Option on each folder to sort (sort different folders differently)

Hello!

Some of my folders I want to sort (to detail), by name, in other folders I want to sort by Date.  In Windows XP, when I would choose a sort option would apply to this folder.  Now in Windows 7, it seems to have only a single type by default that applies to all files?

How can I specify rules for different folders of different default sort?

Thank you

John Voight

To all,

I found great difficulty: simply open the files directly, no not as a library.  Then he remembers its sorting.  Simple as pie.

Hello and thanks for your question.

The change has been removed in Windows 7 by design. If you want to leave a comment about this feature, please see Windows 7 comments for your suggestion.

  • Folder OSX sort criteria when Dates are used as folder names

    Hello

I treat and store a lot of pictures in my computer and then, of course, eventually transfer to external storage. I used day/date/year (June 1, 2016) as the format of the folder names. OSX does not sort the folders based on these dates, instead it sorts them according to the number of days (I think). Is it possible to get the Finder to sort according to folder names and come to understand that the names are in fact dates?

    Thank you very much.

    Faurie

    Not that I know of.

To have the Finder by names of date, you can use the format YYYY/MM/DD (01/06/2016), which is quite standard in accounting, etc..

Note also that Finder can sort by date of creation, implemented to date and date added timestamps. If you do not see these columns in a Finder list view window, right-click on any column header and check what you want to see.

  • Where can I find the "remember each folder setting" option in Windows 7.

I thought it was possible in previous versions of Windows to check 'on' that Windows should remember from each separate folder view that I chose.
Sometimes I want to 'list '; Sometimes the "large icons", but I want Windows to remember for each folder separately.

    Hi, Lucas,.

This implies to modify the Windows registry. Remember to create a backup of the registry before making changes.

Changes in the size, the view, the icon or the position of a file are lost

If it is by default this option is no longer available.  If you do not want to see that it implemented in future generations, add your comments on this form

  • How can I change the folder under Folders options browse to open each folder in its own window?

No matter how many times I select "Open each folder in the same window", the files still open in a separate window. So I then several windows open in order to view the other subfolders. Also when I select "File Types" tab and I see that the extension of the file types: (folder) and (folder), they both show (none), which I guess is OK.  So when I click on the "Advanced" tab area 'Actions' watch [find] and [open] with Open being the DEFAULT action. But for Edit or delete buttons are greyed out! So anything that can be changed is the default action is open or find it.

I just want to be able to open and view the folders in the same window! Do you think I have to reinstall XP Home Edition, running around SP3?

  • Windows 7 - enable the display settings for each folder: folder options, "save the display settings for each folder".

    Hello.

Any one out there know how to activate the display settings for each folder in WINDOWS 7?

I'm especially interested in adjusting the size and the location on my screen.  A few days earlier, before moving to Windows 7: I could open a file, place and size where I wanted, and when I opened it again, presto!, even spot and size.

I've seen several posts of users seeking to turn this feature off.  I'm looking forward in opposition.   I would like to than windows "remember each folder view settings.  This particular configuration seems to no longer be available in Windows 7, screenshot attached:

Thank you for your time and your interest.

  • Is remember each folder view settings feature for a party?

Everyone remember of this Windows XP. You goto my computer/Tools/Folder Options.../View and there was formerly a check the box for "remember each folder view settings.

It will be built into Windows 7, any time soon?

The main reason why I love him is that I want my file music to open always as simply as possible, with a simple list of bands so it ends up being a really thin long window... It works pretty well. Windows 7 has completely lost the ability to do. I really want to have to use a 3rd party application... Please tell me it's be worked on... anyone?

    Hello

I've been looking for a solution for about 2 weeks and nothing has worked until now!

Last night, I think that I have found a workaround.  If you would like your records to maintain its display settings, then you records SHALL NOT USE THE LIBRARY to see!  the reason for this is because libraries allow you to access and mix and match the elements of one or more files quickly without moving them from their original location. Libraries themselves don't store your files or folders. Instead, they point to different locations on a hard drive or an external hard drive connected to your computer.

So, now that we have now that we can try to work around this problem I did and works very well for me.

    1. go to start - and click on your user name which is completely on the right corner.
    2. go in Tools - folder options - General tab must be low and click on 'show all files '.
    3. now you will see your "Username" folder appear under "library".   If you expand this (user name) folder, you will see your documents folders and folders of photos, music etc folders.
    4. open any folder you want, and customizes the view as desired. You can make this record at all! and it will keep its display settings.

It's worked for me!   I DO NOT USE RECORDS UNDER LIBRARY BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT KEEP THE SETTINGS OUT THERE! SO I SIMPLY CLOSE THE LIBRARY AND KEEP ONLY EXPANDED MY USERNAME AND ALL THE FILES IT CONTAINS.

I HOPE THIS HELPS... PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKED AND IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER BEST WAY TO HELP.

  • How can I see the number of messages in each folder

I just installed TB 24.4.0 on a new desktop of Windows 8.
On my older Windows 7 Desktop running TB 24.4.0, the folders pane is set to display the number of messages and the use of space in each folder.
Both machines are on the same "Classic view", but I can't convince a new one to view the same file statistics, only the number of unread messages.
Where can I find the option to do so?
