OS 64-bit on a VPN?

Wondering if anyone new of a workaround for the connection to a VPN with a 64 bit OS. According to Cisco and another VPN software/hardware websites are aware, intend to make this a reality. My only option now is to distance in another box with 32 bits.

any comment is appreciated

Use the Cisco AnyConnect client. The former client is "legacy" that is why Cisco has not updated it for 64-bit.

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/security/vpn_client/AnyConnect/anyconnect21/release/notes/anyconnect21.html

Look at the table under the heading "requirements".

• 64-bit machine access 887VA VPN

Hi guys,.

I have a VPN solution for remote access in place of a Cisco 887VA router running.

Until recently, all remote users were both OSX and WinXP users and as such as the native client VPN and VPN Cisco Client 5.x worked perfectly. Now, I have a user who is trying to connect using a Windows machine 7 64-bit which he apprers is not supported by this type of client and documentation, I can find says that there is no alternative other than the AnyConnect platform.

I ran up to a Windows 7 machine to set up an AnyConnnect client that is a failure on the connection.

After reading further the AnyConnect administration guide I see that it says this will allow only access to a device of type ASA with no mention of an IOS device.

Is this the case? If Yes, how someone connect a 64-bit computer for a remote access vpn based IOS?

I'm confused and I'm not going to be able to allow users of 64-bit on the VPN network.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thank you

Bruno

Yes, you can still use IPSec VPN Client (version 5.0.7 (440)) to connect, however, Yes, IPSec VPN Client is going EOL.

Here are the name of the file that you can download which take supported Windows 7 64-bit: vpnclient-winx64-msi - 5.0.07.0440 - k9.exe.

Notification of end of LIFE for the VPN Client are:

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/vpndevc/ps5743/ps5699/ps2308/end_of_life_c51-680819.html

You can also use the AnyConnect for remote access to the router IOS, however, you must purchase the SSL VPN license to connect using the AnyConnect client.

Hope that helps.

• Cisco Anyconnect VPN does not work in windows 7 64 bit

Hello
I found that the cisco anyconnect (version 3, any series) does not work in windows 7 (64-bit).
The vpn is connected, but there is not any internet access.

I tried to solve the problems of:

-Disabling the firewall.

-disable the anti-virus etc.

But while I tried using with 32 bit, it works very well.

Also, I found that there is not a specific version of anyconnect vpn for only 64-bit.

Do any body have the idea how to solve this problem, either it's a bug of cisco vpn itself?

Certainly, you just need to install a later version of AnyConnect. You need a Cisco, for example a SmartNet maintenance contract, to download the new versions.

• Windows 7 64 bit VPN client problems

Hello

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0240. I am able to connect to my corporate network and work ok but connection is very slow!

Connection time is distributed as follows:

Client program VPN Opening: 70 seconds.

Click on connect and wait for the user credentials dialog box: 30 seconds.

Enter the credentials, and then click ok then 'user authentication': 90 seconds.

"Negotiate security policies": 60 seconds.

User area credentials if poster again, re - enter the credentials that the dialog box is empty, and then click ok: 90 seconds.

"User authentication", then connection established: 120 seconds.

I have a colleague running 64-bit Windows 7 (ultimate edition) which uses the same version and does not have these problems.

Any ideas anyone?

See you soon,.

Gary

Gary, thanks for the update. If disabling the firewall and restart vpn service did not help. Could you please try and install the 5.0.07.0290 version?

Before do you, I would like to know if you import .pcf for the VPN Client files. If so, please try to re-create a file .pcf on the PC and try and use this file to connect. Also, I see that the existing .pcf file you are using is a file read-only. Could you change this and give permissions to write to the file, and try to connect. If th does not help the two steps will then install the 5.0.07.0290 version.

Thank you

• Connection to the VPN Client 5.0.07 returns error 443 (activity included)

I got the Cisco VPN Client to work on my windows 8.1 box, but my windows 10 box gives me some issues.

I am trying to connect to a Cisco VPN using Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0290. 10 Windows. The first Cisco VPN would not install and I discovered that I had to install Citrix DNE before installing Cisco VPN. I did it and now the Cisco VPN client installs fine.

Now, I get an error 443 with the following log information when I try to connect:

in the event logs, I see the following error message:

Things I've tried:

I took the SSL certificate to my computer that works (windows 8.1) and installed on my machine Windows 10 and ensured that it was valid. I then imported it in the Cisco client. It did not work.

I checked the registry to ensure there was incorrect data in the DisplayName value, and that works.

Any thoughts on what I might try next?

