Operations Manager Alerts\Notifications

Hi all

Anyone can advice if I can configure operations manager to warn me if a
virtual server has experienced a failure? I need to send me an email if an individual
Server is out of service.

I know, Director operations may send you emails when critical, immediate and
Levels of warnings are met in the following areas: administrative, health alerts
Risk and efficiency, but I want to only be notified by e-mail if one
Server broke down and not be who also bombed with all other alerts
come through.

If someone could help my question it would be very appreciated

Thank you very much

Hi all

I found a way to get an alert for a server that has crashed or is not a sensitive State. It is around the ends to get alerts on servers that do not respond but works.

How to:

1. in Vsphere running on VMWare HA (high Avialaiblity) on the cluster where you want your alerts from your servers to come.

2. under HA set VM parameters as required monitoring settings.

3. in Vsphere click the Alerts tab at the level of the cluster or the virtual machine, you want to monitor.

4. click with the right button on tab General alarm: create name-> Virtual Machine Monitor-> monitor for specific events on this object

Tab triggers: click Add-> to the title of the event change fall down to: "allowed HA VM reset with screenshot.

Actions tab: click on Add button-> Send an e-mail notification: "enter the e-mail address where you want the alert to go.

5. an email will be sent advising that the server has been restarted. You know that there was a problem on the server and you can view the event logs.

The above works, I tested by simulating an inadmissible server: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1007307

The alert checks to what VMware HA resets the server, and in this case, an e-mail is sent. VMware HA asks the installed locally VMware tools and local disk I\O on the server if they no longer meet because the server has projected or this blue never HA resets the server.

Thanks a lot for your messages.

  • Help to set up an email alert Notification

    Hello-

I've recently upgraded to vRealize operations 6.1 and have problems to work properly for e-mail notification alerts.  At the beginning I wanted to just receive email notification alerts when a certain group of machines in a VM folder have been low on disk space, I'm so tried set up a filter notification for this specifically. I got 9 active alerts corresponding to the criteria already active, so I canceled all the and waited for them to re - start thinking that I had received an alert when they did.  I never received when they re-triggered, however I received an e-mail informing you that they had been cancelled in the first place.  I thought that maybe my filters were too specific, so I played a little bit and tried to put the scope of the notification to all VMs with no other filter, then I tried an impact notification trigger - health with no other filter, then I tried a trigger of an alert definition and finally I tried to adjust the criticality of a low setting , but nothing I makes it so that a notification is sent when the alert is triggered.  Curiously, I receive a notification when I solve the problem and clears the alarm. Anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?

This looks like a problem known to point 6.1.  A patch was recently released to remedy.

    Hello

You are running a very old version of SANHQ.   The current version is v3.2.

The first error is quite simple, it seems that the incorrect IP address was used to add to this group.   What the dedicated management interface configured once it has been added to SANHQ?

The 2nd error could be a connectivity issue, old SANHQ, old EQL FW or table was very busy at the time.  It could also be linked to the incorrect configuration error if errors refer to the same group.

What a picture of model and firmware currently running?

    Kind regards

This version introduced a feature of configurable Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filtering to control the service and Application reporting of Application resources. For each resource type, you can set up a "black list" or "whiteList" filtering in the filterList.txtconfiguration file.

    • black list: the Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter ignores the specified entries. If a name of Service Application or an Application name is included in the "black list", it is not reported by the adapter to Infrastructure Navigator vCenter. It is the default setting. The Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter filters unknown names of default Application services.
    • white list: Infrastructure Navigator vCenter adapter reports only the specified entries. If there are no entries added to the white list mode, none of the resources of the resource type matching appear.

  • Annoying Alert Notification SNMP SAN HQ

Maybe if I add the email address of Mr Dell'Alba to this alert. Stop the madness. -This message was generated by the service Dell EqualLogic SAN headquarters (version 3.0.0.7189) running on vcenterserver.kembacu.org the following condition on WESTCHESTER (192.168.50.16) group has generated an alert notification: critical conditions: * 5/15/2014 13:39:37 * [ID: 14.2] could not establish the connection. * The HQ SAN server issued the group SNMP requests, some or all failed. Hi guys.

Three weeks ago I improve my vmware 5.5 to 6.0 platform, and I installed a new copy of vRealize Operations Manager 6.0.1 Appliance virtual.

    Descarga_vRops.jpg

So, I read that is a version 6.2 (Yes, guys very late, I know) and I wan't apply the update of my current 6.0.1 version 6.2 last version.

VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.2 Release Notes

So, there is an option "suggested fixes/upgrades" in any place, like Update Manager or something like that?

How can I download the correct upgrade pak? Some of them?

    Thank you.

    If you use VAPP.

  • vCenter Operations Manager doesn't show any new virtual machines added

    Hi all

I have a 5.5U2 of vSphere environment coupled with Operations Manager 5.8.4 vCenter in this environment, I have a strange behavior as new created virtual machines are not directly shown in the tree view of the infrastructure. Sometimes they raise within the hour, sometimes, others may need several days to appear.

If I want an immediate reflection of VMS in vCenter, I have the best "Workaround", I tried to restart the services Operations Manager vCenter virtual machine of the user interface.

All components are registered in DNS names, I checked that all entries are correct, that is the case. And they can be solved.

Operations Manager vCenter is secured by a member of MS internal CA of an Active Directory domain.

After "googleing"I've seen a similar question on hosts that are not visible, but not the VMs."

Some of you have already experienced this kind of questions?

    Thanks for your comments,

    Michael

As reported by the VMware support, it's normal behavior with this version of vCOPS. Switch to the 6.x version to solve the problem.
