Oracle RAC one node

Hi all, I have a question I hope someone can help me.
We must apply Oracle RAC a node, but when I install the software of oracle 11.2.0.3 database I see two options: Oracle RAC one node and Oracle RAC, so I understand that I must select a node Oracle RAC but and also I know I can convert the RAC one node to RAC my database. But my question is what that different I have to choose RAC node or CARS in the form of installation for example other executable, etc, because I want to be sure that I won't have problems in the future. Thank you

A knot of CARS is something different with a different license than CARS. Install to that you have a license.

The FRA is mounted as NFS share with the following options: "rw, bg, hard, nointr, rsize is 32768, wsize = 32768, proto = tcp, noac, worms = 3, suid.

Check if service NFSLOCK works... and if not start it.

    # service nfslock status

    * Mounting for Oracle files options when used with NAS [359515.1 ID] devices *.
Mounting for Oracle data files options

    rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=32768, wsize=32768,tcp,actimeo=0, vers=3,timeo=600

For games of backups RMAN, copies images and Data Pump dump files, the "NOAC" mount option should not be specified - it's because RMAN and Data Pump do not check this option and specifying this can adversely affect performance.

The following NFS options must be specified for 11.2.0.2 disc RMAN backup directory:

    opts="-fstype=nfs,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,hard,actime=0,intr,nodev,nosuid"

  • RAC and RAC one node licenses

I can create instances of the RAC one node so I have this option, Oracle RAC?

    Hello

If you have the license Oracle RAC, it seems that you can use even for RAC one (it will be unavailable for himself).

    According to the document. 220970.1

--> Assuming that the existing ELA/ULA includes Oracle RAC. The guide to licence stipulates that all licenses option Oracle RAC (no SE RAC) include all the features of Oracle RAC one node

At the same time, you may need to know information...

A CCR node is not available in SE.

for EA, cost of a CCR node will be very less than option CARS, but if you have the license BECAUSE you can use a node of RAC, but not in the opposite lane

  • 11g R2 and RAC one node

    Hello
What is really the advantage and the difference between the RAC and RAC one node, because finally we should move to another server if an instance/node goes down.

On advice of Burleson Consulting it is said:

What makes the Oracle RAC a special knot is that it performs a quick clone of the instance to a new node.

Which for me means switch to another server in the CARS.
    Thanks for the explanations.

-can easily be extended to multiple nodes.
-You can use "Oracle Restart' which automatically restarts your resources
-Suppose you have several rac installation among your unique databases, you can manage a single node as you do with the facilities of cars

    Hello

I am trying to install Oracle RAC 12.1.0.2 one node installation on Windows Server R2 2012, but the installer told me:

'Valid [INS-35354] the system on which you try to install Oracle RAC One doesn't not part of a cluster.'

On the same server I have is installed and running Oracle Grid Infrastructure + ASM.

I don't know what is missing the installation program, which is possible to register? The installation program does not provide which had not passed the specific audit.

    Thanks for the tips

    Hello

A CCR node does not mean that you install the grid infrastructure in a single node and install a base of a RAC data on this node.

Basically, a concept CAR is similar to active passive clustering to provide high availability. To have a node database RAC upward and launched, you will have to install clusterware on at least two server by selecting the option during the installation of the IM.

Pls follow the below post for detailed answer

INS-35354: validates the system on which you are trying to install Oracle RAC not part of a group when installing a 12 c RAC node database

  • Configuration of AppsTier (CFP, load balancing) of nodes R12 Multi with RAC 2 nodes

    Dear all,

I installed and configured applications R12 with Oracle RAC 2 nodes. (APP1, DB1 and DB2).

Now, I need to add a layer of application (APP2) to configure high availability, balancing load and PCP.

So, I cloned (adcfgclone.pl appsTier) application for APP2 layer (not shared, the two file systems are different). When I run the application it doesn't knot APP2 App1, more more simultaneous manager works only on a node (can be due to APPLCSF does not point to the mounting NFS share folder), although I've defined managers primary school-children also.

If I run the autoconfiguration of APP1 application service will only work on APP1 and even if I do for APP2, then application works with APP2. I need to have configuration CFP, balancing the load (via DNS if possible) and the high availabllity for the Application tier.

