Original cultures virtual copy image cropping

In LR 4, I created a virtual copy for the purpose of cropping, but when I cut back to the point, the original image is to get cropped so.  Have I misunderstood something?

Mac OS X 10.6.8

Are there opportunities that you had the images highlight and auto-sync active?

  • Is it possible to save the adjusted image virtual copy and throw away the original?

I made a virtual copy of an image which I then adjusted in LR to the way I want to keep it. Now, I wonder if there is a way to easily apply these adjustments to the original, so I can then throw the virtual copy, or do I save the virtual copy and delete the original? I have just need two images, one that is not a custodian. I don't want to delete the original if the virtual copy depends on its existence.

I want to keep the images up to that I want and I'm working to erase those images that I never use. According to what is the best way to handle the above situation will allow me to make a few essential to my catalog household.

    TIA,

You must copy the changes to the original, and then destroy the virtual copy. The other way ' round will not work.

In the grid, do a right click on the virtual tour you are interested in. In submenus 'Develop settings' and "Metadata Presets", you can choose "copy...". ». What to do in each of them, right click on the original and make the two corresponding blocks.

  • Collection of Nik and view the modified copy of the image. Virtual copy - where is it?

Once I have reduce noise in an image using Nik Colllection set 2 and save, I'm back in Lightroom. However, I do not see a copy of the image, that I worked on-I see yet only one image and it's the original image before exporting to Nik set 2.

In addition, I note that I do not see virtual copies I was doing once I had created one in the film strip. However, when I save a virtual copy, I get the message saying 'Virtual copy 2' created. If I repeat the process of creating another virtual copy, I get the message saying "Virtual copy 3" created.

    I have two questions.

    1. How can I see the edited picture in the film strip that I applied 2 set to?

    2. How can I see the virtual images in the film?

I have changed a setting somewhere... Can someone please offer advice?

    Start at the beginning:

When you call Nik programs within LR, you create a TIFF file with or without LR adjustments, then the Nik tool is created. When registering save you to this file. This file is part of your LR database.

By creating a VC, you create a VC in the current folder, which is seen from the Interior of LR, but not outside. But it's the LR database bart.

What I suspect is that you work from within a collection and especially the last imports collection. I would suggest pointing to an image with the right button of the mouse and using the "go to folder LR" (from memory!). There you should find all your files. (Nik) TIFF files should also be available to the OS (Finder or Explorer).

The other possibility is that you have applied a filter to display only certain images, and files of VC and Nik files get hidden by the filter.

  • Soft Proofing alterations occur on Original as well as Image virtual (proof)

Once softened up, divide the image horizontally and then create an image evidence when asked after the first change.

However, LR4.4 and 5, both the original and virtual (i.e., proofing image) change.

For example.  Have the original brightness value 55 l.  Soundproof image is duller.  Increase the brightness in the evidence by 10 to match original. (The numbers are just for explanation)  Now when I compare the images again, original image brightnesss rose 10 also.  This can be seen, of course, on the Panel to develop.

Now, obviously, proofing works correctly, I think.

    What's not here?

After making a change to develop in , you should get a dialog box that gives tyou three options:

    - - .

    You select ?

Then only a virtual copy is created which shows the alteration of the State so that the remains of original without alteration.

If you select the original image will be changed.

  • Lightroom stop return to 'Original' culture aspect ratio / lock the proportions.

Hi guys.  All the title really, using Lightroom 6.1

Put, if I click on culture, enter 3 x 2 or any other, adjust my image - all good.

then I click on the following image - culture returns to 'original' aka if the image is 1 x 1, which corresponds to the crop tool.

The padlock icon seems doing nothing - for example, 3 x 2 - lock lock set, click again on the next image - back to the 'original '.

Strangely, sometimes with the ratio is fixed at 3 x 2, just set the handles on the area of harvest will bring him back to original too.

What can I do to lock it to a report you want and it NEVER changes?

    Makes me crazy.

The upgrade to 6.5 will not change the behavior. By default, Lightroom is still the proportions of the image. The locking feature has nothing to do with the proportions of one image to another of locking. You lock or a specific ratio for the image, or you unlock so that you can freely crop the image you want.

  • 5 x 4 images cropped in setting page book 10 x 8

    Hi all.

I think that I just searched it and nothing was found, but please excuse me if this has been discussed before.

I am under Lightroom 5 on Mac. In the book module, I've selected landscape Standard, which is 10 x 8. My images, between a Nikon D800, are saved in the format 5 x 4, so exactly the same proportions as 10 x 8.

The problem I have is that, regardless of the page template, even if the picture fills the page, it gets cropped. It's always cropped on the sides or up and down. The pages themselves don't look square to me, they should be almost square.

This proves to be a little problematic because I am designing my first book for self-publishing, and saw the pictures cropped when they shouldn't be is niggling me. If anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful! I would really prefer to keep my book design in Lightroom, that it keeps the built-in things and I find it quite intuitive.

I just tested a virtual copy cropped to 5:4 and it works perfectly on a full page. Even on a page with a white border (2% Zoom) the whole image is perfect looking. Sorry I don't know why you are having this problem. Maybe start another book of a collection of new and see if that makes a difference.

  • How to add the virtual copy to an existing collection

    Hello

    I use LR 5.7.x in Win7 environment.

I have an existing collection within a collection set. I would like to add a virtual copy of an image to this collection. Is there a way to do this in one step?

If I select the image and press B, he puts a - not a virtual copy - copy into the target. The only way I see to do this is to first make the virtual copy, copy it to the target collection and finally remove the copy virtual from the original location.

