Orphans of persistent discs

After the removal of a pool, there are some "orphans" discs remaining in the section persistent drives that are still as "officer."  Virtual machines have been removed by sight when the pool has been removed and the VMDK files no longer exist.

If I try to click on "detach", I see the message:

You cannot remove the primary data disk until all secondary drives have been detached from the virtual machine.

How can I remove these entries?

Was it a mistake during the removal of the pool?  You should be able to see in the log events if there was.

My guess is that there is still some data on the pool view or the composer adam.  The link below will tell you how it empty:

  • Orphans of persistent disc

I use View 4.6. I have a persistent yet appear in view administrator for a virtual machine that has been deleted. When I fly over the disc in view administrator I get a long cryptic looking for name or ID of the disk. When I go into ADAM and try to find this disc it does not seem possible to associate the name of the disk in question with what anyone in ADAM. I would remove this disc to view administrator. Can someone tell me how?

You know the name of the virtual machine, it was initially set to?  The file is usually named after the name of the virtual machine, and it is classified EAP-DataDiskDatastorePath attribute.

  • volume of the app and persistent discs

    I have a clone-related persistent + pool

now I start to use the Volume of the App and have a question

I can use the persistent disk + accessible volume writable by uia

or an accessible volume writable for the uia and profile persistent diskless

accessible volume writable for the profile and persistent disk works together?

Yes. As far as I know, manually migrate the data is the only option and I'm not aware of all the tools to automatically migrate the data into writable volumes.

  • Discover 5.0 Persona management vs persistent discs

    Hello

I'm trying to understand the difference between GPOs Persona management and use of the persistent disks.

Are they to be used separately or could be used together?

Right now, I have a specialized pool created with a logic unit number dedicated to the persistent disk for user data.

It would be wise to implement policies of Persona at this point?  Or using this more useful when a floating swimming pool?

    Thank you!

It is certainly more useful in a floating pool.  I don't see why you couldn't use them together it would take just a few tests to see if it benefits you.

  • Change persistent <>- non-persistent discs

Hello, we have a question about persistent disk. A new challenge!

It is possible to change a disk vmdk for autonomy-> feature persistent, without stopping the virtual machine and via PowerCLI?

    Thank you in advance.

I think that has been mentioned in a previous post, it is one of the differences between the client vSphere PowerCLI (much).

  • Using the persistent drive

    Hello

I would like to see the use of persistent disc VMware View users, all I can find in the admin what IU is the size of the disk.

Anyone now a way to collect this information?

    Thank you

I don't think that provides this information. You will need to check this directly from vCentrer Server.

    Thank you

  • Change the persistence of disc

Following this thread, try to change the persistence of a VM running disk using powercli (latest version... 5.8 I think).

    Change persistent <>- non-persistent discs

Doing so causes an error ' device 'scsi0:1' already exists "(error even in the two powercli and the vSphere client).

  • persistent disk capacity has not increased

    Hello

My quality of view office is almost at its maximum capacity, I wish to bring to 2 GB.

I tried to change the size of the disc continued its pool to 20480 MB but no change. Office as persistent disc view is still 2 GB. I need to change my virtual disk of individual desktop view instance (linked clone) for persistent 20 GB disk and extend it with diskpart?

Yes, the change will not take place on new desktop computers that are created.  For an existing desktop computer, you will need to update the persistent drive by modifying the virtual machine settings, increasing and then something using the to expand inside the BONE.

  • With VMware View can use persistent disks and roaming profiles together

Site already has XP roaming profiles configuration and are again VDI Win7 so new profiles (username.v2) will be created anyway. However, I want to continue to use roaming profiles, hosted on a server so that the data is replicated and backed up. (redundant solutions already in place) Initially while we configure persistent discs and the VDI will be not synchronize with the roaming profile on D:\   I confirmed that my roaming profiles work very well on a physical system running Win7, but problems with the VDI. I was wondering if I can get them in sync in the current configuration, or if I should scrap the drive persistent in a way that the data will be all stay and synchronize on roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

    Hi, welcome in the community

If you want to use your existing installation of roaming profile, then the best option is do not use "persistent" disk configuration Redirect to drive persistent static and it brings the use of extra storage.

While commissioning a desk with persistent disk pool, view and changes the path of the user in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profile profile list to the D drive.  This may conflict with your roaming profile configuration. To confirm that, in the physical machine, change string values "Default", 'Profile directory' and 'Public' in the list of profiles registry which refers to a new path.

    > If I should scrap the persistent drive in a way that the data will be all remain and synchronize with roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

Yes, it could be a convenient option for you. Deploy pools dedicated without redirection of the user's data

  • Add disk persisting for an existing pool

It seems that I didn't not create a disk for my floating office pool.  Is it possible to create on an existing one, or should I recreate the pool?

I checked it through the Administrator's guide.    You can find exercise below at page 176 of the http://www.vmware.com/pdf/view45_admin_guide.pdf.

View composer persistent discs you can not configure the persistent drives once a pool of linked clone is created without

  • How to remove fasteners of the persistent disks that do not have a desktop computer?

    Hello community,

We have a small problem in our society. We use VMware View 4.5 and really like it. Our office is based on Win7 and everything works really well. But for some Ford, we managed to create persistent discs attached... without a desktop computer?

As you can see on the capture screen, desktop computers are used with persistent records. Five of them are assigned to a user, but do not have a desktop computer. Users can work, because they have a new drive persistens, created automatically. But the 'old' are now and can not be spare, cause her are not attached! But without disassembly, we cannot delete it. Just posted discs can be deleted... it's a doom loop

So maybe someone has already had the same error? I mean... the files do not exist on our storage and users can work, there is no problem with this, but it seems that the database of the vmware view do not know, that the files have disappeared... is there a way to delete the entries in the database for this five-disc?

