Oracle 8/discoverer 3.1 TNS to connect with Oracle 10g

I installed 3.1 discoverer (which uses the language SQL 3 + version). I added the entry TNS server of Oracle 10 g.

I need to connect to this server, and it gives me error of TNS.

I tried to connect with SQL and TOAD, but the same error.

Can anyone tell me the reason.

Aqeel Nawaz

The reason is probably that your client software is too old (and supported in the previous Millennium).
Only 8.1.7.4 will work with 10 gr 2

  • Oracle Discoverer 4i (Portal db - oracle 8i) connectivity with database 11g problem

    Hi all

We have oracle discoverer 4i with Portal db (oracle 8i).

Connect to external databases by using links in the portal db db and reports will use the link db to retrieve data from views in external databases.

External databases, we have been connecting is oracle 10g version and now we have improved these databases to version 11g.

Now I have a created a new database link to this 11g database and I have created a new EUL in the portal to connect to this database 11g.

But when I try to create a report using the discoverer of this new EUL after login for the discoverer we get an "Unable to connect to the database" error.

We all have the privilege of necesscary to the user and the new database link works perfectly well. (when we try to query directly using SQL as database portal using this db link the query works perfectly).

I'm not sure if it is a compatibility issue in accessing an 11g database since oracle disk 4i.

Can any advise if this is the case and if there is no work around for this?

    Kind regards

    REDA

You say that you are having problems with a link of database from 8i to 11 g (pl exact position of 4-digit versions)? If so, expect as database of links between these two versions are not supported. Is there a reason you can't pass the portal of databases of at least 10 g 2?

Please help me what I do in configuring the listener and tns.

    Michel

Is "host1.exampl.com" the real hostname of your machine "host1"?  Or you made that blur in your ad - thing quite legitimate to do this for security reasons.

Whatever, this is not really a matter of tns, unless of course 'host1.example.com' is really what you put in the tnsnames file, but your server "host1" became really something else.

Assuming that 'host1.example.com' is the correct value, debugging starts with the following:

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ ping host1.example.com

    [oracle@host2 admin] $ tracerout host1.example.com

  • Install Oracle 64-BIT ODBC connection with vCenter 5.0 question

I'm running W2K8R2 64 bit and I am trying to connect to an ORACLE DB so I can install vCenter 5.0. I had the Oracle DBA create the DB, then I went into my ODBC on my server vCenter. I tried to create a system DSN and noticed that it there was only the SQL client. No problem, I went ahead and installed the 32 bit ODBC Oracle client\driver.     I went back, but he has not yet shown, after more research, I LEARNED that I had to go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64 and appear ODBC32. EXE that I did and I was able to connect to the DBs and see my TNS name and test connections with success. I then in vCenter 5.0 installation, but when I got the option to choose between SQL Express and the DSN names, I couldn't see my DB in the fall down... What don't get me?  I'm using using SQL, but the process is OK except that I do not see the DBs when the installation menu of vCenter dropdown, even though I was able to connect successfully to them through ODBC. ??

In order to get listed in vCenter Server Setup, you must have created a 64-bit DSN, which requires a 64-bit Oracle Client. You can try to create a 64-bit DSN after you install the full client for 64 bit / instant client

You must use DG4ODBC to connect to a MySQL database. If you have already installed Oracle 11 database, dg4odbc is usually included in the Oracle_Home.

For a MySQl ODBC driver, see the web site of MySQL Web developers and search for connectors:

    Hello

It is probably useful to clarify some terms here. Business view are views of database created by competing demand Oracle Applications "generate all Business Views. You can view the application log to see what views are created.

These views of the company are then mapped into folders in the discoverer of the end-user (LUF) layer. These folders in the business areas and business districts, and records can be created either yourself using Discoverer Administrator or the company released with eBS spaces can imported the EUL. Or you can do a mixture of both your own and Oracle supplied.

Discoverer Plus and view and tools that you use to create workbooks reports/discoverer. You cannot create views, folders, or areas of activity with these tools.

You can check the metalink Note 313418.1 for more information on how to implement the discoverer with eBS.
