Open the Panel before Subvi in the executable

Hello

In my labview project the MainVI contains about 20 subVIs. My goal is that by clicking on a button on the Panel before the main VI I would open a special Subvi (assuming it to be sub - VI, 10). To do this in the labview development environment, I used a reference of openVI with its path of entry is the name of the VI vi I want to throw (Subvi 10), and then set a real constant on the front panel to bring up the control panel front of the Subvi. This works well in the labview development environment, but when I create an executable file I'm not able to open my Subvi. I looked around, on the knowledge base and found this article.

http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/24F54CF34391074D862570E6005857DE. But this talk article to launch the front each time the Subvi is called. This does not work in my case, because sometimes the user may not want to launch the Subvi. I also have a lot of controls and indicators on the Subvi, so there is no way I can get that on the main VI as she would not clutter on the main VI.

In the property settings for the building of the executable under the category of settings of the Source file, I see the option Panel before removing the dependencies, but it does not set the option for the Subvi individually. Only together, I can remove the front panel for all content items.  If no help on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to use static references VI instead of using 'VI open' with a file path?  With a static reference VI, the compiler has a better idea on what you are trying to accomplish during the execution.

I did it in before executables without any problem.  Personally, I like having a Boolean input of the Subvi, called "Display window" (or something like that) and then have the Subvi manage how it wants to open (or close) front panel.

It has more than this past... the code snippet a little caught of freedoms.

It is within the Subvi (which my main VI is still running).  The Subvi has a static reference to himself.  I have a button on the front of my VI main panel when you press on sends a 'true' to Boolean entry "display window.  The Subvi responds by opening the front panel upward. The opposite happens when the button is pressed.

This code was compiled in many executables and works without any problem.

Edit: Image cropped.  This Boolean coming is "First Call".  The function retrieves LV 2009 done this 'error 2' terminal.  Laughing out loud.  I wouldn't name which.

  • How to open the subvis before running software?

    Hi all

I wonder if there is a way open subvis with my main vi and have it run at the same time the main vi is running?  As soon as I double click on the main vi, I want the panels front-end Subvi to pop up with the vi main and run them all when I click on run on my main vi.  Thank you.

To get the sub vi FPs to open when you call, go to file > VI properties, select the appearance of window option in the dropdown menu, click Customize and check "see the front when it is called.

At least the front of the auxiliary of the screw panels, which will open as soon as they are called in the main vi.

As for having all FP open just by opening the main vi, but before you run the vi main, I'm not sure.

    Edit: a typo in

Edit 2: Under "before show Panel when it is called" is another option.  «Open front when load.»  Looks like what you want.  That check for all of your sub vi

  • Open the Panel front of the Subvi, which is called by reference in the EXE

I want to open the façade of a Subvi when it is called. This sub - VI will open the façade of a Subvi third level. So, I want to go back to the main.vi the output of the subVIs.
I can do successfully in the development environment.
I call on the reference asynchornously screws. If the screw load when they are called and the calling VI awaits the release of the subvi.

I am attaching the screenshot of the window subVIs properties customize.

When I build the application, the executable file could not be opened the Subvi front panel, even if the paths of the subVIs are related.

I also put the subVIs in the field "Always included" the build properties and the box "Remove front panel" is not selected.

I join the project and screenshots of the parameters.

If you had used the dialogues of error, you would have seen the paths of access to the VIs you build are not valid.  The screws are always included in the EXE file, so you don't have to do any special stripping of the VI EXE path.  A fake wire to your case structure determine the path, and it works perfectly.

Just dual-band is the path if you try to get the EXE directory.

  • Open the Panel before the sub vi when called - how?

    Hello

I have a VI with several sub live

I want VI sup front panels to open, if they are not open yet and if they are called, but I want to stay in the shadows.

There are two configurations of node Subvi: 'Open the front panel when loading' and ' display the front panel when it is called.

The two are not what I want. If I select ' display the front panel when it is called ', then the front panels are open but flickering because they are called often, and alternating.

Yes! All right, it works now! :-)

    Thank you very much!

  • Open reference vi to a string in the executable file

    Hi all

Scenario: A vi of above (main.vi) called two subvis (subvi1.vi and subvi2.vi) separately as they are executed in parallel. subvi1.VI has a façade that appears when it is called, subvi2.vi does not work.

subvi2.VI uses open vi Reference to get a reference to subvi1.vi. It then uses this reference in a loop and continuously queries the FrontPanel.IsFrontmost property to determine if the Panel before the subvi1.vi is more. When it's over, it performs certain actions. When there is no more - it doesn't.

This set works very well in the development environment, but as soon as I build this 'scenario' in an application I get following error:

subvi2.VI generates the reference to subvi1.vi using the string "subvi1.vi" as an input for the path terminal of open vi reference function. Why it causes problems in an executable built?