We have tried to export (with the tool on the server) and re-imported, but it doesn't work, cause, you are not able to remove things when importing data backups... What can do us?

    Hello
Take a look at the link:
In the other discussion, the solution was: connect with ADSI, go to OU = data disks and remove entries
  • App stack troubleshooting or absence - Office 365

I'm looking to reassure, help, advice before go me crazy. Please excuse my evacuation, because I've lost months of precious time trying to get this working so my frustration level is at its zenith. I understand the add-on app volume was an acquisition, but the lack of documentation, tools, etc. that come with it is to the bottom right embarrising to what VMware charges for this. I get the concept and have been excitied about its implementation to get rid of ThinApps, the App - V and RDS applications, but the inconsistecy of this solution which makes me have doubts. I currently work in a test environment with view 6.2, EMU 3.7 and App volume 2.9. Our linked clone pool is configured with a base image installed Windows 7 without anything except Office 365 (because it won't work like a pile of app). I used the guide to optimize Windows 7, downloaded the Horizon tool for Windows 7 and everything seems to work well. Office 365 has been installed using this guide: How to configure Office 365 Pro in an environment non-persistent VDI | SvenHuisman.com and the pool is configured without persistent discs or persona, but use the EMU. Now, on to the problem.

    Default application stack:

    -Adobe Reader

    -Java / Flash / Silverlight / Quicktime

    -The client software ERP basic

    -Chrome

    -Firefox

    -Webex productivity tools

    -Cisco Jabber

    Admin App Stack:

    -VMware vSphere Client

    -FileZilla

    -mRemoteNG / PuTTY

    -SolarWinds IP address Tracker

    -EMU management console

    -Other utilities

All batteries in the app have been installed on a clean image of nothing but VMware tools and agent of volume App. The two app chimneys have been created several times to see if the installation has been damaged, but the result is the same.

    Questions:

    • Whenever an app stack is attached (computer or user), Office 365 will stop working. It may take a week, a day, an hour, etc. He just not launch and give weird messages. Sometimes a reboot will work, a refreshment or recompose is sometimes necessary. Remove the battery of the app has not proven to make a difference if a restart does not help. The range of messages to "run the repair facility" at the same time where the .exe is missing.
    • If no app stacks are attached, Office 365 and the virtual machine works perfectly and not hang or stop working.
    • If only the default application stack is set to the user, strange behaviour performance will happen. For example, Chrome sometimes will not load a Web page, will be very slow, or when a new tab is loaded, you will get the "Oops... He's dead Jim" message and nothing will work as if you close and then restart Chrome. Other applications will be weird problems that cannot be reproduced. However, if I connect the battery to the application on the computer, these questions appear. I guess because of some of the services that are installed with Adobe and Chrome?
    • If the default application stack and stack app admin are attached, the virtual machine will randomly crash and restart. I looked through the ESX newspapers, VDM, App stack newspapers and even event viewer and there is nothing specific that appears. The machine makes a complete stop and is launched upward by the server.

I'm sure there are other issues that I don't forget everything, but is important to Office 365. I can't identify what stack app is causing the problem. For example, I thought it was the battery of the Admin, so I removed that and ran a few weeks without any problem on the default stack. My colleague had the same configuration and now its started crashing. I guess my biggest complaint is that I can't find any type of log to see what happens when this virtual machine is stopped or when the Office 365 stops working. I feel like I'm just throwing darts blind folded and because the questions are consistent, it takes 2-3 weeks just to find out that it does not work. If anyone has experienced something like this, please let me know. I would like to open a VMware support ticket, but because I can't identify the question I know that it will be a huge waste of time (given my past experience with VMware support). I'm also tired of playing the game "awaiting the next version", that we purchased in December 2014 because he had to change everything and I feel that VMware pushed this product down our throats without integrating fully into the stack of the Horizon (off soap box now). I fortunately provide logs, screenshots, examples if anyone wants to take a shot at this. Thanks for letting me escape and thanks for any help or advice on this issue. I feel better... for now

First things first. Office 365 is NOT supported with App Volumes today. It will be with 2.10 Q4 coming calendar.

There is a different license scheme used with Office 365 and there are technical considerations with how it fits into the operating system. The problems you describe we know and are working on wth 2.10. It is not a specific, but rather to Office 365 AppStack himself. Stay tuned for more information as I have, I'll share.

  • View 6 and Windows profile number

So we have a very small environment composed of 5 pools and 2 pools are dedicated with persistent discs. One of these pools as two workstations assigned (linked clone). They all have two persistent disk configuration. Problem is one of the pools as a disk on the drive (c:\) operating system and not the drive persistent (d:\) users while others are the way it is supposed to be.

Does anyone know why this might be?

Have you checked if the user profile already exists on the parent VM?

1: I think that one day two trust is required in all scenarios in which you deploy on several areas via a view environment.

2: answer depends on your needs and what you want to achieve a level user and desktop computer.    The two would work in trusted domains.

    4: Try this https://pubs.vmware.com/horizon-view-60/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/horizon-view-60-architecture-planning.pdf document

  • Recompose is the deletion of user data

    Hello

I am currently to view assessment and I created a linked cloning dedicated with persistent discs separate and disposable Pool. I did some updates to the main image and tried to recompose. I tested my office by creating a folder on the desktop, and saving a few bookmarks in Chrome. After the restructuring was completed, I noticed that the folder I created on the desktop was gone and my favorites were also were lost. I thought I had another drive persistent was suppose to prevent this?  Thank you.

It automatically adds the disk persistent except in cases where the profile already created on the gold statue.   Make sure that your user profile is not on the model and see if it will store everything on persistent disk.
