  I get this message whenever I want to download some files I feel safe: "Windows found that this file is potentially harmful.  To protect your computer, Windows has blocked access to this file.

  I was able to unlock some files using properties > unblock, but sometimes, this feature is not available.  Suggestions to disable permanently?

  Hi Trevor,

  Properties > Unblock is the normal way to proceed.  If you do not use one of the domestic versions or Windows Vista Basic, you can disable this option in group policy.

  1. In Windows Vista, click Start.
  2. In the search box, run the console window or from the box type: GPEDIT. SMC to bring up the Group Policy object editor.
  3. Navigate to User Configuration > administrative templates > Windows components > Attachment Manager. You will find a couple of policies related to this function, but to disable, you will want to ACTIVATE the strategy called 'do not store the zone information in attachments'.
  4. Close the GPO Editor.
  5. Each logoff your computer, or refresh the local policy by typing the following command in a command prompt or in the box run: gupdate/force .

  I tried to find someone to help me with my blocked access security settings. If I try to download a program or application, either my security settings do not allow either I get a partial transfer or block access Windows when I try to install the program. "... This file is potentially harmful. My fire walls and some anti-virals are turned off.

  I was informed by one of your participants click with the right button on the program for download. Select "Properties". Select "general". then select 'unlock' I have no selection "unlock" in general or any other place that I can find, nor any selection which could mean to unlock.

  For example, I tried to download/install the Amazon games and software downloader so that I can download/install the amazon kindle for PC app.

  I have also no option 'reset the settings of internet explorer.

  I am running windows 7 starter edition.

  Thanks for posting your concern. We will try to run System File Checker to check if there is any corrupt system file that is causing the problem. To do this, please see the steps below.

  1. press on the Windows key on your keyboard.
  2. type cmd, then right click on the result, then select run as administrator.
  3. type sfc/scannow.
  4. press enter.

  Alternatively, you can install the programs and the application while your computer is running in a clean boot State. To perform a clean boot, please refer to this link: How to perform a boot in Windows.

  Close your office tasks bar, clock is a Citrix icon (it is black with white lines on it).  You can use it to access the connection Center and change to allow access to the place.  I have not worn hand on the computer on which I typing this, but if I remember right you would go to the option 'About' on this icon, then there will be a link to the advanced options and connection Center access.

  I have a SG300 working mode switch layer 3.

  I created 3 VLAN and intervlan communication works very well. I want to know how to block access to enable management of VLANS.

  The vlan is allowed access to the switch, but not the other vlans.
