  Input test Apple tv interface is so pathetic and primitive and feels like the stone age. Its the most boring I've had in any interface computer or "smart." Is there a way to enter (say spell out) e-mail ID that cannot be recognized by voice, and that voice recognition is better compared to google.

  You don't have not provided us any information about the network or hardware you use or where this neg. 30 error is reported.

  My guess is the technician tested at the level of light at your equipment and measured - 30dBmv.  Most of the optical transceivers, GBIC/SFP, have a minimum level of optical input of-17 and - 29dBmv, according to the type (SX, LX, ZX, WDM).  So,-30dB receive level would cause errors on your link.

  Check the routing of the fiber to see if there are sharp turns or the kinks.  Additionally, make sure that the connectors are clean.

• HT-TC 260 Sound does not work via the video inputs

  I recently bought a bar of its HT-CT260.  If I plug the cable box bar using the optical connection, then it works fine.  If I plug the optical connection between the TV and my PS3, then it works fine.  But I get no sound, if I plug the bar directly to the optical input on my Sony KDL-40xbr2.

  Oddly enough, the bar works (TV at the bar) if the TV is on channel antanna, but not if I use the video inputs for my box of cable and the PS3.

  Spend 3 hours with Sony (useless) online support and assistance phone sony (well, but not solves is not the problem).

  The optical plug is designed to produce sounds when the content you watch contains audio digital. (PCM or Dolby Digital® technology) This feature is available on a selection of digital and video streaming shows and is not compatible with the standard of cable stations or analogue.

  The KDL-40XBR2 TV can only output sound via the connection perspective If the TV is using its own tuner (i.e. If the TV is connected to an antenna or direct cable line in the wall) which explains why you do not get sound when using the video inputs because cable box and PS3 use external tuners to your TV.

  I have the Apple Remote app on my iPad and iPhone.

  I like it.

  Can I listen to my iTunes (located on a mac mini) library, picking some playlist I want to my Apple TV which is hung at the entrance of my stereo.

  No complaints.

  Here's what I want TO do.

  Instead of streaming to my Apple TV, I want to listen to a speaker bluetooth paired with my iPhone as my Bose Soundlink.

  I don't seem to be able to do it with the Remote App. The Remote application appears as airplay only, so Bose don't pop up as an option.

  Looks like I could do it "merely" using homeshare in-app music from my iPhone, but I'm either something wrong or it works * REALLY BAD * compared to the Remote app (A) it takes for always to the music to my library (it is large enough), and (B) it seems not 'lose' it all the time & I have to start the process all over again (REALLY? SHEESH). Not worth it.

  Lately my work around has been simply load music directly on my iPhone to listen to my speakers Bose Bluetooth, but with all this high-tech stuff, this seems to be a quite clumsy option.

  use an Apple Airport Express and connect an analog cable to the audio output (or use a MiniTOSlink to TOSlink cable and connect to an optical input). If your device is equipped with a HDMI input, use an other AppleTV.

  Sharing the iOS App music is broken. There is no clear solution at the moment. Use another OS X active computer running iTunes works best for co-location-based on what you can do. AppleTV is excellent for simple Colocation you want to listen to Audio or video.

  Bottom line, use Airplay compatible devices, such as B & W Zepplin, A5 and Airport Express.

  First uninstall Sophos. Anti virus apps are not necessary and may cause problems. Remove the bittorrent as well. It can be a source od malware.

• Incredibly slow MacPro running El Capitan 10.11.6

  I have serious problems with my MacPro, and many of my problems seem to have arisen when I moved to El Capitan. My computer starts fine, but takes an excessive length - 10 - 15 minutes - to launch Apple Mail and InDesign 2015 CC in the Creative Suite. It's frustrating and I'm not sure what to do. I am a complete klutz when it comes to the "mechanics" of Mac with their operating system, even if I'm working with them since my first SE and PageMaker 1.0. My Mac over the years have run softly and I've met not something like what confronts me now. I don't know what to do - I do give up the machine and buy a new one, or is my MacPro "recoverable"? I found mention of EtreCheck on a post last night so I downloaded and it ran today. I hope someone can give me some guidance as to what I do then. Here's the report from EtreCheck:

  We had a lot of problems with our iMac freezing temporarily or lock until manually turn off the computer - it will not even Force Quit. There are moments that we get beach balls, and other times, there is no cursor, no scrolling, no nothin' '.  This often happens when we are on the internet and sometimes when we use programs such as Office for Mac.

  I know just enough about iMacs to be really dangerous, so I was wondering if someone better qualified could take a look at this report and make suggestions?
