OPTION ROM - configure SSD as a CACHE

ZBOOK 15 HP

F0U63ET #ABZ

S/O: WINDOWS 7

My laptop has 750 GB HARD disk and 32 GB SSD which should work as a cache. I needed to re - install windows N/A 8-7, but I do not know how to set up the SSD as a cache.

S/O installed the 750 GB HARD disk in RAID mode.

When I try to install HP DVD Intel Rapid Storage Technology software anything happen. After reboot, software and drivers not installed. NO ERROR MESSAGE.

Screenshot shows you the current situation. I am not able to create a Volume as a cache in the ROM OPTION.

Hope someone here can help me.

Thank you!!

  • By using aol on an iMac with el capitan: what happened to the options to configure your accounts by mail?

    I need help with the new configuration for imap accounts in Mail. There used to be options in the control panel accounts that control things as if and when things are deleted from the server. Where did they go? They looked like this before, what Rkaufmann87 kindly posted:

    What precedes, that's what I used to see when I accessed e-mail accounts, and that's what I'm wanting to find in this new system. Now, click on accounts in Mail to open Internet accounts in the pane of system preferences and I see the image below. (Where I pasted the white block that says "name/e-mail address," my own name and address in fact display.)

    When you click details next to the account selected in the above, you get a dialog box that gives the kind of e-mail account - in this case, AOL - your e-mail address, your name and your password, with no other options. Here is a picture of that.

    Are the options of configuration somewhere else now? I'm lost on this. During exploration, Mail has stopped working. I had to delete and reload the account. And in the process, I lost emails from project. Thanks in advance.

    Oh gosh - I think that I found. It seems that you only access these features of in the preferences of Mail now, not from the pane accounts. Thank you!

  • Best Configuration SSD / worth it?

    My current configuration / construction. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LZKxP6

    I have 250 GB Samsung 850 Evo programs. I like WD Black 1 TB memory.

    I also have on hand two Scandisk SSD more with 500 MB read but only 128 write speed.

    I should even consider the use of these? One of the media to read / used in the project. One for the work disk cache.

    Will be 2 months before getting two other better SSDS. I have a few small projects at the end... use the dynamic link to After Effects (however I use Render and replace in Premiere Pro CC 2015 for some dynamic aspects of AE).

    Currently using WD Black 1 TB for the folder/media disc and zero project.

    I'd be better off the coast and have a slightly faster response if I cme onnecter them up here (two Sandisk SSD 120 GB)? Worth the effort?

    If you use raid-0 of the motherboard for the two sandisk ssd, it should speed up both write and read for them. the raid-0 would be 240 GB. having only high speed of reading better for storage media, as this would be only written once and read back when editing. If the media fits, you need only a new samsung 850 pro/prΘvisualisation cache. If your support does not fit on the raid configuration, the raid could be used for cache/previews. If you don't want RAID, you might split functions drive between all readers to help spread read & writes. as the examples here of directive generic to the installation disc drive

    your motherboard also, said that he supports the readers of m2. If your projects, media, previews and cache all use less than 512 GB of space, you might want to look at the samsung 950 pro and see if it is compatible with your motherboard. I don't know when the 1 TB version comes out. If you don't want to spend that much or needs space, sata ssd is as samsung 850's are always good options.

  • Upgrading an Envy 15-j171nr with 8GB and 24GB SSD 16 GB cache

    I'm a 15-j171nr with 8GB and 24 GB SSD cache. Whe I have it set to purchase the Configurator said the cache of 24GO was incompatible with more than 8 GB of RAM.  'Maintenance and Service of Guide' (p/n 733845-001) said the same thing on page 5:

    «mSATA SSD»

    Support for mSATA 24 GB SSD (not available on the computer equipped models with 16834 or 12288 MB of system memory or a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD)"

    My questions are:

    -How are they incompatible?

    -How do you upgrade a 8 GB to 16 GB model during the withdrawal of the mSATA 24GO card?

