  • LV OOP for an alternative to clusters?

I change the code with a large number of Boolean flags, each of them flashes when data is not valid. I need to eliminate the flashing lights. I am facing make a lot of changes to the existing property nodes, changing "Flashing" to "colors []".

I don't want to move the Boolean to a cluster because of the magnitude of work to decode the data. I'm looking for an alternative to clusters that would allow me to change the color scheme for many Boolean values with very little code. I don't see a class of controls [] for the sub-panels.

If LV OOP provides a solution to my problem, where can I go to learn the basics to cost little or not?

    Thank you

Solution: I changed manually several nodes property.

  • LabVIEW oop build warining!

    Hello!

I write a labview program with the method of OOP (object oriented programming), and the program is very well. But when I build to exe, the manufacturer of labview display warning message: "LabVIEW has prevented a file name collision during the build. Names of duplicate files can be copied to the same destination. You can rename the files as part of the build process to avoid name conflicts. »

I know it's certant this file duplicate name when to use 'Class', and how I can display the warning message when build.

Pre-LabVIEW 2009 EXE has a flat directory.  All controls in the screw and outbuildings were in an EXE file and there is no record in this EXE.  For this reason, you cannot have 2 files in your project with the same name (because they can't go in the same directory without overwriting a).  From 2009 to fix it NOR allowed EXEs have directories so screws can have the same name on disk, but in memory, they can have a different name, by adding the class, or the name of the library itself.  So you can have PowerSupply.lvclass:Init.vi and CAN.lvclass:Init.vi both disk just as Init.vi

In the new versions of LabVIEW, you can use the old file structure by defining the Layout 8.x to true in the specification to build the EXE file (under Advanced), but you really want to do because of the collision problem you see.

EDIT: and it seems that your code has been registered in 8.6 before the existence of this feature.

  • LabVIEW oop variant in the private class data

    Hello

    I'm new to LabVIEW OOP.

Is there a way to get a control of type variant in the 'grouping of private class data"for a class? If not, is there an alternative for handeling given variant? I use LV 2013.

    Thank you.

Just, you use a control of type variant, and put in the big giant cluster.  It's the same for any other data type.  Is there a specific problem that you run into?

  • LV OOP using accessor (subVIs) or operation bundle/unbundle methods?

    Hello

When should I use the (private) (subVIs) accessor methods and when the bundle/unbundle the operation to access the data of the class? What is the reason that the operation bundle/unbundle is introduced in LabVIEW OOP? I need some rules for a codification of the directive.

    Thank you

Thanks for your advice. I wanted to understand the differences between a private access vi and unbundle operation as in the picture.

I found a few more explanations on the website: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/3574/en

-> ' Methods 'Read' and 'write' for each data value in a class is a recognized process as being bulky. " LabVIEW 8.5 introduced the ability to create the screw accessor in a dialog Wizard and LV2009 added to other options in this dialog box.

We were concerned about the performance overhead to a Subvi call instead of unbundling just data. We found that our general fees current compiler for the Subvi call is insignificant (measured between 6 and 10 microseconds on average PC). A bundle/unbundle directly on the appellant VI compared to a Subvi is almost the same amount of time. We have a problem with copies of data for unbundled components because a large part of the LabVIEW inplaceness algorithm does not work beyond the limits of the Subvi. To work around the problem, you can also choose to avoid the accessor methods for methods that perform work in the Subvi to avoid returning the Subvi elements, thus avoiding copies of data. This choice is often better OO design anyway, because it avoids exposing the implementation private to a class as part of its public API. In future versions, I bet that this feature of subVIs will become possible, which will eliminate the overhead entirely.

We feel in the long run it is better to improve the experience of the editor and the efficiency of the compiler for these screws rather than introduce data public/protected/community. »

  • LV OOP Multiple Instances of a class

    Hi people,

I'm quite new to Labview OOP and I wonder how I can create two instances of the same class.

Usually in the other object it oriented programming languages is a constructor that returns a newly initialized instance. I have the feeling that each class in BT there is only once.

Can you please somone tell me where to find information about this?

    Thank you

    Michael

In LabVIEW, the son of class on the block diagram are the different instances. If you take a wire and split to go to two different places, each new branch is its own data and instance.

Here is a screenshot of the code that I currently am. The red thread of class is a Message that I'm passing. I need to be given the same message several times with different message actions, so I did a painting of the same message. Each element of the array is another instance of the message class.

  • Legacy of grandchild parent - OOP

I have a question of both parties, I'm looking for help...

1 legacy, data from a parent to a child of object object, how do the parent data specific available on cable of the child?  I understand that you use the accessors of parent to get the data on the wire of the child's parent.  When I do, all I get is data by default from the parent control.  Updates to the data that I've done since the instantiation of the parent class are not reflected in the child thread.  Why is this?