    Best regards

    Scott

    Hi scott_o,

To add a virtual copy to a collection, you must create a virtual copy. When it is created, set the collection (to which you want to import pictures or virtual copies to) as target collection.

Once this is done, you must select the image or the virtual copy, then press B to add to the target collection.

Note: Add collection does not all copies of the image file.

In addition, if you remove the virtual copy in the catalog, it will be removed from the collection as well.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Keeping the steps of dev for virtual copy

    Hello

I made a lot of progress on some images, and I forgot to create virtual copies before they develop. I now have to have back the original version, imported and want to keep the current version developed as a virtual copy. I tried the following: copy all the parameters of development, to go back in history, to create a virtual copy and apply settings at the virtual copy. Basically, it works one I return the version original one the current version, developed as a virtual copy.

However, the virtual copy doesn't show the steps of history to get there. Is there a way to have the virtual copy shows the steps exactly as it would if I did all the developents in him in the first place?

    Thank you

  • Problem with the virtual copy exports - JPEG vs DNG

Hi all - just a quick question - I have a set of photos developed in LIghtroom that include several virtual copies of which I now want to export to in the form of final versions on my hard drive. All virtual copies are B & w versions of the masters (post-processing work also differs slightly on the top of the b & w preset).

I need a patch of JPEG and DNG files.
Export to JPEG files seems to work without a hitch and all the pictures come out like in Lightroom.
Exporting DNG however come with a question - all virtual copies come out as images themselves IE. not virtual copies, but they are more b & w as they are supposed to be, but go out like color.

Color version masters come out well. Exports of virtual copy have different look (as expected) and the file size slightly different (also planned?) suggesting this only thing missing for me is the parameter b & w.

I have tried everything to fix this problem with no use - export the virtual copies separately etc. As already said - JPEG works, but DNG does not...

Someone at - he experienced this and if so any suggestions on how to fix...?

    Thks a lot!

    V

DNG files are 'RAW' files - they cannot be changed.

You can export only B & W versions as (pixel database files) as JPG or TIFF

You can export copies of a DNG, but they are still RAW.

You can embed data in a DNG file (containing similar to XML with the NAVE sidecar files and raw CR2 files), but editing will be visible in software that can interpret the raw data (like Lightroom or ACR)

  • Create a virtual copy for Proofing?

I have changed some setting because whenever I make any change to a photo I have now the following message attached.

    1. is this a virtual copy actually do a file separated into my library?

2 Why is it now invites me with this option after each change?

    3. If I want to choose to make a virtual copy, what is the difference between choosing to make the current photo proof against the copy of the evidence create? Is the copy of the virtual copy evidence?

    Thank you.Screen Shot 2015-08-04 at 10.04.41 AM.png

Creating a virtual copy for proofing allows you to apply the profile appropriate to this proof copy paper so that you get a fair representation of how the image will print. It is not another copy of the image, but rather a different set of parameters of the metadata that link to the same image. This allows you to adjust the virtual copy as necessary to ensure that you get the impression that you want.

It is possible that you are seeing this message because you can reset your preferences recently. You will see that there is a "don't show again" checkbox you can select, and this will prevent this message to be revised in the future. You can always create a virtual copy for proofing, such that there is an option under the histogram when Proofing is enabled.

  • How can I keep my original photo once I have crops

How can I keep my original photo once I have crops?

Uncheck 'Delete cropped Pixels. This will allow you to recrop the size of the full image. But to be on the safe side, I would do like Puru Bob said and make a backup.

  • How to create a virtual copy without copying the settings?

    Hello world

Sometimes I will edit a photo and later decide I want to create a virtual copy and take a different approach. The problem I'm having is that when I do, the virtual copy inherits all the adjustments that I brought to the previous copy and I can't compare my new adjustments against the original photo, not adjusted.

I know I can remove the adjustments on the virtual copy by pressing "Reset" in the develop module, but when I then make some adjustments and do a side-by-side comparison, it compares the adjusted version that the virtual copy has been done since.

I hope this makes sense. Does anyone have a solution?

    Thank you!

Did a little more research and it looks like the clichés probably better serve my needs that VC in this case.

  • Creating a virtual machine Image

If I wanted to create a server image I could use whenever I needed to deploy a new virtual machine, which would be the best way to do it? I simply create an image and then clone it when I want to create a new virtual machine? Would I need to sysprep it after the clone?

    Thank you

    Hello.

If I wanted to create a server image I could use whenever I needed to deploy a new virtual machine, which would be the best way to do it? I simply create an image and then clone it when I want to create a new virtual machine? Would I need to sysprep it after the clone?

If you use vCenter, and then create a virtual machine image 'Golden', convert it into a template and then to deploy virtual machines of this model.  As long as you copied the right sysprep files for earlier versions of Windows 2008/Vista, you can customize (sysprep) virtual machines as part of the deployment.

    Good luck!

  • [Help] Export or copy a virtual copy of a library to another library?

    Hi all

I have to be able to extract or export a virtual copy (VC) of a library to another library. The same image that depend on the VC is represented in both libraries, but as a friend is going to be edit some images on his computer and therefor, its library, that I need to be able to import the different VC he brings to my library later or maybe merge because he needs to the VC I.

So please, can someone tell me how to do this. If we make only a few changes of a RAW we just save metadata and we ended up, but with the VC, it's different.

    Thanks in advance!

Use file > export as catalog in the current catalog and using file > import from catalog

Ask yourself if it's really a good idea to (a) works with several catalogues and (b) the same image in more than one catalog catalog. As you found, working with multiple catalogs introduced inefficiencies like trying to copy the VCs autour, while the same image in more than one catalog of cataloguing is a recipe for confusion. Maybe you should ask how to solve the underlying problem of workflow?
