Soft Proofing alterations occur on Original as well as Image virtual (proof)

Once softened up, divide the image horizontally and then create an image evidence when asked after the first change.

However, LR4.4 and 5, both the original and virtual (i.e., proofing image) change.

For example.  Have the original brightness value 55 l.  Soundproof image is duller.  Increase the brightness in the evidence by 10 to match original. (The numbers are just for explanation)  Now when I compare the images again, original image brightnesss rose 10 also.  This can be seen, of course, on the Panel to develop.

Now, obviously, proofing works correctly, I think.

What's not here?

After making a change to develop in , you should get a dialog box that gives tyou three options:

- - .

You select ?

Then only a virtual copy is created which shows the alteration of the State so that the remains of original without alteration.

If you select the original image will be changed.

  • [LR 5] Soft Proofing - Gamut Warning monitor vary with the profile of the printer?

    Hello

There is something that I do not understand when you use the function of gentle fermentation in LR.

The monitor Gamut Warning feature (top left icon of the histogram when Proofing is enabled) is supposed to show us what colors in the image can be reproduced on the screen. Right? If I understand correctly, the warning is calculated by comparing the current image (virtualized by LR in the Melissa RGB color space) to the display range (read active calibration profile).

Then why LR different show "out of gamut" areas for display when I change the profile of the printer selected when using soft proofing? It's not logical for me.

    I missed something?

    Thanks in advance.

Indeed, they are vague on this issue. My thinking on the subject comes to converse with people from Adobe here and elsewhere, as I'm sure that I'vce has discussed this issue on the forum before. As far as I know the caution monitor is supposed to be calculated after the conversion to the profile of the printer so that you get an idea if the soft resistant color is displayed accurately. This must be the correct behavior as waterproofing can really take a color either in or out of the monitor range. I'm not 100% sure on it though, but definitely, he explains how he behaves.

Also, if you calibrate your screen and write a display icc v4 profile, the situation changes once again as today the display profile can actually contain a perceptual rendering intent, making it even less accurate and the assumption of simple linear conversions one-to-one between color spaces is not valid. Some calibration software packages do however, but there are a few exceptions.

If you want to know if your image is outside the display profile, you can indeed deceive the test to allow you to select a display as the printer proofing profile profile. In principle, you can select a standard workspace such as prophotoRGB it and get results that make sense. But you certainly don't want to have a random printer profile chosen for the reasons cited above. I guess they could add some tricks to detect that you have selected the profile of the current view and not one profile of another to randomly display and then collapse the interface, but it's a case of edge I doubt Adobe would give priority to this. It works very well so simply, you realize that you have selected your profile screen like the printer proof profile.

  • Convert to profile & Soft Proofing.

    Hello

My apologies if this has been requested and replied. Some responses on proofing looked on the forums has helped, but not hit the nail on the head.

I am grateful for the ideas, instructions, pointers.

    I. According to the instructions of the printer that prints my work, I have converted my image profiles to Dot Gain 20%. I want to assure you that I see on my screen will have a) be a tight that she (woman, the print job) will see on his screen. and (b) give me an idea of how the print job and the printer (Espson stylist Pro 4800) will interpret. It is logical to me that I should change my format of test for Dot Gain 20%, no?  Have I not this wrong?

II. I also need to do a series of JPEG files which will be visible on a variety of screens, each with a different brand and calibration. These JPEG files should be as convincing a match to print as possible, with compensation, of course, carried out for the paper, ink, etc. The game should be close. Is there a standard for ever which will allow me to see what is likely to appear on a given screen. An order, I know. I was wondering if I should just inform viewers to display JPEG images with their monitors, assign a certain color profile - or if I should send them a monitor profile as well as JPEG files.

    Thank once again for ideas.

    A little guide:

You will need a valid of monitor profile (MP) and a printer profile (PP) for

Epson 4800 for a printing (ink, paper, well-defined resolution process

    and much more).

If your impression people do not have a profile, and then not to print from there.

A PP contains everything about the Dot Gain.

Let the images in sRGB (sRGB workspace)

Edit by PhS until it looks nice

In the event, choose your PP

Rendering Intent Relative Colorimetry, Black Point Compensation

Observe the changes of the image, Soft Proof on / off

Failure to comply with the warning range, using a color of alarm

If the changes are strong or / and if the Gamut Warning zones are large

(not only highlights or some leaves on the trees), then change your image.

This can be explained by simple means.

If the image looks nice and save with sRGB embedded profile

and leave it to print, using exactly the defined printer process previously.

Test is done by software, here Photoshop, for simulated hardware.

which is entirely defined by the PP.

sRGB is a de facto standard for the Web.

If your images are in a colorful way, then it could be recommended

working entirely in AdobeRGB (1998) = ARGB.

Image in aRGB, work space ARGB.

You can do this after the clarification of this issue with the impression people. Of course

the aRGB profile must be incorporated, but even in this case, there is a good chance

the people of print is not familiar with profiles and assumes sRGB as

    Profile of the source.

Putting, you would need two versions - one for printing, one for the Web.

  • Soft proofing and color profile

    Dear all,

problems shall comply with archival ink jet print places I tried. I am now looking at "soft proofing" which I think is not without her pearls. The problems I've experienced before where the images were no converted the profile is that sometimes they would print at great expense properly and sometimes they would not, again at great cost. If the image is converted to the correct profile, in this case Hahnemule, will the embedded profile that the image will print consistently and 2 different days?

