  Out of the blue, firefox suddenly began to open links from Google and Yahoo search engines in a new tab instead of going directly from the original tab. I tried to type the control and shift keys, restart firefox, then by restarting the computer (to check). nothing works. Oddly enough, it was only these two having this problem, so I wonder if they have updated their own settings to force it.

  Sometimes installing a new program or if you have changed anything on your pc sometimes your browser by default can change.

  Go to start > default programs > set your default programs > a list of default programs, > select Internet Explorer (if you use IE) If you use IE select the browser that you use from the list, then select "Set this program as default", then press OK. Now please try to open your browser/upgrade to update your program to see if it loads correctly.

  If it still does not work, you can check the following:

  You can also check file extensions are setup correctly do the following:

  Go to start > default programs > now click on associate a type or Protocol with a program file > file extensions list > scroll down the list until you reach the bottom making sure everything looks correct. HTTP: should be defined as the browser you use to navigate the Web of Internet Explorer for example, if it shows your browser, close the window if it has another program, select HTTP: then click on change program, then select the Internet browser that you use from the list.

  Just type your text, select it and click Insert, then link or message just open > click Insert > click link > Type Text > link > OK

  However, if FF is already running, by clicking on the link only FF put in the foreground, but does not open a new tab, or the link fills in the current window tab. The only way to make it work is to right click to get the 'Quick Look' URL, and then open this page.

  This is happening to me, same, on Mac OS X 10.6.8 but only since I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, 32.0.1. I can click on a HTTP link in another application and Firefox becomes the active application, but it will not load a new tab for the link, as expected. Instead, it just sits there. I have to go back to the other application and click on the link a second time, during which point Firefox correctly open a new tab and load the destination URL.

• When I click on the + sign, I don't get another tab even if an extra tab open if, for example, I click on a link in an e-mail or on a website.

  Before the last update, I could open a new tab by clicking on the + sign to the right of any open tabs. None. Nothing happens. For example, if I get an email from Facebook that says that someone has posted, and I click on the link, I'll get a new tab open, and Facebook will be there. Then I have two tabs open and can navigate on either without problem. If I click on the + sign, all nothing happens. I am perfectly able to open Safari with Firefox running and I get several tabs to get there without effect on Firefox. In other words, I can come and go.

  I've been on this site before and 1 tablet would open normally.

  I think this started to happen when I clicked on 'Restore Default Set' in the window customize the toolbar.

  This does not happen with IE or Chrome browsers.

  The link DISPLAY on top of the site, seems to be the only link that what is happening.

  Hi jorb, it doesn't surprise me that scripts work sometimes differently in different browsers. Unfortunately, the scripts are hard to follow, so I can't offer a specific solution.

• Right click on the link open in a new tab won't open

  After the upgrade to the new version, 27.0.1, my function right click to open the link in a new tab stopped working. I can not open in a new window either. When I click on the link that I would like to open in new tab or window, the right-click window appears, I click on the function desired and closed the window right click and nothing happens.

  I also noticed that there are many additional functions that now appear in the window right click, for example.

  Play, Pause, Mute, turn on the microphone, etc..

  They could have been there, but I don't remember these features before. They could, BUT it is perhaps the case of not really noticing them because everything worked and now that I can't open new tabs/windows, I now notice them. Not sure if this is related to the issue or not.

  I turn them off to see if they caused the problem, but the problem persists.

  In fact, the issue re-emerged so I upgraded Firebug and it worked, but it seems that Firebug was the question.

  Clear the cache and cookies from sites that cause problems.

• By clicking on the links in the chat boxes or on my desk is no longer them opens in firefox.

  When I click on the links on my desktop, nothing happens. When I right click and choose 'Open with' I can't choose firefox as an option. I can always open links in Safari.   Try making sure that Firefox is the default browser: Firefox make your default browser. If it does not see setting Firefox as the default browser does not work - what to do.

  On the one hand, you cannot uninstall Safari.  It comes as part of the operating system.  So, I don't know what you've done or what you think you did, but this is not that.  Could you explain more by what you mean with "I get reimage opening in a new window?  You can post a screenshot of what happens?

  Suggestions;

  1. make sure that your e-mail program is your default program.

  2. make sure that your Internet Explorer, or your main browser has all its faults.

  You can do both of the above by following these steps...

  Start button > right column, click default programs > click Set Your Default programs...

  1. click on your e-mail program > it doesn't say "this program has all its defaults"?
  If not, click on choose by default for this program > check all boxes below the list > click on save when finished.

  2 do the same as above for your Internet Explorer, or your main browser.