When I start the application, it will start OPMN and APPS Listener on the nodes, but simultaneous manager does not start on both, to a single node.

Is this requires having both APPS name of the node is the same?

    Thank you very much

    Ravi,

If I run the autoconfiguration of APP1 application service will only work on APP1 and even if I do for APP2, then application works with APP2.

Most likely, it's something with the profile option values, then run utility adchkcfg to get an html report that lists all files and profile options that change when you run AutoConfig on each node.

I need to have configuration CFP, balancing the load (via DNS if possible) and the high availabllity for the Application tier.

For load balancing, you must perform the steps according to the guidelines of this document.

    Note: 380489.1 - using Load-balance with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12
    https://metalink2.Oracle.com/MetaLink/PLSQL/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=not&P_ID=380489.1

For the installation of the CFP, please see:

When I start the application, it will start OPMN and APPS Listener on the nodes, but simultaneous manager does not start on both, to a single node.

Any errors in the log file of CM?

Is this requires having both APPS name of the node is the same?

    It is not necessary.

    Kind regards

  • Installing Oracle RAC: Unix, Windows ASM nodes

I have a question about the Oracle RAC configuration. I never did no prior installation RAC or ASM. Maybe a stupid question to some of you.

Is it possible to install Oracle RAC with following options?

2 node RAC with Sun Solaris
Shared storage using ASM in Windows server

Any additional information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

In very simple terms, when using ASM, database server process read the CRUDE device and process DBWR write devices ROUGH containing tablespace information. With ASM, these processes simply ask ASM 'where the disk read/write. Therefore, ASM provides simply a "table of contents". (It is much more than that, but this seems to be a good way to start the discussion.)

ASM MUST run on the same computer as the database instance that is to use it.

In your scenario, the Windows computer may be Server iSCSI providing raw devices to Solaris machines. These devices would then be managed by ASM and reading/praav1s directly by database processes.

  • RDBMS installation one node 12 c

    Hello Experts,

    Need some advice on

We currently have the Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 running on the AIX system with file system. We must improve this DB to 12 c (12.1.0.2) & migrate to the ASM.

That is why, as has been suggested, we first installed grid infrastructure (single node) 12.1.0.2 version. Now the next step that we started to install 12 Oracle RDBMS software in which we chose option "oracle RAC a knot of database installation.

in which we got an error - [INS-35354] the system on which you try to install Oracle RAC is no not part of a valid cluster

We want to know if we're going with a correct approach while choosing installation RDBMS or we should choose another option (single-instance database installation)?

If we go with a correct approach which is the above mentioned solution INS-35354 error, just FYI, we checked out grid that is has & asm are running on the server.

Please provide valuable contributions. Thank you.

    Hello

so for me, the path is:

Do not use Oracle RAC node one.

-first install the Infrastructure of the network and thereby, create the ASM instance and start it

-Second, do an installtion of single database with no possibility of RAC.

But by the way: what do you do to install Enterprise or Standard Edition?

Please choose the right pair, that depends on your license with Oracle.

  • Oracle RAC (physically separate buildings)

    Hello

I would like to know who already had this experience to prepare an Oracle RAC in separate buildings.

We have two data centers, and we intend to prepare two separate nodes physically in this building (each node in one building).

Data centers are in the same city.

    Could this be possible?

    Thank you!

This looks like an extended cluster, alias "stretched CARS." It's a reasonably normal environment, although there are some considerations. You'll need storage on each side with ASM mirror and a third independent unit (a NFS server is good) for a copy of the file with the right to vote. A 10 GHz ethernet link should be more than enough. If you need assistance configuring her, let me know

  • How to apply the PSU on Oracle RAC?

    Hello guys,.

How about the Oracle RAC database without any stop PSU? (patch only database, not clusterware).

Lets say I have 2 CCR node on different hosts with separate houses oracle/grid (no shared resources). What are the steps to avoid blackouts? I simply apply the last OPatch on grid/oracle homes, and then generate the oracle user ocm.rsp file and simply run as root: opatch auto/patch/path /-oh oracle_home - ocmrf /path/ocm.rsp and he will do everything for me on this node? then move service on node patched and do the same on another node? Oh, and there will be no interruption of service? Thank you!

    Gytis

    Hello

Yes, the concept of a rolling patch is that the DB will always be upward, albeit on a node or another (or maybe 2 of 3, etc.)

