Oracle 9i RAC DBCA problem

Oracle 9i Rac (9.2.0.6) on Windows Server 2003 Ent. SP2 (with latest Windows patches).

FCAC consist of 2 nodes, install based on Metalink Note: 178882.1, then the facility I ran into a few bugs, but the clustercheck said ok, the tracks of services very well now, two of them (clustercheck, servers) see the storage, each other etc. Storage is an EVA6400, and I intend to use ocfs under database files.

(The reason why I'm installing 9i RAC: we have an old 9i RAC database, and I want to change the very old hardware (servers and storage too).) My plan is to install RAC, create a blank database and import the data from the old to the new.)

The problem is, when I start DBCA (dbca - datafileDestination O:\oradata > c:\dbca_result.txt) and set up a rac database, the process of creating crashes to 2%...

I know that this kind of situation, important people will say that, upgrade - impossible! I can understand - depending on the application - it can be a major problem for upgrade to a higher version. But what is the difference between 9.2.0.6, 9.2.0.7? Bug fixes, but no change in characteristics. Why should the application stop working? To be honest I don't know if 9.2.0.7 (or even better 9.2.0.8) will solve your problems, but at least you would have an environment, which has BEEN supported in the past.
I think that the community here can give you some other answers, support Oracle would have done the same thing.

    On the LSN (Unbreakable Linux Network) this can be done by using this command:

    It is unlikely to occur on a SuSE distribution since the OCFS2 modules are packed inside the rotation speed of the core.

  • problem with oracle 9i RAC privileges

    Dear all,

    I have an Oracle 9i RAC on AIX 5.3. I'm new to RAC environment.

    Today, I tried to give unlimited tablespace to a TEST user.

    But when I check dba_sys_privs nothing is there.

    =========

    SQL > alter the TEST user quota unlimited data;

    Modified user.

    Elapsed time: 00:00:00.01

    Select the DEALER, the PRIVILEGE of dba_sys_privs where dealer = "RESTORE_BIL";

    DEALER
    -THE PRIVILEGE
    CREATE TABLE RESTORE_BIL

    RESTORE_BIL CREATE SESSION
    ===================================
    He does not watch the unlimited storage space.

    There a stupid question, but this is the second time I am facing problem. When I grant a privilege object/system to a user, the command works, but when I consistent, sometimes that privileges are a few times that they are not there.

    Help, please.

    Unlimited quota! = Unlimited tablespace.

    And granting of unlimited storage in my book is pure evil, which also allows to create objects in the SYSTEM tablespace, where everyone should stay out.

    There is no problem that you never unlimited tablespace privilege and you shouldn't have done it. I would have fired you for it.

  • Oracle 10g Rac (TAF)

    Hello
    I'm known for RAC env.
    How to implement TAF in oracle 10g RAC approx.
    and how do you know... and how conf (base & preconnect) services for which use them.
    Thank you
    KK

    Published by: user603328 on June 20, 2010 12:02

    Before you configure TAF, you should know about TAF

    If the instance fails, TAF allows applications to automatically reconnect to a different instance. The new connection will be identical to the original, but uncommitted, existing at the time of breaking transactions will be cancelled.

    TAF can be configured to perform two types of failover: session and selectwith the resumption of the session, any uncommitted transaction will be cancelled, and the session will be linked to another instance, with the resumption of the selection, uncommitted transactions will be cancelled, the second will be connected to another instance and any select statement that was running at the time of the breakup will be rerun by the sesion again using the same RCS and recoveries lines will be rejected upward until the original request has failed. The Select statement will continue return the remaining rows to the client.

    a TAF connection must be configured in the configuration file net tnsnames.oraOracle. In oracle 10.1 and higher, the DBCA services management page can generate appropriate TNS for the TAF entries.

    To configure the TAF, the TNS entry should include a FAILOVER mode clause that defines the properties of the recovery as follows,

    TYPE attribute defines the behavior as a result of a failure. Value: Session, select or none

    Attributes of the METHOD--> when connections are made to the failover. Value: base or preconnect

    ATTEMPTS--> number of times where a connection should be attempted before displaying an error.

    DELAY--> the time in seconds between each connection attempt.

    Thank you

    Alex.

