Oracle 11g client install on crashes windows 2008
Greetings,I'm trying to reinstall the client of Oracle 11 g on a Windows 2008 R2 Ent. Server and the installation hangs on the back windows where the last message is:
From Oracle Universal Installer...
Monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors greater than 256. 65536 real past
Preparations for the launch of Oracle Universal Installer from c:\temp\2\OraInstall2012-07-19_12-04-18PM. Please wait...
At this point it just hangs.
Is there a setting I'm missing?
I cleaned up the previous installation (directories etc., after you run the deinstall script)
The installActions log file under c:\temp\2\OraInstall < timestamp > display just the first two lines above.
The installation program creates a < single value > dd_vcredist under c:\temp .txt file that contains the following lines at the end, it seems to stop at this point always.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Oracle 9.2.0.8 on windows 2008 R2 64-bit client installation
Dear expert database;
for specific needs, we need to install a client 9.2.0.8 to have connectivity with various databases.
As I am a beginner in Oracle, can you tell me if it's good?
1st part of client install Oracle 9.2.0.1 full (in architecture 32 or 64 bits?)
2. install the patches 9.2.0.8 Group (in the same architecture as the first installation)
3. install Patch 30 with O-Patch
I have a lot of problems to find good sources for the OS/Architecture (windows 2008 R2 64-bit) version, I'm not sure that the old version of Oracle can be installed on this configuration.
Can someone help me and tell me that it is possible to do?
Thank you very much.

There are two Windows 2008 Server: SIGA (database server), SIMBA (application server).
On GIS, Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 database has been installed. It's tnsnames.ora reads as follows. Execution "TNSPING SIGA" works very well. TNSNAMES is used to resolve the name.
GIS =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = SARABI.lionsland.local.de)(PORT = 1521))
)
(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL))
)
The SIMBA, Oracle Client 11.2.0.1.0 has been installed. It's the tnsnames.ora is identical to the above. Running "PING SIGA" works very well. The name is resolved to 192.168.1.201. However, execution 'TNSPING SIGA' fails "12535 TNS Timeout". The track is given below. I don't understand where is the problem.

Oracle 11g Client and Enterprise Manager
Just need confirmation that the old Java based Enterprise Manager 10g left for always with 11g and there is no installation of 11g client management console (at least I can't find one). And after searching for the ndo son Oracle documentation, it seems that I can install database 11g on my local pc and then have a dbconsole (not the grid control). Please confirm that this dbconsole only points to the specific database that is installed on the same pc, and it cannot be used to manage remotely located 10 or 11 g databases. I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?
Thank you

Confirmed. The DB Console is linked to an ORACLE_HOME one HOST for a single INSTANCE. The HOST and the INSTANCE are used in the directory naming (of all stupidity) and the content of the configuration file under the ORACLE_HOME.
I'm still in the planning stages for the installation of grid control and want to use the more small enterprise manager - java control. But even once, there no such Oracle 11 g application now? I have to use the grid control to manage multiple databases?
Confirmed. Fortunately, the grid control is included in the license database in accordance with the manual of licenses of database, and you can place the grid on a separate machine control. As the Grid control is powered with a single agent for all products (and any other database) on the target host, the grid control puts on a much smaller footprint on a machine of database that even the old console Java.
Note that the grid control of 11g (at least) will tomorrow announce Webcast - check the RTO.

Yes, it's the customers oracle s possible 2 32 and 64 bits on the same OS.
If the Oracle Client is 32 bit, it will contain a "lib" folder But if it's a customer of Oracle 64-bit, it will 'lib' and 'lib32' records.http://www.DBA-Oracle.com/t_client_32_bit_or_64_bit.htm

Failed to install (restore) on Windows 2008
I try to install RoboHelp 7 on a new system Windows Server 2008 64 - bit (very similar to Vista) who has never had any Adobe product is installed. Still, the installation fails and cancels all changes to the system. The files are created in the default installation directory (C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 7), then they are automatically deleted when the installation program fails. I tried to install several times, rebooted the machine, disabled UAC, run the installer as administrator and tried other ideas I've seen on these forums, but nothing works. I have exactly the same problem with Adobe Captivate 3, but not with other non-Adobe programs I've tried. The exact message in the InstallShield Wizard is, "the wizard was interrupted before Adobe RoboHelp 7 could be completely installed." Your system has not changed. To complete installation at another time, please run Setup again. »
Thanks for the replies. I managed to solve the installation problem actually two things:
I went to where RoboHelp was unpack the installation files (7\RoboHelp C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Adobe RoboHelp) and set all the EXEs to run in Windows XP compatibility mode.
I opened a command prompt in this directory and run the installer of RoboHelp directly without user intervention: "msiexec /i"Adobe RoboHelp 7.msi"/ passive." This installed RoboHelp using the default options.
It is apparently a problem with InstallShield on Vista which was experienced by many software manufacturers. I found the solution from Symantec for this page: http://tinyurl.com/3g2bl4
