Operating system on Satellite Pro A120 freezes

I've recently updated bios to the most recent available. After that, I rebooted and now windows freezes at the point where it seems to load driver ACPI. Then after about 10 seconds, fan gets boosted to 100% of the speed and then it will not go further. I also tried to reinstall the system, but once it is done with the progressbar that both vista and xp to run before the installation, it freezes again.

Last thing I tried was to run Windows XP (security error) which works very well. To me, it seems that the bios has a problem any. Anyone know what can be the problem?

Hello

Are you sure you used a good BIOS for a series of good laptop to 100%?
The European driver Toshiba page you will find two different sets of Satellite Pro A120.
PSAC1E and PSAC0E.

Satellite Pro A120 PSAC0E the BIOS 3, 30-win is available and for PSAC1E, you will find a 3 BIOS, 40-win

Did you use the right method?

  • Satellite Pro A120 - clock system is slow

    Hi all,

Since a few days on my Satellite Pro A120 Windows XP system clock is slow (the data are correct).
Usually I realize it after turning on the laptop, sometimes even when the operating system is woking! I tried all types of virus/malware/spyware scan, system restore point. I guess the problem is the used battery from the RTC. Is it possible even if the data is correct?

    Thanks in advance

    > Sice a few days on my Satellite Pro A120 Windows XP system clock is slow (the data are correct).

I'm afraid I n t m understand what you mean by system clock is slow.
The BIOS clock shows incorrect data or time?

Have you tried to change the time in the BIOS and then to check the time in Windows XP?

  • Satellite Pro A120 - battery not found

    Hello

Technical details: I have a Satellite Pro A120, purchased about four years, running MS Vista. A year ago I noticed my battery has been virtually exhausted and bought a new battery (this one, to be exact: [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028NJAL2]). Since last year it worked very well and I have no reason to suspect that the battery itself might have a problem. Most of the time, I have the laptop plugged in, in any case.

However, recently (last few weeks, I think) I started to have occasional problems when all of a sudden I am notified that the battery can not be found - or rather, there is no actual notification, but the power icon in the changes of system tray with a small red on it X, and then the computer hangs. The touchpad still works and I can move the pointer on the screen, but absolutely nothing else says and there is no way out next to a hard reboot. Sometimes, if I catch the icon change from time to time and unplug the power cord (force the computer running on battery), it actually corrects issues. Not always, though.

Attempts to seek similar problem descriptions online were not very useful; most of the time, the description does not exactly fit my situation or the Seraph blames the battery or the operating system (which, in my case, to be as the wrong answers, since I said the battery generally works well, and I had the same OS from the start). Also a search of these forums did not have no useful result. I'll call my go - to computer store and see if their engineers have all the answers or if it's just the time to take the old horse pasture and find a new filly, but thought that perhaps the good people on this forum may be able to offer advice (additional).

    Thanks in advance,
    Yael

I think that no one will be able to tell what's wrong exactly; I think it is s battery issue but of course, no one can say it it s battery maybe motherboard or just a software problem. OPERATING SYSTEM.

Usually, the software should not affect the functionality of the battery and I think that it s more material associated.
The laptop is a little old and the battery seems to be old too so I think that the battery needs to be checked first

  • Satellite Pro A120 - fan run all the time

OK, so this is a strange...

I have a satellite Pro A120. It works with the fan on all the time and sometimes goes on a mayor go slowly (which I think can be reduced to overheating).

Operating system is Ubuntu and I installed the tool of sensors that tell me about the minute the temperature is 100 degrees c and the next one is 16!

I suspect that it is perhaps that the heat sink is full of fluff, but I can't find a guide step by step to dismantle the machine, clean it and put it back together again.

Can anyone help with ideas or resources?

    Thank you very much

    Nathan

    Hello

You do not need to disassemble the unit to clean the fans.
You can use a jet of compressed air which helps to remove dust.
I did it several times and it helped!

    Try it!

  • Satellite Pro A120 - can I upgrade to Windows 7?

I have a Satellite Pro A120 (model PSAC1A-045005 - purchased in Australia) I want to upgrade to Windows 7, XP
The Toshiba Australia website says it is not compatible with Windows 7 and the Windows XP upgrade to Windows 7 is not supported.
Searching the Web I found some sites that say they have the drivers on the computer. Only one address is the following:
    http://driver-Toshiba.blogspot.com/2009/12/Toshiba-Satellite-Pro-A120-PSAC1-for.html

No doubt these drivers would be unofficial. They would be reliable or would it cause problems?
I use a wireless router so would be particularly concerned if it caused problems with this

To provide you with accurate answers, someone must have the same model of laptop and test it for you.
To be honest, you will be very happy if someone here will do that for you.

So my advice is: install Win7 and test these drivers only. If something is wrong or you will not be satisfied with the functionality, you can back up the operating system more former and supported when you want.

