Oracle9i cold clone failed

We use VMware converter last cold clone (VMware-convertercd - 4.1.1 - 206170) a server oralce 9.2, the OS is 32-bit, windows 2003, the physical server have 2 CPU (8 cores in total) and 4 GB of RAM, we just adjust the shape of data disc size 300 to 100, ESXi server version is 4.1 update1 after work of converter completed without error We turn on the virtual machine, we try to start oralce, we got the error message:

"ORA-27102: out of memory.
OSD-00029: Message not found 29; product = RDBMS. installation = SOSD.

How can I solve the problem?

Check the boot.ini on the server. Since it is 32-bit make sure that/fastdetect 3 g is here or there.

I think the problem is that the converter (WinPE) cannot resolve the ESX host name:

So, how do I cold can clone a physical Machine without DNS?

    Any ideas?

    Big names HB

    Hello

You can try some of the following ways:

    (1) add the entrance to host your DNS server or a DNS temp and then go for setting manual ip set dns temp

    (2) use the IP address to be converted as suggested above

    (3) perform a hot migration where the host can be added to the host file where the converter is running.

  • Cold Clone W2k3 no boot.ini after conversion file

    Hello world

I tried to make a cold clone of W2K3 Server on IBM x 346 8840 with new enterprise Converter 4.0.3 and cloning ends successfully ab. But the boot of the destination VMS on ESX 3.5 U3 Cluster fails with a BSOD and an error message like "corrupt boot.ini". OK, let's go I have connected the new hard Boot Partition file to another virtual machine and looked at the necessary boot files. No file boot.ini in there. I copied a boot.ini file from another virtual machine with the same geometry of disc and the Buslogic controller, but it does not help.

Is there anyone who knows why this happens, and what can I do to prevent this? I spend a lot of x 346 and it woul'nt be funny if I have the same problem on all machines.

    Thanks for the help,

    joergimo

    joergimo,

Welcome to the VMware Community Forums.

Is there anyone who knows why this happens, and what can I do to prevent this?

I never saw a cold clone remove or damage a Boot.ini file.  The worst I've seen, it's that the boot.ini file is an unsupported ARC path.  But which results in a BSOD 0x0000007B (inaccessible boot device).  Also, if filled with 100% conversion, it means this converter Treaty the boot.ini in the phase of reconfiguration.  If we go to the root cause on the side of converter, then newspapers.  The problem with this... newspapers are stored in RAM to the physical reception and are deleted after the system is restarted.  Is it has not been stored, then they are lost forever.

The real question is: where to go from here.

Given that the virtual machine can be started, you could start on a Windows 2003 Server ISO, in this way, you can perform a /rebuild bootcfg to recreate the boot.ini file.  Essentially, it will treat the virtual machine as if it was physical and the steps are exactly the same.  XE has already posted articles, so I won't repeat that here.

    See you soon,.

  • Conversion from cold clone process in VMware Workstation

    Hello

We would like to convert a Unix physical in our branch abroad using process cold clone with VMware Converter.

In this industry, there is no ESX, so we will try to convert it to VMware Workstation.

Can transfer us files from computer virtual via ssh we and configure a virtual machine on our ESX.

The coldclone VMware is just a Windows Server bootable CD with VMware converter installed so it will convert into a virtual Workstation 3 machine. The major issues will be if she recognizes the installed physical devices (disk controller, NIC) If you are on a SUN server. If you like I want to practice so that you know what questions you have material. You can also use things like Ghost or Acronis or, possibly, Vizioncore vConverter.

  • blue screen of death with cold clone of the linux server

We have an old Dell Poweredge 2550 running Red Hat 3 Server and we try to use the CD to boot more later/more cold clone to p2v it.

It stops on the CD, and then after that it shows a loading progress bar get us a blue screen of death (bsod) with the following error

    STOP c000021a {fatal system error}

The system process Session Manager initialization done in unexpected ways with the State of 0xc000026c.

The system has been shut down

It's hard to detect the controller raid PERC or something? We have since tried to use the stand-alone converter from PC software and point it to the Linux box to see if that process works a bit better, which seems to take too long.  I just want to know what happened in the case where the stand-alone converter process decides to vomit on his shoes.

    Thank you all,

Session manager errors are rare with PE - is the CD ok? -, it starts in a virtual machine?

have you tried other CD of coldclone?

This redhat machine has dark material?