PS Clearly this scenario is actually a part of my project much more, so I don't have simple vi to attach

  • Sub - VI does not open (error 3 could open the front panel)

I work for the VI (the version of Labview 2011 trail), I created a Subvi. At the same time, I opened this Subvi to adjust terminals connection - what I've done before - and after saving the file and its closure, the Subvi is remained unadjusted. In fact, I am not able to open the Subvi more. And when I want to open the file in a VI (e.g. running VI in windows), I get "' load the error code 3: could not open the front panel." "

I can't also preform any task for example the recording of the main program for an older version, because this Subvi is present in the program.

Nevertheless, the VI still works as a Subvi in the mainprogram I wrote - in how it worked until I adjusted the connection terminals.

Is it possible to solve my problem without having to rewrite the entire Subvi? The Subvi about is attached in this post.

    I thank in advance

PS. After the closure of Labview, it sends an internal report of the caveat.

    Hi all

I added this issue to an existing bug report (what we call a request for Corrective Action); There was one reported with Labview 2010. I added this matter to him. The reference of this application is CAR #251753. With this reference, you can always ask the status of this bug report.

  • Outsourcing of the controls on the front panel for a panel floating Subvi

    Hello!

I already found a few similar topics, but I still don't know which is the best way to solve my problem. I will try to describe my problem in detail first: I have a main VI that acquires data from a device and displays these data in a large waveform graph. I have also a few controls on the front panel to control my device. First, I placed all of these device controls (digital, sliders, etc.) as well as the chart inside the front of my main VI. However, due to limited screen space now I would like to make the largest possible graph and so decided to "outsource" some controls out of the main façade of VI to several panels front-end Subvi.

I would then press a button in my main VI and it would open the Panel before the floating of the Sub - VI corresponding with outsourced controls when required. However, everything must be absolutely transparent. It is important that floating panels to run in parallel with my main VI, that is the main VI must continue to operate. That way I'll have my data constantly updated in the chart in my main VI while I can change some settings of the device through the controls placed in my SubVIs. These changes will be immediately applied (for example as soon as the main VI calls this slot - VI in its main loop).

It is important to the visibility of the outsourced optional control panel, i.e. If the Subvi front panel opens with the user that it will pop up and the user will be able to change the paramers device using the. But then the user should be able to close the front panel (hide) the Subvi to see the entire chart again without the Panel floating in front of her (of course control values must be maintained when the Subvi front is not visible). Then the new button is pressed in the main VI that opens the dialog box not modal Subvi containing controls and it can redefine new values of device.

Advice how to do this are welcome. I don't know if I need something complex like VI server or asynchronous screws or I can solve my problem by changing some settings simple Subvi? Thank you in advance for your help!

    Best regards

How about using a global variable for the VI at VI communication instead of a queue?

A global variable will, also.  Write you in one place and read the value frequently to somewhere else (in the election). So you can see easily to any value change.  However, mark will waste a lot of time processor.  This is why I have proposed to use a queue or a notification utility.

    AStankov wrote:

Would be the last option that you mentioned, i.e. finish the Subvi at each change of value, I would keep the Subvi front open as needed until things from the user to hide? Or would there be inevitable flickering Panel or any other drawbacks?

Yes, the Subvi can keep the façade open until the user closes. And there should be no flickering.  The biggest drawback I see right now is that when you expect an event in the Subvi, the mainVI cannot stop without talking to the Subvi to stop.  So you'll need another channel of communication (again a global, a queue, a declarant or an event) to tell the Subvi that she must stop.

  • Cannot open the secondary an executable after upgrade 2009

I have a request that I had built in an executable in LV 8.6 open successfully several sub-panels using calls to the VI server. I use the App.Kind property to programmatically determine if the application runs in the system development or as an executable file. In both cases, I first use the Reference.vi Application open to get a reference to the instance of localhost, then I pass this reference to the Open Reference.vi VI, as well as the path of the VI. In the case of development system, I pass the absolute path to the VI to be opened in secondary school; in the executable file, I just pass the name of VI. Since each Secondary VI is included in the executable version (in the.) EXE file; always included), RTE has never had any problems finding files VI and by opening the sub-panels.

However, after the LV2009, my executable update can't find the screw more. I checked they are all designated as "Still included" in the specification to build, and I rebuilt the executable several times, trying different possible paths (absolute and relative) to try to coax the RTE to find the necessary files. But everything I try it, still no luck. I'm still stuck with error 7 - file not found.

Are there known issues with calls to the server LV2009 and VI in the executables? Does anyone have any ideas as to what could have changed that a running executable to screw would build between versions 8.6 and 2009? I would be very happy to help.

    Hi image,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

    a. what exactly happens when you try to open the mouse settings in the control panel?

    b. do you receive any error messages?

I suggest that you want to run System Restore on your computer.

System Restore will take your computer state permeable when it did not face such a problem, this can be done by selecting the correct restore point.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.