Hello Onimallar,

I had this same problem with my Windows 64-bit 10. But on my 32-bit Windows 10 VM the Client VPN Cisco worked OK. So I looked into the differences. It seems that Setup 64-bit VPN client cannot change the network settings to add the network client 'DNE light filter' required for the properties of the network adapter.

I tried the Citrix DNE update, and while that helped Cisco VPN Client install successfully on my 64-bit machine, it would not establish a connection.

Using the differences, I removed the two of the DNE Updater and Cisco VPN Client, and then installed 64-bit Dell SonicWall VPN Client, as this has been installed in my VM 32 bits (the 32-bit version). This added the workstation network DNE filter of my 64-bit machine. I reinstalled the Cisco VPN Client successfully and was able to connect to a remote site with success.

It worked for me.

You can download the SonicWall VPN Client from:

• Cisco VPN Client 5.0.0 does not connect

Hello

I am trying to establish the VPN session the firewall to 5525 X Cisco ASA crossing 9.1.1 Cisco VPN Client. Although AnyConnect is the way to go, the inherited method must always be supported for some time as part of a migration. I tried two VPN users (authenticated by ad) on two client computers running Windows 7 64 bit and Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0440. Both users are able to establish a session to a computer at the ASA, but not the other. Entering credentails evil, the login popup will appear immediately. On the combination of username/password correct name, the following VPN client log messages are generated and the session drops that is "not connected" in the status bar. The PCF file is the same on both client computers.

Any ideas why the second client of Windows 7 does not work?

Kind regards

Thanks for the additional output. It shows the xauth authentication step, which is good to see. But it does not offer much clarity on what is causing the problem.

My attention is drawn to a couple of message on the balls that are in line with the two sessions for which you posted newspapers.

32 00:36:08.178 24/06/13 Sev = Info/5 IKE/0x6300005E

Customer address a request from firewall to hub

I'm not sure that we see any answer to this, but it makes me wonder if it is somehow involved in the issue. Is it possible that there is a difference in the configuration of firewall and operating between two clients?

I am also interested in this series of posts

48 00:36:08.210 24/06/13 Sev = Info/4 IKE / 0 x 63000056

Received a request from key driver: local IP = 10.2.193.69, GW IP = 203.99.111.44, Remote IP = 0.0.0.0

I don't know why the pilot requested a key at this point, and I wonder why the remote IP is 0.0.0.0?

It is followed by a package in which the ASA provides the value of the life of SA - which seems to be on the path to a successful connection. that is followed by

55 00:36:08.350 24/06/13 Sev = Info/5 IKE/0x6300002F

Received packet of ISAKMP: peer = 203.99.111.44

56 00:36:08.350 24/06/13 Sev = Info/4 IKE / 0 x 63000014

RECEIVING< isakmp="" oak="" info="" *(hash,="" notify:no_proposal_chosen)="" from="">

during which the SAA indicates that no proposal has been selected. It seems therefore that the ASA is not happy about something.

If we do not find indications of the client that allows to identify the problem, then maybe we look at the ASA. Are all log messages generated on the SAA during this attempt to establish VPN that could show us the problem? Would it not be possible to run debugs on the SAA in a trial of this machine?

• AnyConnect & FIPS

We test using Anyconnect for our VPN needs and I have a question or a concern about FIPS. Our ASA test is a 5510 with 8.2 and using the Anyconnect client version 3.1 and tests on Windows 7 Pro (32 bit). The VPN works very well, but we noticed that when the Anyconnect client is installed FIPS is enabled in the local security policy and when manually disabled the VPN will not connect. FIPS causes some local applications to not work correctly then it is possible not to use FIPS with the Anyconnect client?

Thanks for any help.

Jeff

We can disable FIPS on the client from the following location.

On the Windows 7 computer, you must go to the following location: -.

C:\ProgramData\Cisco\Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client

and open a file named "AnyConnectLocalPolicy.xml".

You need to make change: -.

FipsMode > fake >

Please let me know if it helps.

• PIX501 Question flow

Hello

I have a PIX501, that is about 2 years 6.3 (5) running. I wonder what the flow is about it. I looked through the cisco Web site, but I noticed that the PIX501 is now 100 MB outside the Interface. Was there a change to this. I am convinced that mine has a 10 MB int. I guess that it is half-duplex.

I am upgrading to the 17 MB internet connection and wonder if the PIX can handle this.

Otherwise, and since I do not think that Cisco will never bring Pix 7.0 on these units, I look something like a 871, etc.. How to compare the capabilities of FW to PIX.