    The additional DIMM module is physically incompatible with the mSATA map, they install in remote locations. I guess it could be a thermal or issue of power but neither part draws a lot of power or generates a lot of heat. This is * not * a problem with software compatibility. How will I know? Because I advanced and installed the extra 8 GB DIMMS and the laptop continues to operate correctly, but now has 16 GB or RAM.

    The question about the upgrade is because when you use the card as a cache mSATA configuring map mSATA and the mechanical drive as a RAID array. I guess when you remove the mSATA card you must rebuild the image of the operating system on the drive of 2.5 inches.

    -Craig

    Some people report if they switch to 16 gigs, they start to become quick start Intel and Intel Rapid Storage errors. If you're not, then you do not experience incompatibility. I think that HP will not sell 16 concerts with the WSSD of 24 concert because if you are using Intel Rapid Start the MSSD has contain the entire contents of the RAM and all the other files that have been stored there for hibernation. 24 concerts can be a little tight. Map of the WSSD is not accessible from the service Bay. It is hidden on the motherboard. You can actually slow down the main drive of the WSSD through the Intel Rapid Storage console. If you have installed 16 gigs and are having no problem just keep using the laptop and count you lucky. If you need assistance more let us know. I have a very similar model: the Envy 17-j029nr and played well with all the features of hard drive so I feel pretty good with her speed. • not enough options for the SSD drives?

    I intend to buy a desktop XPS 8700 special edition. I am disappointed that it doesn't give options for this model - for hard drives, only "2 TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s + 256 GB SSD"-which is obviously a good combination, but for me, I think that a smaller SSD drive would be nice. "" Otherwise, I like the rest of the system. A friend who built his own PC says it has installed an SSD of 128 G and it is sufficiently large with Win8, MS Office, Photoshop and other large programs installed.

    So it of just a comment, is not a problem, but I hope that Dell would offer more options, including a drive to 3 or 4. A Dell technician suggested going to road work stations - but when I looked there, I was a little confused on the readers - workstations all seem to have several readers, probably for Raid configurations, which is something over my head and on my needs.

    Or is it a good idea to have a lot of free space on the SSD drive?

    Hi Hellogoodby,

    Thanks for your comments. It isn't that much of a difference in cost between the 128 GB and 256 GB SSD. Dell is probably buying in bulk from the right and customer demand now, most people want 256 GB or more. You are absolutely right that 128 GB is plenty for the OS and applications. I have a 250 GB Samsung Evo and have used less than 50 GB for the operating system, office and all my other apps.

  • Intel RAID Option ROM

    I tried to get ESXi 3.5 update 4 is installed on my Dell Dimersion 8400 and have encountered a problem with my RAID controller.

    A few statistics:

    Chipset: Intel 925 X

    RAID controller: 82801FR (ICH6R)

    Hard drives: 1 TB 2xSATA

    Given that ESX is not taken in the way Windows RAID support not I changed the setting in the BIOS to explicitly enable RAID (as opposed to deduction if there is a signature).  This allowed me to enter the Intel Application Acceleration RAID ROM (v4.0) option where I could create a RAID1 array with my hard drives.

    After you have created the RAID1 array installation ESX failed (he had worked without any active RAID).  I've updated the BIOS and that seems to have fixed (no more panic: no bootable sector or similar error messages).

    However, I don't know if my RAID array does not work correctly.  ESX shows only a single default data store, but it does not find the second hard drive.  My thought was that with material creating a table that ESX would only see a 'hard drive '.  The truth in my opinion?

    Anyone has any ideas on how to test the table?  I guess trying to start individually on each disc?

    Make me more comfortable, it's info pages Intel Application Acceleration RAID on intel.com explicitly that it does not support a list of Linux/Unix O / its.

    I guess I'm looking for ideas or advice on the best configuration for ESX RAID1 with my Intel chipset.  Perhaps a RAID PCI controller?  Any advice is welcome.