  • Satellite Pro A120 - need drivers Server 2003

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 with XP Pro. But now, you have installed Windows Server 2003 because of certain practices, but he on ethernet and audio drivers. Can someone guide me how can I intall and can access the internet.

    Thank you.

To be honest, what do you want with a server on your laptop operating system? I'm a little confused on this m.

However, Toshiba does not support this operating system on your laptop so you have to look to external Web sites for drivers.
I put t know what Satellite A120 you exactly so that I can t find drivers, but you can find the driver on the site of the factory.
    For example:

  • Satellite Pro A120 hangs sometimes

    Hello

I've had my Satellite Pro A120 for a little over a month now, and during that time, he has frozen maybe five or six times. This is the type of crash response system, which completely stops can be recovered by using the Task Manager to end the process, and the only cure is to turn off and on again. When this happened, the laptop did not turn all particularly demanding programs, maybe Word, iTunes, or Mozilla Firefox.

This could be due to overheating? The Unit feels often hot to the touch around the vents on the left side, but not excessively hot. Is there a utility I could use to see if all the material is defective?

I ran the Toshiba PC diagnostic tool, but it says the hard drive, processor and memory are all very well.

    Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why it happened.
Yes, your suggestion is good. Something like that could happen if the temperature is too high. But if the laptop overheats the operating system should stop the unit automatically without warning.
However, to avoid overheating, don't forget that there is enough free space around the laptop for a good air circulation.

But also the software problem could be a reason for any frizzing. Then the OS on my laptop s brother frisottés several times. I just installed the fresh WinXP and since then everything is ok.
    You should study a bit

  • How to install the driver LAN for Satellite Pro A120

In fact, my problem is that I didn't know how to install the driver on my Satellite Pro A120 lan connect net throug.
The issue that there's no facility to do to complete the installation.

And theres other question that I need the Ethernet controller

My laptop was vista operating system installed, but I change and put Windows XP

    Please help me

    Hello

    LAN installation is very easy.
First of all, you need the correct LAN driver.
In order to download the LAN driver please visit the Toshiba driver page and choose your model of laptop.

Once the LAN driver has been downloaded, you will need to decompress.
Then you will need to access the Device Manager, choose the controller Ethernet (network cards) and must point to the place where the LAN driver was decompressed.

    Then finish the installation procedure.

  • Satellite Pro A120 fails to load after upgrade BIOS and XP to Vista

    Help

I have problems to make my laptop to load the Windows operating system. My laptop (no X6062917H series) was purchased in November 2006. I've recently upgraded the operating system to Windows Vista (Toshiba, Promotion) and was later to upgrade the BIOS of Toshiba.

This was done via the Toshiba site, opting for the upgrade via the Windows option. Since the upgrade of the BIOS, I have used this phone two or three times, and now I can't use it at all.

When I turn on the laptop now, all I have is a white screen with the arrow cursor. The cursor moves on the screen that I have spend my finger on the touchpad.

I welcome any advice on getting my laptop to the top and running, my computer knowledge is limited, please make sure it is as easy as possible

    Thank you very much

    Mr. Gibbs

It seems that you are using the Satellite Pro A120, which belongs to the series of PSAC1E.

It seems that the laptop can boot the operating system because the arrow cursor appears on the screen.

Have you tried to connect the laptop to the external monitor to check if you can switch the display to another monitor?
It would be very interesting to know if it s a graphics card problem or the internal display problem

If you will not be able to see something on the second monitor, I recommend trying to reinstall the operating system.
But if it is not possible to reinstall the operating system, you will need to contact the ASP (provider) in your country for the control of the laptop.

    Good luck

  • Performance on a Satellite Pro A120-185 with Windows Vista problems

Can someone help me with this.
My laptop is a new Satellite Pro A120-185 with Windows Vista.

I had my last configuration less portable, but you know what? He was faster!

I'm supposed to have cetrino duo 2, 2 GHz and cach of 4 MB, FSB 667 MHz, RAM 1 GB, even though they are at 533 MHz, 100 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive / MIN.

It is slow, not only starting, programs opening, plays something, the browser and even to copy from the CD to the hard drive sometimes give me time 4 days left!

Clicking on something takes forever. What's wrong?
Need less to say that with vista no and I mean none, of my devices are busy. Dongle Bluetooth, USB disk, printer, NAS, and and...

    Hey dude,

Please don t forget that Vista has been installed on your laptop and the additional tools of Toshiba and the utilities that control many additional features!
There is a huge difference between Vista and early Microsoft operating systems.

The Vista eat computer resources and many devices old don t work or cannot be installed because the 3rd device manufacturers don t provide Vista drivers!

In my opinion an upgrade to 2 GB ram would increases the performance of laptop.
All programs and utilities could be loaded more quickly
