Options to Hibernate and sleep Portege R600 No. after fresh XP install?

I just installed a new XP and it seems that windows is not able to Hibernate or Stand By. When I click to "Turn off computer" in the menu start, the menu offers me just close and restart. Stand is unavalable (in grey) and hibernation is not yet listed. Also, toshiba Power Manager cannot find the options of reboot or standby when the lid closes. A I forgot a pilot or then, or what should I do?

Thanks in advance!

Great! Thanks for the comments!

  • Problem of Hibernate (and sleep) Tecra S1

    Hello

My phone behaves very strange when it comes up to the hibernation of the form. At the end of the working day, with a normal procedure I put the laptop into hibernation mode. Next morning when I start it up, just seconds after the resumption of the windows are completely it goes back to the hibernation mode! Without any warning, I can only watch what is happening. After that, I press the power button, Windows Recovery proceed once more and then everything works normally. What makes me even more confusing is that in about 50% of the situations, it won't happen. He's totally unpredictable. Battery is not a problem, because every time when this happened it was almost fully charged.

Another problem, it is a standby mode. When I put your laptop in standby mode and leave it for the night, the next day he won't wake from sleep, but after hibernation. As it was out of battery (but the battery is almost 100%).

What might be a problem here?

    TIA

    Hi Zoran

I often use the hibernation mode, but sometimes I stop the computer is turned on as usual. As I know the hibernation mode should not be more than 14 or 20 days used constantly because some applications may not start correctly.

In my opinion you should stop the laptop or restart once a week. Sometimes do and I'm sure it will be better.

  • Lost PowerDVD and WinTV after fresh re - install (no recovery disc)

    Hello world

I bought my new HP Envy H8-1485ea desktop PC yesterday and try to get rid of the "bloatware" and unnecessary software, that I reformatted with my own license of Windows 8 Professional.

Now the problem is of course that I lost everything that I need to use the TV tuner and a Bluray player!

Anyone happen to know if I can download the separately packaged software? PowerDVD alone will cost me £35 and I can't imagine what would have cost WinTV!

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Hi, just thought I'd post an update after my visit to the PC world.

Fortunately, the store manager I recognized as the person who bought the PC £1000 the day before and allowed me to copy the installation of the C drive files, the display model!

I have now a functioning map TV/Tuner, Blu - Ray player and remote control!

Could not be more pleased with the help I got and understand how they were considering that it was my fault, that I was in the situation in the first place.

    Thanks for your suggestions, if

  • No Audio or USB ports with Port Replicator 3 and Portege R600

I have a problem between my Port Replicator 3 (PA3681E-2PRP) and my Portege R600-13 X (Win7 Pro 32-bit). Everything has been working well for the past few months until a week ago. My PC has developed a problem then that plugged on the Port Replicator, it will not recognize something new that is connected to the USB (two PC & Replicator ones) ports, the Replicator audio output no longer works and the PC hangs during shutdown. Everything is OK with the PC when booted without the Replicator, but as soon as it is connected to the port replicator, in this case.

I tried looking for information about this problem, but nothing helps... Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated as it is to set up a business and I need it to work properly.

    A few things to try:

Reinstall the Toshiba Value Added Package.
Use system restore to restore Windows to a previous state.
Check the connector for docking station for damage.
Back up your data and perform the recovery.

If its still does not, then I would send the laptop and the Port Replicator Port for an ASP for repair.

  • Portege R600-13Z - flickering picture on external monitor

    Hi support them!

I own an ASUS VW224 VGA monitor and a Portege R600 13Z. Is the native resolution of 1680 x 1050 and directly on VGA cable (do not know if there is a docking station). GPU driver date is 31.03.2010 version 8.15.10.2104 (newest I think).

The problem is that the screen is blinking. The darker the area displayed the strongest flicker is perceived. It's a "horizontal flicker", like the horizontal lines are pursuing each other up and down the screen. It is very annoying.

Since the laptop screen itself or the monitor with another computer ASUS show any flickers, I think that the problem is rooted in the described configuration interaction. I can set different settings on the monitor itself. Related to the problem could be 50 and 54 of Phase clock.

Windows tells me in config monitor refresh rate is 60. However, refresh rates and clock can be set to the same without change.

