Oracle 10g and multiple processors
I use Oracle 10 g on Windows on a 4-processor machine.I send a lot of 50,000 PLATELETS and SELECTS.
I have brought increasing performance monitor and looked at the CPU. I noticed in general, I had about 15% usage, but it was divided this way
CPU Utilization
1 1%
2 1%
3 57%
4 1%
Of course, this does not effectively.Is it possible to fix this?
When everything has failed, read the Fine Manual

Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?
Hi all
I have a few questions about the compatibility of 11g.
Client Oracle 11g is compatible with oracle 10g client that is already installed on the desktop computer?
If any changes to do so and where?
Is oracle 11g oracle 10 g/9i on the same server where are installed the 10 g/9i compatible?
Concerning
If the question you ask yourself is 'Can I have multiple versions of the Oracle installed on the same client computer' or "Can I have several versions of the database Oracle installed on the same machine", the answer is Yes. As long as you install each version in another House of Oracle, and we are talking about versions 8.1.5 and upward, you can have as many different versions of the client and the database on the same machine as you wish. Of course, you are still subject to the support of operating system compatibility (e.g. Oracle 9.2 did not had been supported on Windows 2008, so do not expect to work).
The only problem you may have would be with components that are not compatible with several House. This mainly affects third-party Windows drivers (drivers third party ODBC, etc.) who do not know how to work with multiple Oracle homes and end up using which version of the client Oracle happens to appear first in the path.

I recently upgraded from Oracle Forms/Reports 10 g and 11g. Oracle 10g reports saving as PDF is easily converted into a word document, however, Oracle 11 g converts not as 10 g. What is the difference and how to make the report of 11g saved in a PDF file be able to convert a Microsoft Word document itself.
Thank you
Steven
Hello
There is a "known issue" with the PDF file in 11g:
ALERT: Indicates problems PDF in 11.1.2.1.0 group of fixes for Non-Linux (Doc ID 1522543.1) platforms
Maybe the problem comes from this 'problem '...
"Patch Set Exception" exists for this problem.

Oracle 10g AND OCCI MSVC ++ 2008sp1?
How to use oracle 10g (SQL * more: release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production on Sun Jul 19 09:07:58 2009) AND WEST of MSVC ++ 2008sp1?
Edited by: s.holmes on July 18, 2009 20:38Hi Christian,
Fix. If you have access to My Oracle Support (formerly MetaLink) you can also consult Note: 437957.1 (certified compilers for OCCI) which also shows VS 2008 is compatible with versions 11.1.0.x.
However, you can use the vesion of 11.1.0.x with Instant Client and VS 2008 (including Express Edition) to connect to a 10 g database.
If you are interested, I have a walkthrough of instant OCCI with Client configuration base and VS 2008 Express Edition on my blog here:
http://oradim.blogspot.com/2009/07/getting-started-with-OCCI-Windows.html
In this walkthrough, I connect to an 11.1.0.7 database, but he just as easily could have a lower version.
Kind regards

Info on Earphone for oracle 10g and 11g installed on systm unique
Hello
I installed oracle 10g n 11g on my system. I have question regarding oracle listening port.
Oracle 10g, Listener.ora
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan) (PORT = 1521))
)
)
Oracle 11g, Listener.ora
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC1522))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP (PORT = 1522))(HOST = kankala.kalyan))
)
)
My question is why the names of the listener are same even if your are on different ports?
and for disturbing people, why I installed 10 n 11 is
Initially only oracle 11g has been installed on my system. Later, I learned for the first time forms and I have to connect to the database frm developer suite 10 g. so I installed oracle 10 g database.The names are the same, because this is the way which you created them.
If you want to make a change to use NETCA to delete and recreate one of them.
Just make sure that you have set ORACLE_HOME properly until you do.

Disable the Tunning &; diagnostic packs in oracle 10g and oracle 9i
Hello
According to the license agreement, our organization asked to disable the packs tuning & diag on Oracle databases.
We use versions diff of databases oracle (oracle 9i, 10g, 11g)
In oracle 11g, we can disable tuning & diag packs using the control_management_pack_access parameter to none.
How to disable the setting & diag packs in Oracle 10 g and oracle 9i?
Thank you
AWR did not exist up to 10g, so I don't think that the diagnosis of EM or Tuning Packs are a problem with 9i. As mentioned statspack is free and available always in 11g, so it is available for use. -Mark-

