Satellite Pro 6000: Windows XP installation problem

Win98SE works well on my Satellite Pro 6000. I put XP on it.
During commissioning, I see the logo "windows XP pro. But after loading XP, I have no picture.

Save mode then also does not work, I can't see anything.
What I've done wrong? It seems that the video driver is missing?
With the recovery cd is everything works again. (win98se)

Someone at - it solution to put XP on this laptop?
Gr. R.

Hello

In my opinion, there should be no problem with the use of Windows XP on this unit.
As far as I know the laptop came with WinXp pro, W2k and Win98SE.
In this case, all required drivers are available and must be installed in the correct order.
I assume that the installation and the installation procedure has been authorized. Did you install it on a second partition? You format the HDD to NTFS?

    Hello

It stops without any error message? If this isn't the case, then try another copy of Windows XP since the Satellite Pro 6000 shouldn´t have problems with this drive. I had 2 years a similar machine and I also got a 60 GB Toshiba HARD drive installed. It worked like a charm, so I can't imagine that the hard drive could be the problem.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 and Windows Vista

I bought a Satellite Pro 6000 and I want to put Windows Vista on it. I did an Upgrade Advisor and I was told that this graphics card will not work. Is this true?

I'm afraid that's true. Satellite Pro 6000 is old enough for laptop and it will not supported in Vista. Install Windows XP Home edition and enjoy your life.

    Hello
    I don't have a model satellite pro 6000. PS600E-01NYE-FR

I understand that it is an old laptop but had been treated with great care because I got it.
    My problem is the following;

Startup of the laptop is a route very well, but for some reason together and after no set amount of time the display fails
a wot is visible on-screen is hundreds of tiny colored blocks, sometimes random horizontal lines
but nothing is readable, at all.

I tried to run a yellow one also using the video output external monitor, all appear the same.

I am not a technician, but I assume that there is probably a problem with the video card. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You should contact the service and make them run tests to verify the functionality of the video card. If the card is faulty, just replacement will help.

  • Order of installation of drivers for Satellite Pro 4600 / Windows 2000

Does anyone have the installation order of drivers for Satellite Pro 4600 (Windows 2000)? I already found the site to download the drivers ([http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=DE]), but I don't know in which order should I install them.

    Welcome,

    Hello

There are not many drivers and utilities, so I recommend starting with Chip Set Utility, Display Driver, Driver Sound, infrared Driver, LAN Driver, Wireless Lan Driver, mouse driver.
Then follow with common modules and energy-saving, etc.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 RAM upgrade problems

Apologies for multiple - originally, I put this in the Satellite rather than the Satellite Pro series Forum.

I have an old Satellite Pro 6000 that has 256 MB of RAM in it, and accordingly, as he tries harder sound, it is not the fastest machines.

I want to increase the RAM to 1 GB, which I believe is the maximum and 2 sticks of memory of 512 MB PC133 CL3 3.3V, which I think should work fine.

However, I tried to install either as a pair or separately, with the 256 MB of RAM, and when I put the memory in, the PC resolutely refuses to start. The lights of power lights, but it is only it works.

I put the original 256 MB of RAM in the slot, and it works fine.

I'm something wrong or missing something?

    Any help appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

    > Am I something wrong or missing something?
Of course, you use the memory bad or is not compatible!

Initialization not after an upgrade of memory is a common behavior if the modules are not compatible or do not work.

You can upgrade the memory to 1024 MB (2x512MB) max and page Toshiba should run these modules:
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

  • Satellite Pro 6000 - how can I update the BIOS?

    Hi all

I have the problem that my laptop does not start 9 of 10 times with the message: * block 1 BIOS is damaged, call your service man.

I want to update BIOS but for the Satellite Pro 6000 I can only find an update the BIOS from Windows. But my laptop does not start! Rarely the machine starts, but when I try to update the BIOS, I get the message that I already have the latest version of the BIOS

    My questions:
    * Is there a BIOS update file that is a BIOS floppy? (for example the Satellite Pro 6100 has 2 BIOS files, 1 Windows and 1 making a floppy disk)
    * Is it possible to update the BIOS with the same version of Windows?

Or perhaps there is another solution for this problem? Has no need to update my BIOS?

    Thank you.

    Hans

    Hello

    I agree with Luke.
The rom Bios module seems to be damage.
Either it must be replaced or flashed again.