Thank you

I don't think you need to worry unless you use VPN tunnel on it

When you upgrade the PIX 501 version 6.3, the inside interface is automatically upgraded to 100 Mbps duplex full. During the upgrade process, the system displays the message "interface ethernet1 can be defined to 100full."

Summary of performance

• L2l configuration with internet access

Hi all

I put to the top and L2L vpn between my host site and a small office of two people using my asa 5510 and a bit of netgear vpn router. I wish to have to come to the headquarters for the internet users. I can access all the resources and others, but the internet does not work on the site. I made sure I got the permit for same-security-traffic intra-interface command on my asa. Maybe I'm missing a route? Can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA,

• Firefox 64 bit for Linux for VPN

I'm tryin Juniper Networks VPN up and running. Their support page: http://kb.juniper.net/InfoCenter/index?page=content & id = KB25230

They say:
To start the network connect on 64-bit Linux, you must have 64-bit browser Mozilla Firefox with Java plug-in already configured. You can use the Oracle and OpenJDK JRE. If you installed the JRE OpenJDK, IcedTea-plugin Web (Java plug-in) should be 1.2 or higher.

I'm under LinuxMint 17. Where can I download Firefox 64-bit from this?

Thank you

If you have a 64-bit Linux mint installation already and that you have installed Firefox from the default repository, you have a 64-bit version of Firefox are installed. This is supported by your User Agent string. So you should be fine.

• Re: Satellite T130 - can I run 32-bit Client VPN on Windows 64-bit?

Just got my T130 yesterday but unfortunately realized, it is a machine that is 64-bit and all my corporate apps like VPN Client 32-bit (like all our Office Tools). Is it possible to run 32-bit on this platop mode please... ?

Thank you for your support.

Hello

I agree with the user above. According to your VPN software it will maybe work on 64 bit OS because it s also able to handle 32-bit programs normally

In your case I would try to install the software and then you can give us feedback: how it works. It would be interesting, and I think for other users. :)

Good luck!

• Using Cisco VPN Client in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

Hi all!
I need to use Cisco VPN Client to connect to my server in the company, because my company uses lotus notes Server, I have to connect Cisco VPN to access e-mail. But now my windows version is Windows 7 Pro 64 bits that cannot directly install this application, I already installed XP Mode and creatde shortcut to Windows 7, I plugged the Cisco VPN to my Cisco VPN server, but I can not access the server, Pls help me and show me how to solve this problem

Open the XP VM itself, do not use the shortcut that was published in
the W7 boot menu. You need to install Outlook / your email client
Inside the virtual machine, as well as on the side of W7. You can point to the same
PST files if you have local PST files, but you just can't open them in
at the same time of W7 and XP VM.

There is no way to bridge using the shortcut of publishing app

Some people have reported success with the third party IPSec
replacements as customer universal shrew or the NCP. Your IT Department.
would like to know if these are supported

• Remote Desktop connection: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit connects to the computer of Windows XP VPN

Hi all

I am trying to establish remote desktop TO my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) on my computer (Windows XP) work via a VPN. The VPN Client connects to my network to work with no problems, but when I try to use the remote desktop connection I get an error message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

(1) remote access to the server is not enabled

(2) the remote computer is disabled

(3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are working well, so I guess that the problem is caused by another issue?
I'd appreciate any help.
Thank you
Lou
Thanks for your response Al. To answer your qus:
(1) cisco VPN Client for 64 - bit.

(2) I don't know how to ping through the VPN tunnel - I don't see this option, anywhere in the Cisco customer (I'm not a professional, just a user)
(3) Yes. Also, I can connect to the host PC via my old laptop XP (xp) of fine House, just not my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium) so the problem must be with my new laptop rather than at the end of the host PC.

After that you connect through the VPN tunnel open a command window, IE. go in Start > run , then type cmdand type ping DRC-hostname or IP-address-DRC ping.

Examples:

Ping lou - pc

ping 192.168.1.25

FWIW, I have a desktop computer home wireless Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit on my LAN that connects fine to a XP Pro SP3 32-bit Wired test machine using [DRC] remote desktop. Now XP Pro SP3 DRC test machine is configured for a static IP address and I have manually configured the network mask, gateway, DNS resolves and made sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled in the properties of the NETWORK Ethernet card on the test computer.

Just for fun, I checked the hashes of file for the file mstsc.exe on the Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit machine and a machine Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit I have and hashes were a bit different as the size of the files. The versions of the files are the same though. I assume that the difference is because we're 64-bit to 32...