    Ed, I could just figure it out and I could actually find this solution everywhere else (thanks to Bogdan, a friend who recommended to check)

    The initPG_LINK.ora library was wrong and I dind´t had a simple way to find the right way:

    • I set the variable on my environment (there, I created a global file for odbc)
    export ODBCSYSINI=/etc

    • I tried to connect to the remote database to PostgreSQL with isql and it worked as well, the library was present.
    • Then, I checked on the isql libraries called< and="" this="" is="" probably="" the="" best="" way="" to="" avoid="" wasting="">
    [root@oracle ~]# which isql
    /usr/local/bin/isql
    [root@oracle ~]# ldd /usr/local/bin/isql
            linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x00007fffdff44000)
            libodbc.so.2 => /usr/local/lib/libodbc.so.2 (0x00007fa7ed96b000)
            libdl.so.2 => /lib64/libdl.so.2 (0x0000003184000000)
            libpthread.so.0 => /lib64/libpthread.so.0 (0x0000003184800000)
            libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x0000003184400000)
            /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x0000003183c00000)

    • I added this line (/ usr/local/lob/lobodbc.so.2) in the HS file.
    • Then, I added the ENVS with LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting to the location of the library
    SID_LIST_LISTENER=
      (SID_LIST=
        (SID_DESC=
          (SID_NAME=PG_LINK)
          (ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.4)
          (ENVS="LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib64:/usr/lib:/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.4/lib")
          (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
        )
      )

    A finally it worked!

    Thank you

  • Oracle 11g RAC can support 2 separate databases?

    1. can you Oracle 11 g RAC support 2 separate databases because it requires to SCAN ip cluster with a port number unique listener?
    2. Oracle 11.2 database connections will work correctly if I install a mandatory DNS server in Oracle RAC servers?
    I'm leading a team for a project of 11g and appreciate the answers.
    Thank you
    Satish.

    Oracle 11g RAC will support the 2 separate databases because it requires to SCAN ip cluster with a port number unique listener?

    YES

    Oracle 11.2 database connections will work correctly if I install a mandatory DNS server in Oracle RAC servers?

    YES

  • Oracle 10g RAC - private interconnection on VLAN not routable private

    There is in our data center existing Oracle 10g RAC configured with VLAN private interconnection managed by a different group of DBA.

    We create a new, separate Oracle 10 g RAC environment to support our request.

    When we discussed with our data center people to set up a local VIRTUAL private network for our CARS of interconnection, they suggest to use the same VLAN used by the other Oracle RAC configurations existing private. In this case the IPs of interconnection will be on the same subnet as the other Oracle RAC configurations.

    For example, if
    RAC1 with 2 nodes use 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 in the VLAN_1 for the Interconect, they want us to use the same VLAN_1 with interconnecting IP 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4 to our 2 node RAC.

    Share the same subnet on the same private VLAN for the interconnection of different configurations of RAC, supported?
    Which will cause a drop in performance? This means the IPs of a RAC interconnect configuration is to pings from other RAC configuration.

    Someone met with such purpose?

    Could not find any info on it on Metalink.

    Thank you

    Yes
    It is practically very doable... as you would have only 4 m/c in subnet ip... and it is much less than the public subnet that we should abstain from interconnection.

  • Oracle Dbca problem

    Hello
    I tried for the first time in RHEL4 Oracle, I have installed oracle and tried to create the database using DBCA, he arrived at the last stage, as the HTML for confirmation and then it showed not any option like create the database or Ok to create the database, how can I know?
    can someone please give me a solution for my problem.

    Thanks in advance,
    shusr

    You are not able to see the ok button or the ok button is pressed and nothing I s happening? If you are not able to see, it is a problem of resolution. You must reduce the dbca a little window to see the ok button or change the resolution of the screen.

  • Reinstallation of Oracle 11 g 2 RAC grid problem - ASM disk group

    People,

    Hello.

    I want to install Oracle 11 g RAC 2 with 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2 which BONES are Oracle Linux 5.6) in VMPlayer.

    I was installing Infrastructure of grid using runInstaller in the first rac1 VM from step 1 to step 9/10.

    On 9/10 in the wizard step, by chance, I touch the mouse, and the wizard disappeared.

    The grid in the 2 VMs installation directory is the same: / u01

    I have to make sure that everything is correct, delete the directory/U01 to 2 virtual machines and install again the grid in rac1.

    I realized that this is not the right way to remove/U01. The right way is to follow the tutorial
    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/install.112/e22489/rem_orcl.htm#CBHEFHAC

    But I have deleted/U01 and must correct one by one. I reinstall the grid and get the error message in step 5 of 9 as follows:

    [INS - 30516] Please specify unique disk groups.
    [INS-3050] ASM disk group empty.
    Cause - the installer has detected the name of Group of disk already exists on the system.
    Action - specify the different disk group.