  • Cold Clone 4.03 converter - is no longer a connectivity - used to work

I have a Dell Server physical - 1950.  I used 4.03 Converter Enterprise (after adding the Perc driver) cold Clone is several times, even just two weeks ago.  It works without any problem.  Sometimes I clone this box for backup reasons because I'm not yet ready to move to VMware still.

In any case. Today using the same exact CD start at 4.03 Converter Enterprise I no longer get my DHCP address. The Converter CD says "no network connection available.  It seems that although I do not know how to test it on that physical server using the clone boot CD there is no connectivity.  I also tried to manually set the IP address, but it will not yet communicate.  At least I can not ping the address of another computer.  The converter program displays my Broadcom adapter to network with the exact model number.

If I boot Windows Server (which uses the same IP address), the server works fine.  If no outside don't switch issues etc.

NOTHING physical changed in my environment.  The only thing I did was use the Dell Open manage DVD to update server firmware. I was a little bit outdated good, but complete Dell update program fine.  I checked it and the firmware is up-to-date.  Also when I'm trying to clone, I use the boot CD get cold, then any software side server should not be a problem (well, I guess?).

    Thanks for the help.

    Strange question.

But maybe the driver on the boot CD is too old (related to the barrette microcode).

Have you tried to use an updated driver?

  • VMware converter restarts the physical server after cold clone

    Hey

This can already city, but I can't find any discussion about it. I do a few P2Vs using the bootable disk to Vmware converter 4.1.0 cold clone. We have not all KVM/IP switches, I visit the server room to check the status of the conversion. The problem I have is that once the converter is completed, it randomly restarts the physical server, I converted (does not seem to happen to any of them). Of course, I don't want the physical server switch on again as changes could be made to it. I don't see any option in the converter to tell him not to restart or even stop that would be ok?

Has anyone encountered this problem and maybe a solution?

    See you soon

This is a very dirty hack that will do what you want

Edit the coldclone.iso and delete the file... \I386\bootfix.bin.

If you delete this file from the CD will not be asked to "press any key to boot from the CD" - instead, it will always start in the CD.

So this also means you must change the boot sequence for the physical machine BIOS to boot from the CD-ROM.

Then - even if the CD Coldclone restarts for unknown reasons - it will never restart under the original system, but raise the CD.

  • Cold Clone CD - need to test networks

Support can be added for the purpose of testing to make sure that you can test something on the network, or something to test the configuration of the network? It's hard to tell which network ports are connected and if the network and if there are multiple network cards on the server which one is connected.  It would be OK to add a command prompt from ipconfig/all and do pings or any other method via the GUI tool company to do the same.

You can get a guest via Mozilla cmd - click Open and select X:\i386\cmd.exe.

Or - just use a best handmade cold-clone - this has been discussed several times.

  • Linked clone failed: the operation is not supported on the object

Hi all - I would appreciate help on a related clone operation that is a failure.

I use Quest vWorkspace to create linked clone VM in my environment.  It integrates with virtual Center and creates from a VM snapshot parent according to normal related clones.  It has just stopped working and I am trying to track down the cause.  The task fails with the error message in the console of VMware vCenter: the operation is not supported on the object.

The vCentre is 5.5 and esxi.  vWorkspace is v8.0 MR1.  The parent VM is located on an iSCSI datastore.  I tried to put the clones of destination on premises and warehouses of NFS data with the same result.  Unfortunately I can't (don't want really to) move the VM parent from the data store that I have of many VM related to this virtual machine.

The failure message is a bit generic, so I looked on through the vmkernel.log and vpxa.log and it is an excerpt from the vpxa.log whereby it shows failed task 153.  Can someone please indicate something in the newspaper that had to be examined or another newspaper to look at?

    vWorkspace attached error and below:

    Additional accessories:

    Hello guys,.

For those of you already on 5.5, I did a few tests these days. I did find a magic bullet yet as a single parameter that is sure to break but I came up with a workaround.

I found that if my ESXi server was still on the 5.1, vWorkspace could deploy clones linked via vCenter 5.5 - it's only when the ESXi is also on 5.5 that you have a problem.

If any of you have ESXi hosts still on 5.1, you can deploy there for now.

In ESXi 5.x, it is easy to have an ESXi virtual machine. You might want to consider creating some virtual boxes ESXi to deploy on while the vworkspace dev team look at why it does not work.

I know that this is not the best solution in the world, but it's better than no work around

    Thank you, Andrew.
