  I had the same thing happen to me.  Go to the WVC54G product support page, then select Version1.0.  Download the installer from here (even if you have version 1.1 I did).  Running as the Wizard instead of the one that is on the cd has worked for me.  Good luck.

  Dear Mr Tomlinson,

  As you suggested, I immediately installed the 7.02 update. It does not solve my problem. I uninstalled IE7, that solved my problem.

  Maybe it's a warning to all users to the current 7. Stay away from IE7!

  I'm on my second OfficeJet 6700 in 5 weeks.  Both with the same problem.  If you open the lid to scan a page of a book, the scanner will start, scan about 2 inches and then restart.  You receive an error message that the original document is stuck in the ADF.  I wasn't using the ADF.  Once this error occurs when, the printer is done until you unplug, wait, then reconnect.

  I went through all of the suggestions I found on the forum.  I am about to resume clips and find another brand, unless I get a good response.

  Brother MFC-J870DW - $119.  Not as good a quality photo printing, but the lid pivots actually upward for books, magazines and other.  installation was a piece of cake, too!

  Sorry, HP.  I really want to find a way to keep this 6700.  Maybe someone will read this which gives a tear on the client.
