OS install on a Portege 3410 ct

Hello, my name is Andrea, I write from the Italy. I have a problem with a Portege 3410. OS winME, I have the freecom pcmcia cdrom drive and a cd burner external usb, but none of have recognized them in the bios, I don't have a floppy drive usb or pcmcia or other. the hd is partitioned twice. I need to upgrade to win2k, and I need to format the primary partition and it go from fat32 to ntfs. I have no cd of restoration. You are my last hope there is someone in the forum who can suggest me a solution to try? Could I try to remove the hd, put it in another start mobile (another model) toshiba the installation process and when the I asked the first time reboot the pc just turn it off put the hd in the portege and try to complete the installation, addressing the second partition to find the w2k files (of course I have to copy the i386 folder before)? SMEs, we know if it will work or not? Thank youfor your help.

In my opinion Tom s idea is very good. On this way you will have no problem with the external device.

  • Portege 3410 - how to update BIOS and install XP?

Hello, I have two questions on Portege 3410.

First: I can't update the BIOS (current usage, 1.50 there, I want to update to 1.60). Instruction does not work: I connect Teac USB into USB port, turn on the USB - FDD emulation to activate, portable switch with pressed F12, the message «Ready to update BIOS...» "appears, I touch in a hurry, but nothing happened. What's wrong?

The other: I can't install Windows XP on laptop (it does not start from USB disk or external USB DVD drive).
    How can I install Windows?

    Thank you.
    Mikhail

    Hello

Just a question: why do you want to update the BIOS? Is this really necessary?
I ask this question because this update is always somewhat risky and you might damage it ROM module
In any case, have you tried to load the default settings in the BIOS before you start the update and install XP?

You can install XP without CD. Therefore, you must copy the folder i386 on the HARD drive from another computer and the boot to the HARD drive files, I think you need a little search with Google to find a workaround for this. You should find enough! ;)

  • Cannot install Modem the Portege 2000

Help! I manually installed Windows XP and now I can't install my modem on Portege 2000. What is going on?

I had this same problem come when I installed Windows 98 on my protégé. During the installation of the operating system that you will get a yellow question mark in Device Manager when you install the modem before applying the audio driver "Reg-Files. For Windows 98, I had double click on Aliid98.reg in the folder for the audio driver on the CD T & D to add information about the modem driver. For Windows XP and Windows 2000, I think that you need to double click on Aliid.reg in the folder for the audio driver on the T & D CD to add the information to the modem driver. Let me know if it works!

  • Need to install order for Portege R830-10 q WXP

SOMEONE HAS THE ORDER OF INSTALLATION OF THE DRIVERS / SOFTWARE FOR WINDOWS XP FOR TOSHIBA PORTEGE R830-10 Q PLEASE?

    Hello

I agree with Akuma. It is important that you install Service Pack 3 before you begin with the installation of the driver. New drivers are pre-tested only on XP SP3 I think and it contains many important updates.

But may I ask why you want to have Windows XP? If you use Windows 7 Professional or higher, you can use the XP of Windows 7 virtualization for legacy applications. Windows XP is, in my view, the past

  • Can not install Windows on Portege M200

    Hello
I bought a Portege M200 opportunity. I discovered that the HARD drive was broken, so I bought a new one, plus a (160 GB)
I know the problems Porteges can do when triing to install the OS on them, so I used this tutorial for installation of the network:
    [http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/02/01/how-to-boot-from-the-network-pxe-boot-with-tftp-and-windows-pe/ | http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/02/01/how-to-boot-from-the-network-pxe-boot-with-tftp-and-windows-pe/]

everything worked well. then, my xp installation 'button' was grey, so I went with this tutorial:
    http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/07/30/option-to-install-Windows-is-grayed-out-when-running-network-install/

that worked well, too. The installer kopies some files and the desire to do a restart. So he brought me to Windows PE, I typed 'wpeutil reboot' as described in the second tutorial. My PC has started again and then nothing happens.
I chossed "boot from HDD" and all I can see is a black screen with a small flashing underscore white top.

IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING. I also tried another method, for example the back of things (like I got [my R100 to work | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=120473]), with the same result.

Thanks a lot for your help!

You have a smaller HARD drive you can try?

The M200 may be limited to 120 GB HDD due to the LBA48 137 GB limit. More info here: http://www.48bitlba.com/

Ultimately, you must use the original Toshiba Portege M200 recovery disk to reinstall Windows. You can order from Toshiba https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

  • Impossible to install Vista on Portege M400 - not compatible with ACPI

    Hello

    I have a toshiba portege m400.
It has windows xp professional installed SP3 (the former owner he replaced with that of the xp tablet edition - I want to upgrade to vista so I can have the capabilities of the rear shelf!)

In any case, I have a vista version - a version upgrade Home premium.
When I try to install it it comes up with the error:

+' This computer is not compliant with the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) standard. Windows must be installed on a computer that supports ACPI. Contact the manufacturer of your computer for an update of the BIOS, or install Windows on an ACPI compatible computer. " +

When I try to boot from the cd it gets up to when I type in the product key, but then he tells me I have to run this from my current operating system.

