  • Shortcuts occationaly desktop network locations stop working and after a few minutes start working again

    7 x 64 access a file from the Windows Server 2008 Server.

We have records of project on the file server that access many people without any problem.  A user has shortcuts to these network folders saved on his desk.  Once a week or two, the user will receive the broken shortcut error message:

"The item 'dossierprojet' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut works correctly."

Immediately, it can navigate to the folder by using a connected player or the UNC path with no problems.  After a few minutes the shortcut will start working again.  I created the shortcut by using a mapped drive and using the UNC path, but it continues to continue to occur.

  • Network name not found between 2 XP Pro computers. Just stopped working

I have a computer network that has worked successfully for several years and stops suddenly. The only thing I can think of that changed is that I have installed the "critical" updates that windows recommended I have install. I don't know that's the problem that I didn't test the network for several days before or after the installation, but it can be an important clue

my network seems to be still intact, as I can ping and access any computer manually via the IP (\\192.168.1.x), but I can't access or their ping more than name (\\computer_1). All my shared drives and printers to refer to names of computers for their ports. None of the networked computers appear in the network neighborhood with the exception of the computer I'm working on.

Thinking it was simply a problem of firewall/virus protection, I have disabled all of this on both xp computers, but it made no difference. The kicker is that Mac computers can still access the printer shared by computer name. The problem seems to lie between the two xp computers.

All the obvious print and file sharing settings have been verified to be correct. I even went as far as to set up the network again, that made no difference.

Two xp computers revealed FALSE when I checked who was the master browser, so I changed my desktop to TRUE to indicate that as long as the master browser.

On my network, I have 2 MAC OSx 10.5 and 2 windows xp pro SP3. Mac can still access shared printers, computers XP cannot...

    Hello

If the AV Firewall is 3rd party costume Disable them can still block LAN traffic.

Try the following on each computer.

    WinSock and TCP/IP update.

Type Cmd in the search text box.

Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run a command as administrator prompt.  Allow the elevation.

Type netsh winsock reset at the command prompt and press the Enter key.

The same processes to refresh the TCP/IP replaces the command typed with.

    netsh int reset Press enter

    ipconfig/flushdns press Enter

  • Wireless network with 2 computers and a HP J4680 printer with connection problem

I have two computers.  Each of them has been connected to the HP Officejet J4680.  I can "ping" the printer from both computers and get a response.  I can print documents to the printer to a computer (A), but not the other (B).  Each computer uses the same IP address and Port HP_192.168.1.3_CN95L981CS052X 192.168.1.3 for the wireless printer.

Today, I learned if both computers are turned on, I can print from computer B, using the printer profile stored in A computer.

I reinstalled the driver several times.  I reconnect the printer to the network.  The troubleshooting provided by HP software was not able to determine why computer B will not recognize the wireless printer.

I don't want have always both computers to print to the printer wireless.

Sounds like it could be a problem with the software. To begin with, that I want to be sure that remove us the software completely and correctly before you continue. Follow the instructions below and see what happens after.

First of all, if you use a USB cable, be sure to remove it (it's important). Do not plug it in again until the software instructs you. Through devices and printers, programs and features and issues Device Manager and make sure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. As indicated, and then restart the computer.

In the menu START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here, I want you to press Ctrl + A, and press DELETE. Some files you cannot delete them, ignore these files and delete the majority that allows it to.

find and install SOFTWARE to FEATURE FULL if it is available:

  • How can I get unidentified network settings stick, private and change its name?

I use Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on my computer at home, because my Internet is wireless usb (AT & T Quicksilver) device that can be plugged directly into my router (Linksys WRT110).  Given that the router accepts only as an internet connection ethernet cables, instead I use my desktop computer as the connection (ICS) and using the router only as a hub, essentially.

Everything is working well at the moment.  The Office will connect to the internet and other computers and devices connected to the router (wired and wireless) are all works well and can share the internet connection.

But whenever I restart the desktop computer, the default network is "unidentified network" and as a type of 'Public' without discovery service.  So every time I go to network settings and make it private.  It works fine until the next reboot.  In addition, I am not able to change the network name.  The field seems open for entry, but selecting and typing does nothing.

I don't know if it's relevant, but other devices to connect to the network are laptops (of various working groups, need to be since they are mainly used to work) and a DirecTV DVR, using Mediashare (via Windows Media Server).  Yet once, they all work, after doing the private network, but this is lost at every restart of the desktop computer.

I wish I could have it be a private network that is identified by a name and keep these parameters at each reboot.  But I have yet to find an online solution that worked for me.

    Matt,

Thank you very much.  It worked like a charm.  I was pulling my hair out on this one for a few months.  Once again, a big thank you!

For anyone else trying to solve the same problem, here is the summary of the solution.

I have already had no default gateway specified.  As advised by Matt, I right click on the Local network connection (in network and sharing Center / manage network connections) and went in the IPV4 properties and put in the address of a default gateway (equal to the IP address of my router/hub).  I left the ICS settings and all the way IP addresses which I had them before (with zero in the third byte of the IP address of all and ICS turned on).  I have no registry changes.  The only change is the default gateway.  After this change, a wizard appears to allow me to set up the network properly.  And I could rename and define the private network.  And the changes were intact after several reboots.  Perfect.

  • I have a desktop computer and a laptop. When I change a bookmark on one, it does not change on the other, even if I am connected to sync

I have a desktop computer and a laptop.
When I change a bookmark on one, it does not change the other even though I am connected to the sync.

    Sync is meant to do?

Most probably one of the two computers has corrupted data which does not allow the sync complete.

Refresh (called "Reset" in older versions of Firefox) can solve a lot of problems in restaurant Firefox as his default factory while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose all the extensions, toolbar customizations, and certain preferences. See article Firefox Refresh - reset modules and parameters for more information.

    Refresh for Firefox:

    1. Open the troubleshooting information page using one of the following methods:

      • Click the menu button

        click Help

and select troubleshooting information. Should open a new tab containing your troubleshooting information.

      • If you are unable to access the Help menu, type Subject: support in your address bar to bring up the troubleshooting information page.
    2. At the top right of the page, you should see a button that says 'Refresh Firefox' ('reset Firefox' in older versions of Firefox). Click on it.
    3. Firefox closes. Once the update process is complete, Firefox will display a window with the imported information.
    4. Click Finish and reopen Firefox.

  • Good for laptop - cannot change the ISP; keep returning to a previous provider

Windows 7 laptop of my grandson, I'm migrating FIREFOX (excellent resource!) of my aging XP desktop. An existing Mozilla installation on the guarded device tries to connect to an ISP in Sydney (1000km) which kept out, I guess because the signal is too weak. Too far - on the Internet?

Reinstalled my new ISP contact, reinstalled a fresh copy of Firefox, copied the old profile XP (just underneath the random string file name), but cannot change the fault. Firefox at startup tries to raise the old ISP (Sydney) and expires, and then allowing me to establish a manual connect with the ISP (my current) new.
Perhaps a clue: in my Firefox troubleshooting info, change preferences, the browser start page is the address of 'old', with 'override mstone' ignore, what look like prints of registry entries, but I can't change all that - and maybe it's wise! An annoying secondary question: on arrival, the laptop listed no administrator user. So I am me came as an administrator, but I wonder if a past or current even Admin hidden could register (or other) entered resistant to change.

Late discovery: the laptop is apparently infected with browser pirate btsearch.name. Search Google throws a series of removal procedures, and I'm now working through them.
    What Miss me?

Sometimes a problem with Firefox can be a result of malware installed on your computer, you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to search for malicious software that work with your existing anti-virus software:
