How to open my external hard drive?  When I go to "Computer" to find the device nothing opens.

Hello

External hard drive never was not working properly on your PC?

Restart your PC and go back on the Start button and then go to the computer.  Don't you see the external hard drive? He still disappears?

Go to the Control Panel - folder Options and hidden files and folders is checked and also uncheck to hide empty drives.

Go to Administrative Tools--->---> Disk Management in the computer management and expand the screen entirely.  Don't you see the external hard drive?  There is a drive letter assigned to it?  If not, then you must assign a drive letter.  If the external drive is new and never formatted group, then you will need to format it.

  • Library of photos on external hard drive does not open

So, I recently backed up my 2012 macbook pro on an external hard drive using time machine and wiped the computer. The hard drive shows that my old hard drive was saved (there ~ used 400GB the 1 TB), however when I try to open my photo library, it tells me that files cannot be saved? I was wondering if there's another way to open these files in addition to using pictures? the file says it's big 235 GB so I know that my photos and videos are out there. If someone could help me that would be great! The last 5 years of my life are in this file. (,:

You cannot open a Time Machine backup of the library directly. You must first restore somewhere.

Time Machine is a backup tool, not a tool for archiving. It gives you a window of time retrieve data that has been lost in the backup source. You can't count on it to keep the files you want to keep indefinitely. All these files should be saved with the rest of your original data. The files that you delete from the source volumes will be finally removed from backups, after a variable delay which depends on your usage model and the size of the backup volume.

  • When opening pictures library from AN external hard drive don't no iCloud

I copied my library of photos on my external hard drive in the hope of making as his permanent home home.  Then, I help option keys and clicked to open it in its new location.  I then received the warning (paraphrased to the point); "to use the cloud for a library of Photos photo services, it must be located in the folder of images from the local hard drive."  I have not seen this reported by anyone online from any of the hundreds of people posting about moving the photo library.  Can you get it someone please let me know what happens?

What is the exact message? Of course to know exactly what it is is essential to help

What format is the EHD? It may be only Mac OS extended (journaled) and use iCloud photo library, it takes the system library (defined in the preferences of Photos)

S how it connected? There must be a quick link cable

And it cannot be used as your Time Machine backup volume

  • "My external hard drive does not appear in Windows Explorer and cannot open 'Help and Support', an error message" Windows cannot open help and Support because a system service is not ongoing.

    Original title:

Everything was fine until yesterday. Juice now, when I plugged the external HD into the USB port it does not appear in the 'my computer' window. It is recognized by the computer as it is present on the list of the "Disk Clean Up" and it also appears when I click on ' Safe Remove Hardware ' on the taskbar. But if she does not appear in the 'my computer' window I can't work with it or don't even know what it I have arquived in it.

Trying to find a solution, I realized that same 'information system' to 'System tools' is also not available. Pops up a window saying that "Windows cannot open help and Support because a system service is not ongoing enforcement. " To resolve this problem, start the service named help and Support '. OK, I tried to open 'Help and Support' ' Start Menu ' and the same window appeared again to "not have a system service that runs". I don't know what her soul precisely and I have not the slightest idea of what I need to do to correct this 'disappearance' of Service 'system '. There is nothing without the appearance of HD in the window of thw work? Everything else works fine and the calculation is virus-free. What should I do?

  • Problem with 'open with' records not of programs on external hard drive

Hi - I have several large programs installed on an external hard drive. Previously, there were no problems with the program and files associated with the other. My computer had to be rebuilt recently and all re-installed with the exception of those programs on the external hard drive. My files get recognized by windows - when I am asked to browse to find the program and I select this program from the ED - windows will not add to the 'open with' list of programs. I don't see what the problem is and a little lost. If anyone can help I'd be really grateful, as I have quite a few files that I have now correctly open questions.

    Thank you

When you install a program, two things happen: the program get
When you say let it go, and * pointers to many parameters and references
It is set in the registry and elsewhere in \windows (there are
an occasional exception, but usually only with a small single
    programs).

Thus, when Windows has been reinstalled, all these many pointers, settings,.
and references to it in the registry and elsewhere in \windows
have been lost. Programs cannot operate without them.

For this reason, separating \Windows and installed programs
(especially on an external drive) is a bad thing to do.

When I open my external hard drive via my laptop, windows Explorer restarts automatically. Why is it so? It opens perfectly well in other major tours. I use windows vista.

    Hello

    ·         You receive an error message when you restart the Explorer?

    Method 1:

You can run a scan on the hard drive to check for errors and repair if there is no performance problem.

    Reference:

    Method 2:

Attempts to start in the State of clean boot and check if the problem persists.

  • External hard drive detects but does not open without formatting

I can't open my external hard drive. In computer science, it shows just K of disk space, but there is no reading of storage. It says 0 bytes of free space and used as 0 bytes space as it will not be open until I have format. Any kind of help, please let me know. Its a backup disk that have been most hard, though don't know if its of any help.

    Hi Deborah,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing right now. I will help you on that.

Formatting a disk means configuring the disk with a file system so that Windows can store information in there. Usually, when you install a new hard disk on your computer, it must be formatted with a file system, such as NTFS, Windows can store files that it contains.

Please answer the following questions so that we can better help you.

1 - is the specific problems of a hard drive?

    2. is it the problem persists when you use different USB ports on the same computer? If 'yes' then tick the question in another computer and let know us the results.

    3. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

I suggest to follow the steps below and check. Please move to the next, if only the problem persists after completing each.

    Method 1
Convenience store equipment and peripheral performance such that it can solve some common problems associated with the hardware attached to the computer. Follow the steps from the link below to be executed, which.
Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

    Method 2
Run Windows updates and check if you have any availability for USB drivers. You can check the link below.
Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Update-driver-hardware-ISN

    Method 3
Access the manufacturer's Web site and download the USB, the BIOS and drivers from the chipset and check the issue.

Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved.
Changes to settings are at your own risk.

I hope this helps. Please write to us if you need further assistance.