Images must be in Adobe RGB (1998) or sRGB, in both cases with

embedded profiles, but only one type for each poster.

The printer must apply 'Use integrated source profile' mode and a

Destination profile which is valid for the paper and the printing process itself.

    Hahnemühle says almost nothing.

A few parameters: weight in g/m², resolution in dpi, dithering mode

(pixelation), CMYK or CMYK + LightC, + LightM, or other combinations with

several grays, or to Orange and green. Given the fact that inkjet

In addition, often use a profile of linearization, there is a good chance of

    Errors of the operator.

This should be fixed in advance. Then the appropriate profile can be used

    for ever.

IMHO, a wedge of FOGRA control is used for the printing of the evidence,

which means "simulate the appearance of offset printing with inkjet.

At least I use the corner of control in this situation. It requires a

    spectrophotometer, incidentally.

In all cases of doubt I would print a typical image with well known appearance

    in the same process.

    For example, p.4 / p.5 here:

  • Soft Proofing and adjustment brush / Spot removal problems

    Hello

Since the last update (at least I think) to 6.5 that I have a problem when soft proofing is turned on. In particular, the adjustment brush and the brush of spotting does not work smoothly. The first problem is that when you try to make smaller or larger brush (keyboard and Tablet) the brush shows the size have immediately brush outside the window or click on the image to see the size of the brush (brush of detachment and adjustment) and the cash withdrawal is very slow and if I want to spend the part I want to remove to make it better appearance it does not update immediately when moving. Also when using either the computer fans brush starts to kick in and work hard. Tried two GPUs and extinguish the same result. but as I turn soon soft proofing off the coast of the brushes as planned work and also the fans to stay out of

so if someone has problems with these two brushes you might want to look into the option to see if Proofing is enabled

I have not noticed this. However, I usually do all my withdrawal in cash without proofing turned on. Normally, the only thing I do when the soft proofing is set things like saturation, lights and shadows. Things that affect the overall appearance of printing based on the book that I use. What are the specifications of your computer? OS, RAM, etc.

  • Bluescreen when the soft proofing

I just started to have the blue screen with an X, developing mode, while the soft proofing and seeking the warnings of the range. Proofing also no longer works (image remains the same). Recently made "Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update" and recently upgraded to El Capitan, and this issue seems to be passed eventually. Since having the problem, I've just updated to the latest version of LR, nothing helps. With the help of iMac (mid-2010) with a lot of memory... everything worked fine last week. Here is the system of information displayed on the performance tab in the preferences of LR:

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry for my delay... Thank you for your response. I always have, I could not proofing to work even though he seems to have the right icc profile listed. In fact, the profiles were more where they should be in the ColorSync folder. Reinstalled them, and everything is good to go. GPU is activated and not blue X.

By mistake I replaced a photo with another file.  The thumbnail still shows the original image.  Is there anyway I can retrieve the original of this thumbnail image?

When a file overwrites (replaces) another... the original is gone.

  • Is it possible to save the adjusted image virtual copy and throw away the original?

I made a virtual copy of an image which I then adjusted in LR to the way I want to keep it. Now, I wonder if there is a way to easily apply these adjustments to the original, so I can then throw the virtual copy, or do I save the virtual copy and delete the original? I have just need two images, one that is not a custodian. I don't want to delete the original if the virtual copy depends on its existence.

I want to keep the images up to that I want and I'm working to erase those images that I never use. According to what is the best way to handle the above situation will allow me to make a few essential to my catalog household.

    TIA,

    Ken

You must copy the changes to the original, and then destroy the virtual copy. The other way ' round will not work.

In the grid, do a right click on the virtual tour you are interested in. In submenus 'Develop settings' and "Metadata Presets", you can choose "copy...". ». What to do in each of them, right click on the original and make the two corresponding blocks.

  • Can I return an image altered to its original form?

I was sent a photo that has been changed by someone else until they sent me.

Maybe you are referring to the ability to CANCEL in the Windows Photo Gallery.

Which only works for photos modified on your machine... Photo Gallery records
a copy of the unedited in a hidden folder.

    C:\Users\\Appdata\Local\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\
    Original images.

When the picture has been modified in a different system... you do not have that
    to return to the original.

  • Soft Proof Copies

I have a file of 400 pictures, I want to apply a particular print profile at all. I can select a file, go to and select the desired profile of soft evidence. Is there and I can do them all at once or I have to make them one at a time? My plan is to apply this profile and then export it to a 4 x 6, so that you understand the final result.

    Bob

You don't need to do that if you don't plan to edit actually develop settings in order to respond to changes in the images due to the test. All you need to do is simply export your files in the printing profile. In the export panel simply select your printing profile in the window of the color space. If you want to apply a test to a set of images, turn on the auto sync (at the bottom of the tab to develop on the right) before you turn on lifting on the front more and it will be on for all.

  • How to change the color of red for areas outside of the gamut in preview soft proof?

    Hello

I saw asked this question earlier and the response has been to not even bother with the test, but also to export as a JPEG file in RGB color space, and it is the event for you...  (Thanks for the great video, Digital Dog!) ...

But...  Still, I was hoping to do a little test in the module development mainly in preview... However I am doing the test on a painting of a few tomatoes and the warning of the range and the tomatoes are all just a big block of red.

I sure hope there is a way to change this color.
