choice of one over the other. If you have NEVER 2 clones related running at the same time, then you would like just to use the "move" option In this case your linked clone is just an advanced preview where you have 2 lines long that are independent from each other.

OTOH if you go for a start more as a related clone, then you will get problems when they are in the same network they will try both to claim the same IP because they have the same MAC address network. This can cause all sorts of weird problems. If you choose the option "clone", while these problems do not occur, but you will have to reset some settings such as address IP etc...

  • NIVXI on RHEL 5

I have the VXI-MXI2 package and installed NIVXI on RHEL 5.3 (kernel 2.6.18 - 128.el5), I built the pilot of core with some minor mods to get it to build and it loads without errors (other than complaints from licence to the var):

kernel: vximod: module license 'unspecified' taints kernel

    kernel: VXI: initialized

I can see the kernel driver when I do a lsmod.

but the reports of vxiinit running:

    Failed to initialize hardware.

I have the card PCI-MXI2 and see when I do an lspci.

07:08.0 Bridge: National instruments unknown device a001 (rev 01)

and the cable is correctly connected and connected to the VXI-MXI2 location 0 card.

I saw in other posts, there was more significant changes to the kernel driver to run on CentOS 5, but links to these changes are now dead.  Is there more to this driver I have to change?

    Thanks in advance.

Found the problem.   BIOS system was old and didn't work with the PCI card.  Tried a PC with a new motherboard and BIOS and vxiinit and resman has worked.
