  • Oracle Database Sizing CPU

    Hi all

Our production database is running on 12 CPU cores. Based on the "sar" report CPU utilization, we noticed this always above 90% idle CPU time and some time (for backup), he arrived nearly 70%. (This means that its use is of about ~ 30 to 40%). O ifyour team has decided to migrate this database to 6 core CPU in order to reduce the cost of license and server cost.

Please suggest it will be good to migrate the database to 6 CPU cores?

Can anyone please share me measures documents to capture the database, the CPU usage and also please share all documents on the sizing of the CPU/hardware of oracle database.

Our database current as below, server details

    Model of processor - Intel Xeon processor X 5650 @ 2.67 GHz (server - Dell PowerEdge M820)

Total number CPU = 24 (active multithreading)

    Total number of cores - 12, 2 physical cores CPU.i.e 2 * 6

    RAM - 64 GB

    Details of the database

    Version - 11.2.0.1 (NO CARS)

    Size - 400GO

    Users - 300 users (150 concurrent users).

Let me know if you need more information on this.

    Thank you

If you have Enterprise Edition licenses, you can test the effect on your current platform by enabling the instance caging. It is a low risk.

  • Update oracle 10201 for the last 10 to apply CPU patches or 11g, which one?

We have HP ux server with 5 cases on it. DBs are 10201.

Never applied security patches. Now I think to upgrade to 10205 to apply the latest patch of cpu.

I tried the Oracle support Web site to find out patch that is required to download, but not found.

Someone help? give me a link?

Or upgrade to 11g will be the best choice?

    Thank you

To 10.2.0.5, pl see MOS Doc 1087991.1 (10.2.0.5 Patch Set - availability and known issues)

10g out Premier Support, upgrade to GR 11, 2 is highly recommended.

  • The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

The CPU is not powerful enough for Oracle database 11g?

I installed the datatase Oracle 11 g on my host by using the default configuration of oracle yesterday. Today, I find some the alert message: "CPU usage is 86,79%, through attention (80) or critical (95) threshold.» The average value of the CPU usage is 80.85% and I have to wait for more than 10 seconds for opening a page of the EM.
My host is HP workstation xw4200. CPU is 3.4 GHz. No other applications on that host.
I want to know: what is the main reason for the shortage of CPU resources? Because the database Oracle 11g itself is exhausting CPU or because there are a few configuration issues?

    qkc wrote:
1 is it true that most of the CPU is exhausted by the EM control tool?

    It's quite possible.

It is also one of the reasons why we encourage people to drop EM Database Console and switch to EM Grid Control. The burden is then on another server.

    2. why this index has been added in advance by Oracle Corporation? It does not seem that each tool is set up perfectly in advance.

It was probably not required under ideal conditions, in which it has been designed and tested.

Why is your environment not identical to the designed conditions that use Oracle? ;-)

  • Query regarding CPU patches

    Hello

According to my understanding CPU patches are released every quarter for each version & the realease of oracle database.

    I use Oracle 10.2.0.3 on IBM - AIX 5.3 (64-bit).

I checked the link to metalink below.

Patches and updates-> Oracle Server/tools-> last Patchsets-> latest version of the Oracle/tools Patchsets-> server then selected oracle database and OS version-> Patch Type selected as all-> ranking selected under high security-> Go

But the above gives me a list of CPU patches!

So it is not mandatory that each and every six months we will have a new patch oracle CPU? Or I make a mistake in the selection above?

    Thanks in advance.

Please give some suggestions which less than the version that I can use? y at - it a free version that I can get? What I need deilver with software.

Yes, there is a free version called Oracle XE which works very well. In fact, it is intended (which Oracle referred to as) OEM applications. It is free to use, and there is assistance available forums which are also free. The free version has all the features of the business, with a couple of limit: first of all, it will only access a carrot in your CPU. Second, the maximum data size is 4 GB.

In regards the connection to it, check out this discussion.

  • Connect to the Oracle database fails when you use Microsoft ODBC or OLE DB Driver

There was a problem when you apply the KB3126587 hotfix where connections to an Oracle database using the Microsoft ODBC driver fails if run from automated processes. Running the same process manually would succeed. The update issued KB3147071 solved the problem successfully.

Yesterday, several patched have been applied and the problem came back. The patches are: KB2862152, KB2868626, KB3163244, KB3168965, KB3170455, KB3163251.

I saw yet no acknowledgement or difficulty of Microsoft. I prefer not to uninstall security patches, but it is a problem of production.

Any ideas what specific patch maybe breaking it again?

    Thank you

  • Text enrichment component fails after applying CPU patch 21131619

    Hello

I'm trying to patch up our short installation for the latest CPU patches but have encountered a problem with the server of the Integrator (clover).

I have a pane of enrichment of text that worked very well, but after the application of the patch 21131619 (we run on Weblogic 10.3.6 so just deploy the new file clover.war and bouncing Weblogic) I get this error:

2016-02-01 14:03:36, ERROR 794 43526 [hen-6-thread-1] cannot get the salience of factory object

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: has not been initialized class com.lexalytics.salience.Salience

    to java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$ Worker.run (ThreadPoolExecutor.java:615)

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:745)

If I fire the old clover.war the graph file works fine again without changing the any environment.

Anyone have text enrichment work and apply this fix? There is nothing in the readme file to suggest that I need a more recent/different version of salience (currently using 5.1.1.7349).

    Thank you
    Robin

I raised this as a SR, and it seems to be caused by an incompatibility of versions.

To get the functionality to work yet once I was advised to apply the last server Integrator 22365219 patch that includes a new version of salience.

Note this hotfix is controlled release so that you get a Support of Oracle password to download.

  • 10.2.0.5 Oracle database link (Linux - x 86) for MS SQL Server 2012 (x 64)

Please guys, I really need your help on this issue.

I tried using freetds driver but when I use db link I get this error:

ORA-28500: connection between ORACLE and a non-Oracle system has sent this message:

[Generic connectivity using ODBC] [S1000] [9013] error General nvITrans_BeginT - rc = - 1. Please see the log file for more details.

    ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines MIXERI

To cite that I can connect to the remote sql server through isql tool with no problem at all. I study a lot and I found no solution for this error, so to this end, I will try to find another alternative way.

Is there another way to manage the communication link between the system of 2 DB db?

    Thank you

    Hello

S erro coming from the ODBC side then you can try the following-

    1. change the listener.ora LD_LIBRARY_PATH for-

    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib:/db/oracle/10.2.0/lib)

    stop and start the listener.

    2. don't you get the error even if you delete the entry-

    HS_FDS_SQLLEN_INTERPRETATION = 32

    3. get a debugging bridge route-

    -Comment the entry
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = /db/oracle/10.2.0/hs/admin/MIKSERI.trc

then the tracks go to the location by default with default names-

    /DB/Oracle/10.2.0/HS/log

-set the level of the trace-

    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = DEBUG

-start a new session of SQLPLUS, run select, close the session.

-Download the trace from somewhere, it can be displayed by our care.

It can also be an idea to install and use the 11.2.0.5 last DG4ODBC gateway that is certified with RDBMS 10.2.0.5 and available at My Oracle Support you.

  • ERP requires a dedicated server to Oracle Database access?

Recently, I checked a database that had a problem due to CPU and memory constraints. When checking the database, I have seen that the server will run in dedicated server mode. I figured that it was the cause of the problem and proposed to change this shared server mode. But according to admin app that won't help and also for the ERP Oracle database must be dedicated mode. Because I'm not admin app I just wanted to ask - is it true? How to configure ERP is not to request a dedicated database service.

    Thanks in advance