I tried to update the BIOS (it is currently 1.8 and I heard vista needs 2.0 at least). I tried to install the latest driver from the Web from Toshiba - BIOS version 3.2.8 site but it says "this computer is not supported" even if I went through the procedure of choice of type of my laptop and spec and the pilot came on his list.
Now I'm pulling my hair out.

    Can someone help me please!
Would be to get a full version of vista (not an upgrade version) work and boot from the cd because it seemed to go further like this?

    Thank you!

    Hi guys

I think I know how you will be able to update the BIOS

I read here in the forum that in very rare cases, you have the Toshiba preinstalled OS in order to update the BIOS
So in my opinion, you will be able to update the BIOS if install you the operating system from the Toshiba recovery disc.
After installation try to update the BIOS

After the BIOS has been updated you could install the new Vista

    Hello

We have a Portege Z930 with Win 7 preinstalled.
Now, we want to spend to Win 8.
There were two Win8 DVD provided.

Can I use this upgrade DVD?
How can I use DVDs without a drive?

I tried with another laptop DVD and the DVD is not bootable.

    Any tips?

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards

    Hello

    > How to use the DVD without a player?
I guess that you can use if you do not have external CD/DVD drive

Perhaps you could borrow the car to a friend

If not try to copy the contents of the disc to a key memory USB flash and then try to boot from the stick.
But to be honest, I not quite sure m TI would work.

  • CTRL key is lost after installing XP on Portege R500

I recently got rid of Vista and installed my XP SP3 on Portege R500 (deleted all partitions in Vista and created 2). However after that all the drivers and software from Toshiba are installed, I realize that both 'Ctrl' keys on the laptop don't work, and they are the only keys that do not work. I need to use the external USB keyboard to have functions of "Ctrl".

No one knows why the ' CTRL ' disappeared? Is it a hardware driver/config that disabled on laptop computer, the keys 'Ctrl '? How to solve it?

    Thanks in advance!

It's amazing. What a crazy problem? Never heard of this.

What version of BIOS is preinstalled on your laptop? Later perhaps 1.60?

  • Installing XP on Portege R100

    Hello.

I'm trying to re - install Windows XP on a Portege R100. I have a CD of tools & utilities but no system recovery disk. I have a Toshiba CR ROM that connects to the laptop through a cardbus. I thought it would be a simple matter of putting my XP install disk in and boot from that. Unfortunately, he gets of how most by installing little drivers, then just at the point where it happens with Windows startup, there's the bluescreen error message blue screen following error:

+ A problem has been detected and Windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

+ If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps (and then continues to tell you to chkdsk/f) +.

    + Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000007b (0xf897f524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) +.

I had similar errors with other laptops by which SATA controller drivers need to be integrated into the Windows Installer disk. Is this a similar situation?

If anyone has any ideas / suggestions, I would be very grateful.

    Kind regards

    Steve

I saw 0x0000007B on my laptop previous installation of XP, it's a problem of HARD disk controller, usually caused when XP cannot find the correct drivers for IDE/SATA controller.

First of all, you need to use a CD of Windows XP Service Pack 2. You can integrate SP2 into the XP CD, google search for "Integrate SP2 XP"

I'm not familiar with this model, but you may need to use a storage F6 driver. Take a look at the Toshiba website for drivers or instructions.

  • Cannot install W2K on Portege 3480CT

On eBay, I bought a Portege 3480CT use it as a good machine to create texts out of office. But now I can not install W2K on it.

    It has an external CD drive and does not install: w2k, Linux, W98 (original)... for my favorite W2K, it says: "could not find NTLDR" (w2k) and: "media entfernen - neustart: taste druecken;

There is no other boot device, no other disc in any location... the disc is my original one, the boot device is passed to 'boot from CD' - the system is used for W2K (there a sticker on the back, which gives me this information).

and now I'm at the point, I have no idea how to continue.

Is it possible to make it work again?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

If a "NTLDR is missing" message that this indicates that the disk is not bootable.
Many times this is caused when the computer tries to boot from the CD-ROM or a diskette not bootable.
In this forum, many users wanted to install the W2K on this laptop.
First of all, you need a bootable disc.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=7187&MessageID=24896

If you want to boot from the CD of Win98, you must first create a companion disk. See the page of the Toshiba driver for companion disk files.

Please also see this site. Maybe this helps:

Is there a good kindly tell me hoe to do?
    Thank you very much!

    Dear Linali

Please don t get me wrong, but until we start to chat about it please can you us why do you buy more recent model of laptop/netbook with material more recent and later designed and based on the most recent standards of software and now try to install the operating system of old age?

Initially it is not supported by Toshiba so you will never be able to find drivers and utilities and tools specific to Toshiba, and second, Microsoft is out of the game too.

Out of curiosity, but do you need WXP for your business or what?
