I use Vista Home premium 32-bit with SP2 for Vista
    Norton Internet Security 2010 v 17.8.0.5

    When I go to:
Run > msconfig > Start Up Programs

I don't see anything there about Norton or Symantec.
I see it running in the list of services, but NOT in the list of the startup programs
I have Norton Internet Security has the value 'early charge', so it shouldn't be in the list of startup programs?

I swear I saw him in programs before starting.

Must show in the start up programs?

The entries you see in the list of services are service installed to work with the Internet Services of Norton. They are not in the program.

Have you tried looking in Autoruns?

To identify what loads when you start using Autoruns (freeware from Microsoft).
     http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

With Autoruns, you can deselect an item which disables startup, or you can click with the right button on an item, then remove it. If you clear the check box that you can check back for re - activate the element. It is an approach much safer than editing the registry and better than using msconfig.

Another useful feature of the program is that you can click with the right button on an item and select search online to get information about the selected item.

  • Why Windows 8 have a long delay before the launch of startup programs

In Windows 8 there is a long enough period for the launch of the programs in the startup folder or in the register as startup items. Why is this? And how can I remove or reduce the delay? Please note that this is not a problem with too many programs trying to launch. There is that one program listed on startup with a new installation of Windows 8 and the system is running on an SSD. It's so clear and deliberate, time not only a slow system.

Reading this thread, I just want to point that Microsoft quality replies here, it's horrible, beyond and Microsoft should be embarrassed to make them like that in public. I recommend delete them all and by publishing an adequate solution.

Reminder: The OP says that he is a clean install. They moved just a program in the startup folder and they're asking why - this delay, indicating precisely is not a slow computer. The advice they get is:

    -Run the diagnostic system

    -Start in Safe Mode

Hello? This is a clean install! Of course, none of this assistance.

What actually happened is that there is, as the OP stated, before advisement in Windows 8 delay as all the start-up programs are executed.

It can be flown in the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Serialize\Startupdelayinmsec in the registry (including the set to 0, then the programs are executed immediately).

It is the response that should come from Microsoft. Everything else is a rubbish - model answers that everyone make Microsoft look green, as if they a) don't know their own product and b) don't care even clients who need assistance.

The Bing team should also be ashamed of this site as their best result. Google does not work.

  • Order of the drives on startup

    Hello

I had something weird happen to me for the first time, one of my Linux (RHEL 4) VM came with their readers in a different order. We had to stop the virtual machine, as well as others, to conduct some interviews on the SAN, but when we turned on, the last three discs came in a different order.

What was driving 7 came as disc 6

What was in car 6 came as disc 5

Wharton is drive 5 came as disc 7

This only happened to this VM, and none of the other virtual machines Linux which is weird, but unfortunaly that only production Linux VM, other machines virtual Linux development/test came very well.

Has anyone ever seen this problem?

    Thank you

    Germano

    Very strange.

The disks are vmdk or RDM?

PS: you consider using the LABEL or UUID option in/etc/fstab mount configuration to avoid this problem?

Norton is a 4 AVs programs (antivirus) which will stop Windows Defender.
The reason is that Norton has its own advocate. Run 2 defenders in the same machine allows to create conflicts.
So what you notice is normal.

As for access to startup programs, defender of the window isn't the only way.

Start > in the search box, type msconfig > Enter > Startup tab > here is the list of startup programs.

To disable = uncheck the box in front.
To activate = check the box opposite.

  • Where are the startup programs that do not appear in the location listed?

I have a program (called Wondershare) I thought I had uninstalled later. I was mopping up my start today and noticed Wondershare programs on the list of processes. I thought it was weird, so I looked at the command and followed by the location of the file to the location he listed but cannot find the folder, in what he says he is?

Location it lists is C:\Program Files (x 86)-common Files\Wondershare\Wondershare Helper Compact... but in my folder common files, it does list no this folder under the name "Wondershare", and a search reveals nothing either?

So where is this program Wondershare hid? And why it shows the path of incorrect file on my list of startup programs? And how do I remove it from the list of startup programs? (not turn it off, remove it from the list).

Everything you see in the msconfig Startup tab can be found in the registry.

Currently enabled elements (those with the box) can be found in one of two places.

There is a section for the local COMPUTER, and there is a section for the currently connected USER.

Startup items that apply to the local computer can be found here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Startup items that apply to the currently logged-in user can be found here:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

You can specify which section of the registry the required are looking at the column location in msconfig.

Startup enabled items will start with HKLM or HKCU (look at your example).

So if I wanted to remove the entry currently enabled for an HP printer owned by the current USER (HKCU) I would do this in the Registry Editor:

Since there is no cancellation or exit without saving the changes in Registry Editor, you should consider how you want to undo the changes if you make a mistake, and your system is working badly or not to initialize the next time it is restarted.

Before registry settings to do this:

Create a manual system restore point.

Consider the backup of your registry with this free and popular tool:

  • Group of startup programs in Help and Support

I have a long list of startup programs that appears in the help and support after the judgment. They are MS and program updates are working, but some of them are weird and some I do not use. It says 12520850 is a Trojan or a virus. How can I get rid of these programs?

Information in information system, software environment startup programs, startup programs (or msinfo32) can show more things that it should and can be quite intimidating.
When you see a great list you describe, the process of collecting the information went haywire somewhere along the way, but does not seem to present other problems (next to the particular quest).  Most of the people never look as well as the article, so there are probably a lot of systems that have the problem and he is not even noticed.  It certainly should work fine but.
You can fix it so it makes more sense and is less scary research with a small VB Script from the site of Ramesh.
You can record and play back the script, if you care to know what it does and how it works.  You can do everything yourself by hand, but the script is easier.
The script will make some registry changes, so if you choose to run the script, it won't hurt to back up your registry first.
This is a popular free registry backup tool:
Here is a link with more information on scripts and you can also download the Riou script to clean the list of startup programs.
    Thank you, Ramesh.
    Please report your results.
If you still think you may have a malware infection, I could do this:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • How to change the order of startup programs in Windows 7

I read that two threads on this or that give an adequate response.

The question is simple. Is it possible to change the order of the start up programs in win 7. Possible answers "YES" or «»

    If YES how are you?

If no why not?  And is there a third party software to do?

I have a startup where a program/process support before another program/process which it depends so I have the first program does not start.

    I need to change that.

So if it is not possible to change to uninstall both and then reinstall in order they need to charge to fix it?

    NWF

Possible but not easy.  You can create a scheduled task that runs when the connection that launches first app one then call a second scheduled task, which starts the second.  (scheduled Research task) I would give the exact steps but am not on a win 7 atm machine.
