Open new tabs unwanted Web page

Whenever I go into a new tab, he launched a Web site called search.conduit. I would have preferred a blank page. Some users seem to have had similar problems, and I have tried the solutions presented to them without success. I have already tried:
(1) research Reset add-on. This is meant to reconfigure your home page and the new tab settings. He has reconfigured the homepage, but not the new tab setting.
(2) in the about: config. I went and tried to change the setting of browser.newtab manually without success. Then looked my user script, as suggested by and don't see anything there that seemed related to the problem, there was an "extension" that seemed to be a problem.

Very frustrating situation. I don't understand why Firefox, it is so easy for the sites of pernicious to corrupt the user experience and so difficult for users to fix.

I just remembered!

Another thing that may cause you to not be able to change the subject: configuration settings is a faulty extension or malicious extension. You should start Firefox Safe mode to see if you are able to change the settings of about:config safe mode.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox orange, (upper left button

V29 +) / tools > Modules > Extensions) is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: orange Firefox button, upper-left (corner)

V29 +) / tools > Modules > appearance).

  • Do not click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.
  • Windows/Mac: choose Help > restart with disabled modules
  • Linux: run firefox-safe-mode in the Terminal/Konsole

If Firefox is able to change after you delete all the user.js or prefs files, please skip this step and continue following my first reply you

    New tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement)
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

With Firefox 41 (and later versions), it is no longer possible to customize the
page displayed in a new tab by the evolution of the browser.newtab.url preference
in the about.config. Due to the fact that the hijackers abused the
preference in the past, Mozilla has decided to remove (see bug 1118285).
Fortunately, by removing it, Mozilla has also introduced a new API to bring
This feature to life as an add-on. This module allows the user

  • How to make the homepage to appear when opening new tab

Under Firefox 40.x whenever I opened a new tab, my home page appeared. When I upgraded to 41.0, opening a new tab displays the suggested sites. How do I have my home page appear whenever I open a new tab?

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using Classic theme restaurant: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

    Setting up substitute again tab

After installing this extension, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab override and click the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Success?

Once you have set it as you wish, you can close the Add-ons page (or use the back button to return to the list of Extensions of this Options page).

  • Disable 'open new tabs' privileges for an add-on?

Hello, I have 2 modules that continually open a new tab leading to their sites AFTER an update
My computer is slow, but I need plugins too.
Rather, I put them to update automatically, but how do I disable 'open new tabs' privileges for an add-on?

Maybe it's a small nuisance for some users, but I don't think that mozilla would do something against it is not violation of the guidelines of addon developer...

in fact, to open a new tab after some mozilla firefox updates itself, so that disable see: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections#w_whats-new-page

  • Firefox opens new tabs in the form of tabs first, then move on to the new windows

I'm running FF 14.0.1 and the problem has persisted through a number of versions.

Initially FF will open new tabs... CTRL + t work, do a right click to open in a tab etc all work fine. Sometimes the tabs are now question and I can get maybe 20 or open several tabs. And then other times we seem to be an arbitrary limit, say 5 tabs, and then each new tab opens a new window. No external link opens in a new window, a Ctrl + t opens in a new window, all new windows are the only image, for example, you can have a number of windows each tell 5 tabs, just the original (for example) window 5 and then a series of windows with only unique pages in each, and which Ctrl + t doesn't open a new window.

A full restart sometimes heals things and I can go back to have different pages in different tabs and then something... without obvious motive... launch us in the "new window only" mode after what even if I reduce the number of tabs in the original window many tabs, Ctrl + t opens only new windows.

He's really starting to happen to me... I have searched the technical support information and wonder about a full reset or even uninstall and reinstall. places.SQLite is verified as valid and I also, have it reindexed all to no effect.

Try Firefox Safe mode to see how it works there.

A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 4.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.

Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

  • I have version 9.0.1 on 2 pc, both xp sp3. 1 the button "open new tab" is visible, on the other hand, the "Open new tab" button is not yet available in the menu "Customize toolbar" drag / drop. Why?

I used the same setup file, but on 1 pc, the "Open new tab" button is available in the menu 'Customize toolbar' and can be dragged and drop on the navigation bar. On the other pc, the "Open new tab" button/icon is not yet available for drag / drop. I uninstalled firefox completely, including the settings and preferences, then reinstalled, but that has not fixed the missing button.

    Hello

Please try to restore the default value in the Customize... window. If it is still not visible, one of the reasons could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar, but can be hidden behind a different icon or toolbar.