    Almost all Intel RAID chipsets are really just a software raid implemented in the driver.  ESX sees these as separate drives.

    No really no way around it.

    Simple as in the title.

    Is it possible to Exchange my rom hunt for one ssd using a CD-ROM drive adapter?

    So I take the rom is also sata drive?

    If you are talking about using a HDD dock instead of the optical drive, I would like to warn against it. There was very little success stories involving this type of Exchange, usually because the controller for the optical drive is not able to work with hard drives or SSDS, IE... He expects to see a CD or DVD - ROM drive only.

    Hello

    Looks like the Condusiv software is not active on the MSATA.  Have you seen the documents in the directory Condusiv?

    I hope that we do not have to perform a clean function of diskpart on this device, but perhaps again. Clean even after another order of Condusiv (ECCmd-partition) must be carried out, then a restart.  At this time there the Condusiv ECCmd-info command should work and show some statistics cached.

  • More great option for OptiPlex SSD line

    Hi all.

    Like many, we order every year, a large amount of systems all-in-one of our computer labs open access.

    We have turning disks completely, for all SSD.

    OptiPlex line (in our case the AIO 9010/9020) only has an SSD - 128 GB option.

    Our images are large enough, however, that 128 GB simply doesn't give us enough room.

    We tested the 'hybrid' readers, and although they do not have a full good niche between conventional spinning disks and SSDS, we are interested only SSD.

    For our electronic classes that use the towers, the only way we could get the biggest SSD and we needed, was the most expensive order, Precision towers (the 256 GB SSD is available in the line of precision).

    The 256 GB SSD available in details, the same 'form factor' that the SSD 128 GB are available in the Optis (2.5 ", SATA interface, etc.)

    Since there is no precision, AIO options and we need more than 128 GB SSD, we are obliged to AIOs from other manufacturers.

    The AIOs buy us for our laboratories of free access, are the only units not Dell we buy (again, due to the limitation of SSD).

    Our tours in class, student Fund portable computers and servers, are all the Dells.

    I have this release with our representatives from Dell, but I think that they are limited in what they can do.

    Is - it there anyway that Dell can make SSD 256 GB already have for the precision range, available for the OptiPlex range?

    Thank you very much

    Matt

    Hi Matt-UH-TX,

    I would suggest that you post this in Ideastorm where Dell reads and people vote on an idea. It allows to be heard there.

  • Need advice from configuration to the flash cache multi-node RAC/ASM

    We have a database of CARS to work two nodes. We install a new fusion 640 GB flash card in each node. The is a double card, so that it shows up as two devices: / dev/fioa and/dev/fiob on each node.
    We have created two groups of private drives, one on each node. The Group of disks on node 1 is '+ FLASHCACHE' and the disk on node 2 group is "+ FLASHCACHE2".

    We have not found specific examples of how to configure the parameters of the init for flashcache on RAC/ASM. We guess that we must do the following. If anyone would be critical and confirm or suggest something different, we would appreciate it very much!

    "prod1.db_flash_cache_file ='+ FLASHCACHE/flash1"
    prod2.dg_flash_cache_file = '+ FLASHCACHE2/flash2'
    * .db_flash_cache_size = 600G

    Thanks for any advice.

    Jim

    Published by: jimbev90 on January 5, 2012 08:18

    Hi Jim,.

    prod1.db_flash_cache_file='+FLASHCACHE/flash1'
    prod2.dg_flash_cache_file='+FLASHCACHE2/flash2'
    *.db_flash_cache_size=600G

    Your configuration is correct.

    Smart Flash Cache database is not shared across RAC nodes. It is private to each RAC instance. For this reason, each RAC instance must define its own local cache of flash file path. When the flash cache is managed by ASM, a separate diskgroup is necessary for each instance flash cache.

    You can use ALTER SYSTEM for db_flash_cache_size set to zero to disable the flash cache. Alternatively, you can use ALTER SYSTEM to deliver the flash cache to its original size to reactivate it.