I was shown a technique for dynamic distribution of classes with the Class.vi of time run preserve, but it does not work outside the distribution dynamic (I think).  I also played with various combinations of the more specific Class.vi, to twice get errors, 1446 and 1448 respectively.

I managed a work arround by using a functional global variable to store all parent data, then get it for children to use.  Subsequently, I found this post on the forum , which also suggested the same thing.  This technique goes against the principles of OOP inheritance?

    2. assuming that above #1 problem can be solved, is there something special I need to do to pass data from parent to a child class and jump the class of the child?  I have a task in my hierarchy where two of my classes are essentially placeholders for future growth and the better organization currently (see the attached screen capture).  Support.class contains the GPIB information for all devices in the child classes.  So the Stand (ard) and Misc.HW classes are really doing nothing.  GPIB data must be accessed in classes Source and switch where it is applied to dynamic classes to send great-grand child.  Can I just jump Stand and Misc.HW classes and inherit the data directly to the Source and the switch?

Data from classes in LabVIEW are always private and accessible only via accessors children classes. LVOOP is also worth, not in function. So, if you plug a wire you get two copies of the instance of the class. A change to the data on a single thread will not appear in the other instance on the other thread. You can make your class behave like one a reference class if you use a digital video recorder to store the data in your class. When you create the object, you would create the DVR. You would release the DVR when you destroy the object. Inherited classes always have access to its base classes protected and public methods. Therefore a child class can directly call the grandparents, as long as it is protected or public.

  • Strange behavior with OOP on cRIO

I have a very simple VI - there is no blinking the LED USER1 on a controller for cRIO. When I run the VI cRIO targeted to a remote computer, it works fine. When I compile / deploy it, it works very well. If I take an example LV OOP and use it to put an object on the wiring diagram (continuous wire to anything) then run the VI of the remote computer again, it still works very well.  However, when I compile / deploy it, it no longer works (the LED is not blinking).

Any ideas on why just put an object on the cRIO-target code wiring diagram causes to work anymore?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ah-ha! Yes, that's what the problem was. I put the class in the specification to build, and now it is not working properly.

Thank you very much for your help!

  • How to get the reference or the property of a member in OOP node?

    Hello world

Is it possible to get the referral of a member in OOP?

After you have created a class and an insert, a member of control in the cluster, I conclude that, when a right click on it, there is no element of "creat-> reference" or "create-> property node?

So, how to get the reference or the property of a member in OOP node?

    Hello

There are a few reasons that you can't do what you want to do:

1 al ' LVOOP ordinary (as opposed to the DVRS in LabVIEW 2009, or some other framework / pattern design) are items of LabVIEW by value, as a cluster and therefore you can not create a reference to a class.

    2. a control of the object (this is what you get when you drop an object on a façade) is a 'black box' because you cannot look inside. This is to support the idea that the class data private. This means that you can't get a reference to all internal control when its on a façade

    3. check the references are valid only for the controls in the Panel before and therefore any class (or other piece of data of LabVIEW) on a wire / shift register / constant / anywhere other that of the façade, will have only the data portion of the available control.

To access the items within a class, you create the accessor screws (you can create them easily by right-clicking a class (or the folder within the class) in the project tree and selecting New-> VI to access data members.) This VI would at least have a unbundle / bundle node (depending on whether its read/write) and could, if you have many more features such as range checking. You can use this VI whenever you want to read the Member your interested.

    I hope this helps.

  • Are LabVIEW OOP "Helpers" editable?

I am finally 'byting the bullet' and try to refactor one of my projects using LabVIEW OOP (seems to me ideal for OOP-ify).

But I have a few "picky questions."  I don't always like how LabVIEW ' ' help me.  Some things that I can change (such as the default value, the class icon), and I do.

But others I would change to conform to my own personal style.  Here's an example - create a new VI to access data members.  Works very well, but the terminals of the error are named 'error (no errors)' and 'error', while I use "error in" and "Mistake Out" (notice the controls money also use the 'prettiest' names this last).  While I think of it, what happens if I want to use Silver (or system or even classical) controls?

Another thing is that I try to "encourage" me to use the revision history by activating the Option "question a comment during recording a VI.  Whenever you create a new VI for... There seems to be a lot of 'save' past in the background because I need to click 'OK' (for backups to Historylv_icon.lvlibp) several times.

Are the (I assume scripting) processes used to help available and editable?  I realize that if I start messing around, I could create a mess, but that's why re - install has been invented!  If this isn't the case, I'll just smile and work around it.