The meaning of phase I don't know.
Any ideas to solve the problem?

I think that it comes to the grounding of s.
Please check if the flicker would be available using the battery power.

I've been reading about such symptoms on external monitors.
In most cases the use of the power supply cable 3 cord would solve this problem.

  • Paused long and sleep don't work on Windows 7 Home Premium

A few weeks ago the Hibernate and sleep functions stopped working on my SONY VAIO laptop.  By that I mean, I can click on functions and it seems to work fine, BUT a minute later he wakes up.  I disabled hibernates and then helped him, but this does not solve the problem.  Then one week there is exactly the same thing started to happen on my Lenovo desktop all-in-one computer.

I never had this problem on any of my computer before, is more strange would happen on two computers in a few weeks apart.  It makes me think that a recent Windows Update may have caused the problem.

Yet once, put in hibernation until sleep only works for a minute, and then he wakes up again.  I am convinced that it is NOT caused by a former pilot or a device that wakes the computer since we are talking about two distinct and unique computers that do not share anything other than a printer.

Thoughts or ideas to solve this problem is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Portege R600-4201 - are there USB sleep & charage available?

There may be a setting somewhere that I missed, but when the device is OFF, no USB port is available to load another element.

    Thank you!

    Hello!

Yes, normally the Portege R600 supports USB Sleep & Charge:

This feature is available on the USB port which is marked with a lightning symbol. Additionally, make sure that it is enabled and you can check it using Toshiba USB Sleep and Charge Utility (start > all programs > Toshiba > utilities > USB Sleep and fresh).

And don t forget that the machine must be compatible with the USB specification.

Also, check the user manual! You will find lots of information on this feature.

  • Portege R600 - difference between the cooling options

I have a Portege R600 with Windows 7 installed, but I guess my request is generic for all Porteges regardless of the version of Windows.

Could someone please explain to me what really mean "options of cooling" in the power settings? I could not find the details of anywhere.

Optimized battery means that the cpu fan is activated only beyond a certain temperature? And what is the difference between cooling and maximum performance?

Is there another way to set the speed of the cpu fan directly?

It is a very important point for me, because the fan of the Portege is terrible, too noisy, insofar as I plan to return the laptop unless I find a solution. Sometimes, this looks like a Ferrari to RPM 1 billion engine!

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think the explanation is quite simple: optimized cooling battery means that the fan is activated only on a temperature higher than the maximum performance mode and that s all I think.

For example, if I put the battery optimized cooling notebook is a little hotter than the maximum performance mode, but if I can save energy. ;)

In addition it s advisable to clean the laptop from time to time using a jet of compressed air!

  • Portege R600 and Webcam in Skype functionality

    Hello!

I tried to get the camera working on the Portege R600 within Skype.

I got it in the past, but he stopped and now I just get a black screen when I load the video in the settings. I tried specifying the default camera and also the chicony usb 2.0 camera two identical results of both. I updated to the latest version, earlier and removed and he readded in Device Manager. No luck.

Any ideas? Running fully patched Vista 32 bit

    Hello

I'm not very well why this happens, but I see that you use the Skype of m.
Some people have reported some problems with the webcam and 3rd party software like MS messenger and Skype for example. Both applications use the webcam also.

I think there could be a problem with software compatibility between the software/driver preinstalled webcam and the Skype/MS Messenger

You said that too that everything has worked in the past, as well, that would be really interesting to know if the problem would be persists using the laptop with the factory settings Toshiba and without a Skype or other additional software installation.

    Good bye

  • Portege R600 and Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 (custom installation). Subsequently installed the Toshiba Setup program to load all the programs/drivers concerned. I have a problem with the screen, especially in Word 2003. That she will all suddenly, distort so that the words become faded/pointed/double, so that you can not read the display. A second open the document in Word will not be affected. Re-opening and closing the particular document clears the problem. The document is late and is not damaged.

Also found that sometimes when start up or wake up from hibernation, the machine hangs and looks like the fan is working overtime.
Nothing happen so unless I have a power to force down and restart.

Finally, the wheel on my mouse (latest Windows 7 drivers installed) will not work to resize a screen of Word and will not work in the folders pane in Outlook 2003.

    Any thoughts?