Oracle 10g and Informix via DG4IFMX connection
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am a newbie to Oracle and I'm trying to connect my Oracle 10 g to a server Informix v.11.
I did everything as it says in the manual (although many things is not well explained and even not included for example the informix database must have a transaction journal...) and I still have a few problems with the connection.
I use oracle database gateway to informix (dg4ifmx).
First of all when I run select * DUAL@dblink I have not a mistake at all, I just get a result X, that is, I realized that everything is well configured in tsnnames, auditor and initdg4ifmx.ora and the link to database.
But when I write a table exist as select name * to enc_grid@dblink, I get this error:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
[Oracle] [Driver ODBC Informix Wire Protocol] [Informix] The specified table (ENC_GRID) is not in the database. {42S 02, NativeErr = - 206}
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines of LINK_INFORMIX
The table exists for sure!
Then I opened the track and I noticed a strange thing. There is an error occurring: error ptr FILE: hgocont.c LINE: 2686 ID:SQLDriverConnect

BrankoWhen you look at the trace of the gateway, the gateway that is looking for a table called "ENC_GRID".
Informix tables commonly are case sensitive so please check your select statement, write the table/column names as they are defined in tables/columns Informix datbase and surround names in double quotes.For example the enc_grid table contains only letters of less than your Informix database, and then type: select * from 'enc_grid"@dblink;

How to connect to remote oracle (10g and 11g) db Unix and window
Hi all
Hopefully an easy one.
I have two Linux RH configured oracle databases.
I use spfiles not ora.init files
I want to maintain the cleanliness of my db and so restrict access remote ones with nicknames known so that if something goes wrong, I can follow who/what/how the newspaper.
I want to enable users to connect both via call remote sqlplus to Unix and Windows.
Users must be able to emit a sqlplus user/pwd@host command and be taken to a connection on the server.
Q is:
Do I need on my server of the client/Oracle/Oraclelite/or access point what?
Q2. Should what command I similar to what I mentioned above?
Q3. Should I tnsnames.ora on each host in the customer?
Any help would be good on this.Hi user633084!
the minimum requirement is that you have installed Oracle Clienttools about all your customers. After that, you need to configure a tnsnames.ora on each client with the descriptors for each DB connection. The command to connect to the DB from the client is sqlplus username/password@sid.
hope that helps
your sincerely

Hi all
I'm currently implementing VPD on our database, but I found a problem that I don't understand.
We have 4 users on the same database
-sysadmin_vpd (admin vpd packages)
-owner_usr (owner of the schema)
-org_1 and org_2 (access owner_usr tables using synonyms)
All tables have been created on the owner_usr schema has the same column (nrorg) I want to use to filter the data automatically with the user who is logged on the database (org_1 or org_2)
That's what I did:
sysadmin_vpd/password login
CONTEXT to CREATE or REPLACE nrorg_ctx USING nrorg_ctx_pkg;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE nrorg_ctx_pkg
PROCEDURE set_nrorg (number NRORG);
END;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY nrorg_ctx_pkg
PROCEDURE set_nrorg (number NRORG)
AS
BEGIN
DBMS_SESSION. SET_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg', NRORG);
END set_nrorg;
END;
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER set_nrorg_trg
AFTER LOGON ON DATABASE
BEGIN
IF SUBSTR(USER,1,4) = "ORG_" THEN
sysadmin_vpd.nrorg_ctx_pkg.set_nrorg (TO_NUMBER (substr (User, 5, 10)));
END IF;
END;
Here, I can test the trigger and the context variable:
owner_usr/password login
SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg') AS NRORG FROM DUAL;
NRORG
------------------------------------------------
org_1/password login
SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg') AS NRORG FROM DUAL;
NRORG
------------------------------------------------
1
org_2/password login
SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg') AS NRORG FROM DUAL;
NRORG
------------------------------------------------
2
Back to the sysadmin_vpd user, I created the function to return the predicate.
(Get_nrorg_pred) CREATE or REPLACE FUNCTION
schema_p IN VARCHAR2,
table_p IN VARCHAR2)
RETURN VARCHAR2
AS
nrorg_pred VARCHAR2 (400) value default NULL;
BEGIN
IF SUBSTR(USER,1,4) = "ORG_" THEN
nrorg_pred: = ' NRORG = ("nrorg_ctx", "nrorg") SYS_CONTEXT';
END IF;
RETURN nrorg_pred;
END;
owner_usr/password login
SELECT FROM DUAL PRED sysadmin_vpd.get_nrorg_pred (NULL, NULL);
PRED
--------------------------------------------------
org_1/password login
SELECT FROM DUAL PRED sysadmin_vpd.get_nrorg_pred (NULL, NULL);
PRED
--------------------------------------------------
NRORG = SYS_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg')
org_2/password login
SELECT FROM DUAL PRED sysadmin_vpd.get_nrorg_pred (NULL, NULL);
PRED
--------------------------------------------------
NRORG = SYS_CONTEXT ('nrorg_ctx', 'nrorg')
If I connect to the database using owner_usr the function returns an empty predicate. Connect using org_1 or org_2 returns the predicate to filter select it as expected.
Back to the sysadmin_vpd user, I created the policy
BEGIN
DBMS_RLS. () ADD_POLICY
object_schema = > 'OWNER_USR ',.
object_name = > "TABLE1."
POLICY_NAME = > "NRORG_POLICY"
function_schema = > 'SYSADMIN_VPD ',.
policy_function = > 'GET_NRORG_PRED ',.
statement_types = > ' select, insert, update, delete.
policy_type = > DBMS_RLS. SHARED_CONTEXT_SENSITIVE);
END;
owner_usr/password login
SELECT DISTINCT FROM TABLE1 NRORG;
NRORG
-----------------
1
2
connect org_1 and password
SELECT DISTINCT NRORG FROM owner_usr. TABLE1;
NRORG
-----------------
1
2
connect org_2 and password
SELECT DISTINCT NRORG FROM owner_usr. TABLE1;
NRORG
-----------------
1
2
As you can see, if I connect to the database using the owner of that selection is not filtered like I wanted. But if I connect using org_1 or org_2 all data are displayed... Why?
I also tried to create synonyms and creating policy for the synonym... No chance!
connect org_1 and password
CREATE A SYNONYM FOR OWNER_USR TABLE1. TABLE1;
SELECT DISTINCT FROM TABLE1 NRORG;
NRORG
-----------------
1
2
BEGIN
DBMS_RLS. () ADD_POLICY
object_schema = > 'ORG_1 ',.
object_name = > "TABLE1."
POLICY_NAME = > "NRORG_POLICY"
function_schema = > 'SYSADMIN_VPD ',.
policy_function = > 'GET_NRORG_PRED') ;
END;
SELECT DISTINCT FROM TABLE1 NRORG;
NRORG
-----------------
1
2
What I am doing wrong? Can someone help me?
Thank you!
I just understand... The problem was in the users org_1 and org_2.
My coleague created users of theses and gave them grants more than it should... I have everything, revoked granted only SELECT and RESOURCES and this is...
I don't know what was the grant that substitute policy... Anyone know?
Thanks anyway...

