Cannot create a zip file in Windows 8

For some reason, I don't have the ability to send files in a folder compressed (by right-clicking on the file and then using the menu 'sent' to a compressed file. Also, the icon zip under the sharing tab in the file browser is grayed out, so I can't create the file zip file that way either. Is there a setting I need to change back to the possibility of creating a zip file in Windows 8? I downloaded and am currently using a 3rd zip application part as a replacement for Win zip 8, but wonder why it is no longer available. I'd appreciate any help!

Great news.  Please check.

Download and run the import of this registry file to restore default .zip and .zfsendtotarget file type association settings.

Import Registry ZIP file

After execution of this file and its importation of your registry (just save and run), changes should take effect immediately.  If this isn't the case, give a restart and test once more.

  • Error: Windows backup could not create a zip file.

I installed Windows 7 RC.  Installation went well, system runs quickly with no problem except when I try to perform a backup.  Seems to work at the end of the backup, and then fails with the error message «Windows backup to create a zip file» could not  «This could because the reader what is installed on Windows isn't a not enough space or it could be a temporary error.»  Make sure you have at least 400 MB of free space and try again' drive Windows is installed on has 163 GB of free space.  I tried several time backup on a separate internal drive > 300 GB of free space and a NAS drive (> 1.5 TB of free space with the same error message).

    Hi mhgreene,

Thanks for posting "Preparation for Windows 7" community forum.

Of after the information provided which happens usually not, is that the system tries to write to the partition recovery or diagnostic partition instead of the C:\.  You can confirm the backup partition is written is done to partition the drive, and you want the backup to reside.

  • How to create a zip file of AcrobatXI in windows 8.1?

How to create a zip file of AcrobatXI in windows 8.1? acrobat.com documents?  Sorry do not know what the community to ask this in this community?  The email provider I used didn't seem to want to accept thanks Adobe send first and since Adobe send ends January 6, I'm assuming a zip file is best...  I thought I had seen an Adobe Zip file somewhere, but have not been able to locate him. Any help appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Sherrie

    Hi Sherrie l.,

Send Adobe is the current solution to Adobe for sending large files. (This is Adobe SendNow who retires soon.) Can you tell us what you were running by using Adobe send?

It is not a special version of Zip for Acrobat files, but you could reduce the size of the PDF file if you have Acrobat. Or, in Windows, you can create a Zip file by choosing File > Send to > compressed (zipped) folder.

  • error 42 when creating a zip file

    Hello

I get a 42 error when I try to create a zip file in Labview.  I am deploying to a PSC module.  I try to create the file, and then my loop will close a data file when it gets to 1 meg and add it to the .zip file open and open another file of data.

I can't test the part until I can open a zipfile first.  Seems that I do not know how to specify a path? My way, that I use for the data file is "c:\k2XXXX.dat" with XXXX being the graduations to current.  And the zip that I use is "c:\K2data.zi" why does this job with creating zip file VI?  I use the vi path string.

    Thank you

    Hello Zener,

Please contact National Instruments!  I've seen this error before when using the ZIP screws on a controller of the PSC.  Unfortunately, this error occurs because the ZIP screws are dependent on Windows and are not supported by the operating system in real time. We are working to make these changes to the range of functions in real time.  I'm sorry for the inconvenience.  If you do not need to use the ZIP screws, then you should be able to transfer the data to a host computer and then call the screw ZIP from here.  If you have other questions about this please just after them here and we will help you.  Have a great day!

    Hello

You need to open ZIP files, which are compressed to make it smaller, then use the content
in the application appropriate - so if the audio or video content can use WMP.

Compress and uncompress files (zip files)
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/compress-and-uncompress-files-ZIP-files

Although Windows has integrated ZIP, you might be more comfortable using a program
with more features (and works with different types of compressed files).

  • LR6.5.1 creates the zip file for archive back-up and takes a long time

    Hey

have a quick question because I updated from LR5.7 to LR6.5.1 two days ago

I am runing a MACBookPro with OSX 10.11.4 system

I noticed two differences main performances, where I don't have an explanation for:

      1. LR 6.5.1 creates a zip file, when backup archive (automatically, or can we turn that off?)
      2. LR6.5.1 takes twice as long for the back-up LR5.7.1 (a reason for this?)

Thank you for feedback. These things wonders, if not explainable to me

    Best regards

Thx for the quick reply ultra th

Meanwhile, I downloaded 6.6 and again creates unziped version of backup

Could be, at that time there difference between 5.7 and 6.5 in creating backup has been due to the effort of compression

    THX and best regards

  • Question: Can't create ZIP files in Windows 7 Home Premium

So, basically, here's the deal.  Whenever I try to make/create a file ZIP containing separate files or even containing a single file, I get an error message.

"Could not complete the operation.  Access is denied. "

I am the administrator and I should have complete and total control right?  I need to create folders zip for the work, but the only way I can do right now is with WinRAR, which works very well, but I don't want to pay $40 more for something that I should be able to do that through Windows.

Anyone have thoughts or ideas on why I can't make ZIP (compressed) files?

    Help!

in regards to the third task... There is no merge option when you right click on it from the desktop.

I guess only he saved for you with the .txt extension. Just rename the .reg file, but...

On the previous message and the 2nd task, try this:

    1. Press the Windows key + R > type regedit and press enter
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.zip\OpenWithProgids
    3. In the right pane: right-click on the WinRAR.ZIP > delete
    4. You can also check these two keys:
      • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\OpenWithProgids (there should be only (default) and CompressedFolder )
      • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.zip\UserChoice (this should not exist)
    5. Close the registry editor and restart your system.
  • Cannot create the destination file during the file extraction

I am trying to install a program from a zip compressed file, but Windows will not let me. When I try to run the files directly from the zip, it tells me that 'the destination file cannot be created." Alternatively, when I try to extract the individual files in the zipped folder, I get "error code 0x80004005".

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and I've never had this problem before. Any help would be appreciated!

You can try to register the .dll file and see if that makes a difference.

From an elevated command prompt try regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

You can also create another user to see if they have the same problem.

  • "Extract all...". "request password on some files inside the zip, but no password was used to create the zip file

I created a zip of a directory tree file using "send to...". "'Compressed (zipped) folder '. When I try to "extract all...". ", he asks me a password for some (not all) of the files in the zip file. I does not have a password for the zip file. I didn't even know it was possible to have a password on a specific file in a zip! Needless to say, I can not give the password because I don't know what it is.

    I tried the following:

    (1) created with "send to...". "Excerpt from" compressed (zipped) folder ', with 'extract all... '. ». Result: request password.
    (2) created with "send to...". "" Compressed (zipped) folder ", extract with 7 - zip. Result: No password query. All the files extracted intact.
    (3) created with 7 - zip, extract with "extract all...". ». Result: request password.
    (4) created with 7-zip, extract with 7 - zip. Result: No password query. All the files extracted intact.

What I find most interesting is (3).