But you won't be able to do that! The update of the Bios on the Toshiba page focuses on winning and you will not be able to update if the windows are not running.

You last chance is an ASP that could check the BIOS ROM.
As I said, most high, maybe new reflash module Rom help but cela can be answered simply by an ASP technician who checked this.

  • Change of CPU on Satellite Pro 6000

    Hello

I just got back a Satellite of 6000 Pro with a broken RAM Socket. I wanted to put the P3M CPU in another Satellite Pro 6000 that currently contains only a Celeron. The physical Exchange was no problem, but after turning on the laptop, I can hear a permanent beep.

So is there a switch or something else, I have to change?

    Welcome them

    Hello

AFAIK if the laptop beeps it usually means that the motherboard is unable to get access to certain hardware devices. In your case, it could be the CPU.
It's not easy to say why it happens. Maybe the CPU has a malfunction or you use unsupported CPU or it s something goes wrong during the installation of the CPU.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 stop reboot

Hi, can anyone help? I installed sp2 on satellite pro 6000. Now, it will not be stopped, just restarts. Did not it before sp2. Any ideas?

    HI Martin,

I myself remember when I installed SP2, it needs to stop and restart the laptop in order to complete the installation process. It would seem that there problems on your system. I suggest you remove SP2 and re - apply to see if that remedies the situation.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 display turns off sometimes

    Hello

I hope someone can shed some light on a problem with a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 that I can't seem to get to the bottom.

The laptop has Windows XP Professional installed and works fine, except for the fact that intermittently (could be 5 minutes, maybe 90 minutes) the display screen is what I can only describe as 'blocks '.

The o/s plant (I ran BACK and Tests of diagnosis when the problem occurred) I would say movement of waves of mouse to the screen and activity HARD drive software continues running, except the screen is unreadable with blocks of color scheme.

Any ideas or suggestions as to what this could be, and how I could go about repairing it?

    Hello

    It's very strange question.
Have you tried to update the graphics driver? If not then please select this option.

Besides if the update doesn't fix this eventually it there something wrong with the hardware. In this case, it is not easy to say what could be wrong.
In your case, I recommend you connect the external monitor if the problem occurs.
If the color blocks will also appear on the external monitor so eventually the graphics card or motherboard is corrupt.

But, if the problem occurs only on the internal laptop display, so I would say that there is something wrong with the display or the FL-inverter.
In this case, you should contact the technicians to solve this problem, because guys have more experience than each common user like me and you.

    Good luck

  • Damaged BIOS 1 - Satellite Pro 6000 block

    Hi all

I bought a laptop, a Satellite Pro 6000, but after a few weeks, he refused to start and gave me the bios message 1 damaged block.

I downloaded the update to bios on the toshiba site, but it does not work.
I have an external floppydisc. When I put the .exe to upgrade the bios on a floppy disk and turn on the laptop with the ~ button, I get the message "ready for the update of the bios, place the update disk and press any key when ready."
I can hear the disk is searched, but nothing happened.

How do I update the bios or is there something else wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated!

In my opinion with the BIOS update you can't do anything wrong.
If you BIOS, update by following the procedure described in the document FAQ Toshiba and the BIOS update can not be done properly, I'm afraid there is a problem with the BIOS chip and it may be defective.

I can't say for sure, but if the BIOS chip is damaged, then you have a big problem.

  • Satellite Pro 6000 - new RAM does not work

    Hi all

New to this forum sorry if this was asked before, I did a search but could not find anything so here goes.

I just bought a new RAM for my Satellite Pro 6000. When I install it nothing happens the laptop won't boot. If I put the old stick in no problem. The ram I bought is unb 512 MB PC133 CL3 and old RAM 256 MB PC133s. I think little small to read with these old eyes.

I was told I might need an update of the BIOS but cannot find one for my laptop under 1.4 for the moment.
Any help would be thank Lindsey

I think that the new RAM is not compatible with the motherboard or laptop.

The manufacturing of the new RAM you said does not for me so I would buy an another RAM, such as Kingston. Kingston makes high quality RAM and many users here buy Kingston RAM to upgrade its RAM.

By the way: do you use the RAM or only the new? Normally, if you use two memory modules live, you must use it with the same specifications.

The update of the BIOS, you can find the Toshiba site, but this doesn t affect the compatibility of Aries.