    In the wizard, the old disk group name is 'DATA' and his candidate records (5 ASMDISKs) are gone. I try to use another name "DATA2", but no ASMDISKs are "candidate records. For "All discs", it is impossible to select all ASMDISKs.

    I want to use the same disk group ASM 'DATA' and do not want to create a new disk group.

    My question is:

    How to make previous ASM disks and his group of 'DATA' therefore "Candidate records" who can use again?

    Thank you.

    Hello
    If you use oracleasm, then rebuild again asm disks.

    oracleasm deletedisk

    http://sabdarsyed.blogspot.com/2007/07/installing-configuring-Oracle-ASM-on.HTML should help. (use only delete and create orders without having to reinstall again)

    Hi Vandana,

    Thanks for your time.

    I commented the line on which the IP 127.0.0.1 is shown in/etc/hosts on all nodes.

    file/etc/hosts is same nodes.when I do a ping to the public ip address, it is show the IP local hots i'e 127.0.0.1 not the real that I craved in the file/etc/hosts.

    After that I comment that line of hole and he ping is resolved.

    I understand that user equivalence and rsh/ssh must be enabled so that the environment RAC and clusterware to connect across all the cluster nodes.

    My problem is an issue raised by our internal system Auditors. Are asking that the commands rlogin and exec for AIX is disabled, because they feel that it is a security risk. Two orders prompt for a valid user name and password when they are used for the remote connection or execute a command.

    I looked at the RAC documentation search online and Metalink (I'm not an expert on Metalink, though!) as well as Google and could not find anything indicating that rlogin and exec are specifically required for CARS work properly.

    Can anyone offer advice or their point of view on whether or not these two commands should be enabled for RAC in order to function?

    I thank you in advance for any help, you can give it to me.

    Kind regards
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

    as far as my knowledge goes CARS use neither commands rlogin or exec.
    After the installation of the cluster Oracle simply communicates via. (Clusterware) TCP and UDP (RAC) and is only sending and receiving messages. It is not necessary at run time for a remote access connection.

    ALS if ssh and rsh are solemnly used for installation and connection (not for communication).
    Oracle recommends always to leave active because it makes life easier to activate ssh every time that a patch is necessary.

  • Oracle 10g RAC + ASM + Data Guard: Question on the new disk group.

    Hello

    One of our clients is to have Oracle 10 g RAC + ASM + Data Guard. Database is the disk DATA_DG1 group and FRA is on FLASH_DG1. Data Guard is a single instance on ASM.

    To add more space, we can create another disc of the Group DATA_DG2 on Prod ASM and Data Guard ASM env, replication continues without any problem. Will be archiving logs shipped to the second disk DATA_DG2 group and applied without any configuration changes?

    Rgds,

    Yes, it sounds great.

    You should be fine with the implementation of these measures and the dataguard should continue on as usual.

    Just make sure that you are dealing with a physical standby that has not the conerts file name defined.

  • Oracle 10g Rac node eviction

    Hi all
    I have Oracle 10 g R2 RAC prod db env's (Linux) on the on-board poower dell computers.
    I have node eviction (within 10 days) issue.in my traffic N/W env is huge.
    It is cause of N/W or everything?

    Also note that the interconnection must be a dedicated and private network. Crossover ethernet connection is also not supported.

    So, in this respect, how can you have any traffic on your interconnection, except CRS (and possibly storage as OCFS2 or RPS) traffic? Whence the huge amount of traffic that you are talking about comes from?

    If it's on the network audience and interfaces - No. It's extremely likely expulsion of node. Unlike interconnection where a failure or a problem can easily cause expulsion from node.

    What architecture do you use for your interconnection? (GigE, IPoIB, collage, etc.?)

  • Oracle 10g RAC, add node - no jobs for the new server

    Dear all,

    We want to add a new node (say node5) to our current RAC 10 g 2 (on Solaris 5.9 operating system). While trying to set up ssh as detailed in the http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14205/presolar.htm#BABJBAEB documentation, I found that node5 is able to ssh to all other RAC nodes, but none of the existing nodes is able to ssh without password node5. Further investigation shows that node5 cannot do a ssh to himself without a password.

    Can you please help me to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Another point was found:

    Check the permissions of directory on X11R6. They should be 700. Set them accordingly and try again.
    I had the problem without password ssh was not possible until this that/home/oracle has been set at 700.

    Also check your system log file (/ var/log/messages) to find errors SSH.
