opperating system

I wanted to discover an old operating system.

I went into Control Panel and click systems and printed the analytical system

He said it was running Windows 5.1 Service pack 3. But when I click on all programs and

go to systems and they say it runs Windows xp. What is the good?

I don't know where you see 'Windows 5.1' but which is, indeed, Windows XP.

If you right-click my computer and select Properties, or if you select "System" of Control Panel, you should get this:

EDIT:

You must have been run winver.exe, which gives this (on the same system as above):

The short answer is that you need to do an installation of Windows XP by booting from the XP CD and do a complete, 'new' install XP ofd. You must then install all the applications you want to use with it and all your user files (documents, photos, videos, music, & c).

It is a good guide to clean XP install. There are others.

What will work restores your computer to its original factory state using HP recovery media.  It is a DVD and CD set that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

The link is on the software page and download drivers for your PC: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/7137590/model/7484025

Once there, scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

    Good luck

    Hello

You can buy the CD from recovery of the ASP.
Also, if you want you can install the operating system from the original Windows cd and then you can install the Toshiba drivers you will find on the Toshiba site.

  • Tecra 8100: Problem installing OS - no recovery CD

    Hello

    any body can help me?
I lost my laptop opperating system and I have problems, put it back, as I have no recovery disc just a windows 98 and windows xp disc.
When I try to install one of the computer off will go so far then stop.

    Hello

You can order the CD from recovery of the Toshiba service partner in your country.
But generally, it should be possible to install the OS from the original CD of Microsoft. After this installation, you must install the drivers of Toshiba. The drivers, you can find on the page of the Toshiba driver.

But if it is not possible to install the original Microsoft OS, so there must be fault with HARD drive or the cd. Perhaps a scratch on the disc?
If the CD is ok so try to format the HARD drive completely. Also delete the partitions. And repeat the installation procedure.

    Hello!

I think that this is not a problem. Windows 7 is only a beta OS and at the moment, the pilot decision-making is not very good.

You might find some drivers on the site of the factory of the WLAN card. In your case, it should be Realtek.

  • Fixed Skype calls keep dropping out

    Hello

I run a small design studio and rent a landline Skype for my customer calls which I use with creative headphones. Unfortunately, every time someone calls me after 3 or 5 minutes, he gave up and I have to call back them and apologize. I have the latest version of Skype for mac.

I'm Mac opperating system Mavericks or 10.9.1

Using a BT wired with Ethernet router with good speed.

    He drives me crazy!

Anyone can help or maybe has a similar problem.

It is the memory allocation? Or my BT? Or Skype? Help!

I found the solution to this and I thought I'd post it here.

Basically, we have infinite BT at work and by default it boasts an active wifi BT framework, not to be confused with the wireless settings, but the wifi BT means people can piggy back on your broadband. It is outrageous that BT Bill share you your BB with others but that's why I switched from a landline to Skype BT. Your loss of BT

Anyway just go your BT router via the Admin Panel and deactivate the BT wifi setting, it was clipping and drop my calls on Skype. He is fine now. It takes 24 hours to activate.

It will not effect the broudband.

  • Satellite L650-11F - how to access HARD drive recovery?

    Hello!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-11F.

The other day I had a huge massive Goner virus (lol) and the computer is turned off. Whenever I tried to turn it on, it started to load Windows, and then restart. I tried to start Windows in safe mode but the same thing happened, just keep restarting. I tried to repair Windows (by pressing f8 and etc.) and without success, he kept restarting.

So I tried to put it because it came from fabric and when I press 0 or F1 happears just 2 options: choose an opperating system to start or press tab to select a tool: Windows 7 tools: Windows memory diagnostic

Can you help me please? Is there another way I can access the hidden hard drive recovery partition? Please :(

    Hi dakova,.

Ist it Toshiba's original OS is still installed? I ask this question because it of necessary for the recovery of HARD drive. If you have installed another OS, you can access t HARD drive recovery option.
In addition, recovery of HARD drive option is available if you press the F8 key before Windows starts. In the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer. The exact procedure is described here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

Alternative, you can take the Toshiba recovery disc. This will also restore the original settings. :)
