  Regarding the removal of the entry in your address book for hugs and Cookies, is nothing of the sort. Thunderbird use your display name in address book preferences to fill the list.

  Of the last 100 people who came here to complain that the mail of a person was in fact someone else. Their book of addresses for this person was the cause in probably 99 of them.

• Cannot send emails from Comcast account

  All of a sudden I can't send e-mail from comcast account from my computer Dell. Is this a bug! I can send messages from the iphone, itouch and MAC very well. What the heck is this problem?   Here are the settings that work for my Comcast account in Windows Mail.  How they compare to yours?  Did you ensure that the e-mail address you specified on the general tab is valid?

  I use Safire for browser and Comcast Xfinity to the e-mails and I have a folder named saved emails. I'm trying to find this file in order to recover a decade lost emails.   Gmail is not your main e-mail account? If you have email accounts, that you no longer want Thunderbird to check, you can delete them in the account settings dialog box (it is a button at the bottom left). Either:

  • 3-bar menu button > Options > account settings
  • Press the Alt key > menu Tools > account settings

  If Gmail is configured as an IMAP account (this is indicated in the server settings section) then all records for the account should be deleted from Thunderbird. They must, however, remain on the server. If in doubt, someone could probably describe the best way to make a backup.

  I doubt that something has been hacked. In all probability, a spammer got your email address and use it as a fake from: address and a bit silly can also use it as a To: address.

  Displaying the source code of the message (using ctrl + u) can reveal something about the real origin of the message.   If you have a Microsoft account, then you have a Hotmail account. Some people have added their Pop3 accounts to Hotmail and then added the account Hotmail in the Mail application.