Oracle enterprise linux and oracle 10g?
Hey;
I am fairly new to try to download oracle and get installed on a linux machine. I made a few attempts on linux fedora core 10 and home edition of windows vista that does not go very far. Since I just passed my exams for ocp via a boot camp (yay for me!), I'm hoping to get a couple of linux boxes operational so that down the concepts by the practice.
From what I read, it seems that I can download enterprise linux, put it on a system and then download oracle 10g and install this w/little or no difficulty (at least not expected...)
Am I reading that right or did I miss something? Any info greatly apprecaited.
Doug O'LearyHello
You can download enterprise linux and 10g and go there. Pre-packaged for the components required to install the oracle Enterprise linux software, here is a link for further reference see cross-platform compatibility.

form how to do that in oracle 10g
Hi all
the shape of any idea on how to format a disk by using oracle 10g and stopping the remote pc and a home pc using oracle Forms 10g.
I am using windows XP2 operating system.
Please review...You must use client_host, not host. When you use host, you are trying to shut down the server!
And what is "remotely shutting down the pc? You want to tell someone to another pc? If it's your own pc, does not remotely, but locally.You can try this first to see if the dialog box appears:
client_host (' cmd/c shutdown-i'); -
Oracle AWR and ADDM report for a multiple instance Oracle database 11 g 2 (RAC)
Hello
How to create an Oracle AWR and ADDM report for a multiple instance (RAC) Oracle database 11 g 2?
Concerning
Hello
Oracle DB 11 g 2 AWR Global report before 11 GR 2, the awrrpt.sql generation
under $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin only generates the report awr for the local instance.
You will need to collect for each RAC instance awr report.
11 GR 2, there are two new scripts awrgrpt.sql AND awrgdrpt.sql for CARS
awrgrpt. SQL - AWR Global report (RAC) (global report)
awrgdrpt. SQL - overall Diff AWR (RAC) report.
Some other important scripts under $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
spawrrac. SQL - Server Performance RAC report
awrsqrpt. SQL - statement of the standard ANSI SQL92 report
awrddrpt. SQL - period diff on the current instance
awrrpti. SQL - workload repository Instance (RAC) report