Check out this doc, spec 14.2.4 reduce planned downtime Maintenance

Essentially an instance will come down in time. You can either manually a node patch or another, or well let Oracle patch bearing (but make sure you test it in the configuration of test first, if you have one, or else we put up with the same group of patches just in case).

The idea is that the VIP relocate Node2, or if you use SCAN apps will detect node1 down.

If possible, it is good to do this with a team Apps - ask them to move the connection with Betclic / application servers to the next node in the cluster, then the first patch (rolling patch), then exchange all node1 and make the node 2.

The same steps apply for clusterware.

    See you soon,.

  • How Oracle Clusterware Oracle RAC and 3rd-party Clustering with them

I have some questions on how Oracle, Oracle RAC and 3rd party clustering CLusterware fit between them.

Q1. My understanding is that the Infrastructure Grid Oracle Clusterware is Oracle's Clustering solution that allows applications to cluster? that is, it is a general clusterware solution to compete with those already on the market. Is this correct?

Q2. So why CARS is necessary for the Oracle cluster databases? An Oracle database is not just considered one application like any other? So why can not just use you GI / Clusterware to gather what you would do for any other application? Why so you need RAC to the Clusterware Summit?

Q3. Is it is possible to combine an Oracle database using 3rd party of clustering and not use Oracle Clusterware and CARS at all that is can you say cluster, an Oracle database using say Sun Clusters, Clustering AIX or Linux native same clustering?

Q4. If the RAC is purely for Oracle Cluster databases - what is with the title "Real Application Clusters"? What's real on this subject?, what to ask?

Q5. I also read that RAC can use 3rd party of clustering. However if you decide that this is the case, then you need to install Oracle Clusterware when even (I think for interconnection must be created to allow the merger with Cache between Instances of node?).

Is this the case?  If yes why never bore you with 3rd party clusters? -Since you will have to install Oracle Clustering anyway - and I probably have to license (all I can think about is the scenario that you already have a cluster of 3rd party in place and you decide that you need to use the same material for a database cluster)?

    All wisdom greatly appreciated,

    Jim

Yes, with 10g, you had to use the CRS, and with 11g, to use the GI.  For 9i RAC, you would use Verits Cluster and Sun Cluster or anything else.

11g RAC to GI.  As above, you can use clusterware extra if needed.  I gave the example above where to a 10g RAC we used the CRS to the cluster database/listener/vip and allowing groups of volume and filesystem in HACMP cluster.  File systems were not shared, but could switch to another node failure node, who has been treated by HACMP.  The volume of the groups containing the raw devices were shared volume groups.  For 11g, I never used extra clusterware on top of CRS and have always used ASM which is part of the GI.

The application provider only certified database to run on 10g on AIX with raw devices.  What is strange about that?  It would be unusual that you probably expect to use ASM instead of raw devices, but it is what it is.

See the following Note of Oracle for more information: using Oracle Clusterware with vendor Clusterware FAQ (Doc ID 332257.1)

It is perhaps easier to explain if you can explain what problem you are trying to solve?

  • Oracle RAC 11 g fencing

Hi all, I want to know if anyone knows the process of closing on the CARS, the other question is, Oracle RAC is able to restart the nodes (physical servers)?

    Thank you very much.

    Pablo

The Oracle Clusterware is designed to perform a node eviction by removing one or more nodes in the cluster if a critical problem is detected.  A critical problem could be a node does not not by a heartbeat of network, a node does not by a heartbeat of disc, a machine hooked or severely degraded, deprivation of resources OS (IE high use of the processor, memory shortage/Swapping, queue/executed load medium high) or an ocssd.bin process hanging.

    For example,.

Oracle Clusterware is based on the files of voting accessibility. If a node in the cluster cannot access the majority of the files of voting, the node (s) to which it applies is (are)

immediately removed from the cluster (expelled / closed).

This expulsion of node is intended to maintain the overall health of the cluster by removing members wrong (in other words, in order to avoid "split brain" situations, as well as data corruption).

Note: From 11.2.0.2 RAC (or if you're on Exadata), expulsion of node may not actually reboot the machine.  It's what we call a restart without rebooting.  In this case, we reboot most of the clusterware battery to see if that solves the unhealthy node.
