opener restoring default zip file

I downloaded the "zipfix_vista" registry repair and tried to merge following the instructions and just opened in Notepad.  What I'm doing wrong or should do next?  He recorded on my download folder and I right click their get the merge command.

Hello, Help, I need somebody,

Where did you downloaded the zipfix_vista. file of?
They give instructions after you download the file?
You are connected to your desktop with an administrator account?

I delete your current file and then download and save the new file on your desktop.
Once on your desktop, if you right click you see Merge option at the top of the list? If so, then right click and select merge again.

If this does not work, you may need to check with the person who wrote the merge file.
I would also check that you have selected the right file for your operating system.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

  • How can I open the compressed (zip) files? I can't get the order of the compressed folder tools

I followed the instructions on how to open the zipped files. Nothing works. I open file Explorer, but there is no menu, taking me to the compressed tools command and so I can't click extract all. I clicked on the home tab, as well as on the Properties, but the general tab does not give me the option opens with, File Explorer.

To do this, and ignore all the other answers:

Go to your control panel. Click programs (not uninstall a program, but the real link of programs). Under "default programs", you will see a link that says: "do a type of file always open in a specific program.

Form there, find the extension .zip file and click on it to highlight it, and then click File Explorer (I think that's it, now that I have fixed my I can't find .zip in the list more but you will know which program to choose when you see by the folder icon).

    After that, you're golden!

  • Impossible to open or extract zip files.

It is the first time that I tried to extract files compressed on my new machine. I have several zip files that extract not. When I try to extract, I get a message saying:

"Cannot complete the compressed (zipped) folders extraction Wizard.

The compressed (zipped) folder is empty.
Before you can extract files, you must copy the files to this compressed (zipped) folder.

To close this wizard, click Finish. »

The properties of zip files show that they are 100 + MB, so they do not seem to be empty of this point of view.

    Any ideas why this happens?

  • Windows does not open Zip files more

I use Windows 7 Professional for a few years now and I've always been able to open the zipped files.  Suddenly now my pc does not have a program associated with the opening of the zip files.  Something has changed and I have no idea of what has changed.  I asked this question before a Microsoft.com site, and he sent me to a site that was not Microsoft where I tried to download 7-zip which worked. But in the download zip 7 process it has also installed other applications that try to sell me unsolicited garbage.  I am appalled to see that Microsoft would send me to a site that attempted to install unsolicited applications.  Come on guys, just give me my windows version of WinZip go back so I can go about my business.   I have reviewed questions in this forum about this topic and it seems that it lasts for awhile now, surely someone at Microsoft noticed this problem and has a solution for this.  Can we download a fix for this.  Where in Windows is the program that opens zip files stored?

    Hello!

How it's done, is described here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

    Hope that helps.

  • display zip files... what should I do now to see the content of my zip file?

Sir ihave downloaded songs on the internet that is downloaded as a zip file format... and I have change the path of the zip opening and is open with internet explore form.and, now when I open my file zip my scenn begin to blink heavlyy after that I have to do my computer turn off or restart...

What should I do now to see the content of my zip file?

    Please help me...

You must extract the files zip first and then open it with a program that can open that particular file type.  So in this case, even if you use Internet Explorer to download files, you must use Vista to extract to the desktop (downloads or music where ever you choose) by right-clicking on the download, unzip the folder and create a new folder with the decompressed files and then you can use WMP or any program you use to play the songs.  But it does not work because of the changes that you did - but we can fix that easily enough.  It happens quite often with many different programs (ZIP especialliy because a lot of people care less about the ZIP of Vista program and cause problems in trying to change).  I suggest that you pay attention to what we're about to do what it will be probably useful more than once to you later for other types of files (I use it often, but I use it often when I install a new program and do not have default values, he created).  Although the first procedure is for most of the types of special system files and so generally used only for repairs (with the exception of ZIP), the second (if you actually need to use it) works with all other types of files.  I recommend that you create a new folder in the Favorites, called "File Association Changes" and add these links so that they will be easy to find if you need again.

Here, the first thing we need to do is Zip file association fix it back to Vista of Internet Explorer.  Go to:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll down to ZIP and then click or double-click on it to run the program that will reset the association back to its default values.  If you don't like the Vista Zip program, I recommend trying 7 - Zip free but excellent:http://www.7-zip.org/.  If you wish, set as the default zip file by using the following:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/20/how-to-edit-or-change-file-type-or-extension-associations-default-programs-in-windows-vista/.  If you wish, you can add send to 7 - Zip to the right-click context menu as follows:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67599-send-context-menu.html.

Once, when you find a zipped song you want, download it to the desktop or wherever you choose and use the 7-Zip program (depending on what you set as the default value) is the Vista to unzip the file, and then save the decompressed everywhere song where please.  You will now be able to play with any player you who manages songs with this type of file (if you click twice on the song, it should open the default program and start playing automatically).  Now you can do what you want with the original zip file you have now the actual file - you can save it if you want (although I don't see why you need to do when you have the actual file) or you can simply remove as needed.

That's all. The problem should be solved and you must use the program ZIP Vista or 7 - Zip to unzip all zipped files or folders (downloaded or received as attachments to emails, or transferred by a flashdrive or however obtained).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot create a zip file in Windows 8

For some reason, I don't have the ability to send files in a folder compressed (by right-clicking on the file and then using the menu 'sent' to a compressed file. Also, the icon zip under the sharing tab in the file browser is grayed out, so I can't create the file zip file that way either. Is there a setting I need to change back to the possibility of creating a zip file in Windows 8? I downloaded and am currently using a 3rd zip application part as a replacement for Win zip 8, but wonder why it is no longer available. I'd appreciate any help!

    Great news.  Please check.

Download and run the import of this registry file to restore default .zip and .zfsendtotarget file type association settings.

    Import Registry ZIP file

After execution of this file and its importation of your registry (just save and run), changes should take effect immediately.  If this isn't the case, give a restart and test once more.

Try re-registering the DLL that controls how the Zip files are open.  Click Start and in the search for field type

    Regsvr32.exe /u zipfldr.dll

Press ENTER.  Click Start, then in the type field search

    Regsvr32.exe zipfldr.dll
