Oulook Express folders in Windows Backup?

I created an archive folder in Outlook Express, as well as the standard. After an accident, I need to find in my Windows backup. I guess it's somewhere under Documents and Settings, but where?

If he went back to where she was, she should be here. First, enable hidden files and folders.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

Now look at this area.

C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

You should find two identities, each leading to an OE folder. One is your message store curent, the other is your old. You can see by the content who's who.

In the new OE: file | Import | Messages. Select Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and import from a directory to store and point to the old message store.

I have a 2 or 3 General questions on iTunes.  I download all my iTunes on a PC and play really.  That is why the questions about iTunes folders in Windows Explorer.

1 how to produce duplicates in the library?  I have loads.  I saw the advice to remove them.  This helps a little but it's still a task to be piecemeal.    How to stop what is happening in the first place?

2 in addition to the duplicates.  Last night I went in Windows Explorer on the PC that I use to download and play iTunes and entered the iTunes Media/Music folder.   I walked carefully each folder album deleting duplicate here.   However, on opening iTunes itself today, duplicates all seem to be still there in the library list.   Why it did not work?  ITunes is not loading the content of this folder?  If this is not the case, why I was informed to support?

3 What does the symbol of iCloud next to some of the tunes?  If I run the cursor over them, it says 'download '.   But surely I downloaded it when I bought and added to my library?    Why should I download it again?  That this symbol that the melody in question can not play if the PC is offline?

4 one of the songs in my library list appeared today in my Windows Explorer iTunes Media/Music folder.   I can I have accidentally deleted while I was removing the duplicates it and have now downloaded it in the album in this folder.    Probably so, iTunes library does not constantly in the folder of music on a Windows PC?    He only takes over here if the backup is necessary?

If so OK but other files appear in the library that do not exist and he asks me if I want to find the file?

I guess that my confusion stems from the assumption that the iTunes Media/Music in Windows Explorer folder should indicate precisely what will appear in the library in the app.

    Vondegru,

With regard to questions 2 and 4: iTunes does not automatically "load" all the files in the folders.  You can do an analysis of initial unique optional optional when you install iTunes, which will add all are compatible files in the iTunes library.  After that, files not added unless you take action to add.

  • Outlook express 6 in windows xp slow at the reception of the mail how to fix

my outlook express 6 in windows xp is very slow in receving mail. It seems to take up to an hour to receive messages, that I even go to the icon that says send/receive, and then click on that and it shows a little fill a box, then when it is filled with arrow says disconnect and I don't know where my mail went. How can I fix it

    Do a household.

1: do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

2: after you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

3: disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

  • How can I move the folders from Windows XP that contains "Live Mail" e-mail files to a different location than C:\Document and Setings\...?

I just migrated my PC Windows XP "Outlook Express" to "Live Mail" and the migration went really well - the progress of conversion migrated without any human intervention my thousands and thousands of emails, my many Email of OE, my address book files.

I have however a problem and are not top-of-now a solution for this.

With Outlook Express, files of Windows XP with my emails were on another Partition of Disk Partition c.  It is important for me, for all the 'application data' (for example, all emails) stored in another partition of the disc the C partition. Because if trouble with newly installed software (for example a beta Version of the software), I can use a backup of my C Partition and restore it without losing the data of the application (for example without losing everything new emails).

Question 1: With "Live Mail", can I keep my emails to another folder of Windows XP as the standard C:\Document and Settings\... file? If Yes: How can I do this?

Question 2: Is this whole "C:\Document and Settings\nom of utilisateur\Local settings\application data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail" folder that I can move to another location?

Where can I get information on these topics?

    Thank you for an answer.

My apologies. I was finally able to find a description on how to move the folder containg XP on the Web e-mail "Live Mail".

In the event a reader is interested in the solution, I included the link to the Web page containing the answer:

. DBX Outlook Express folders to store files are and they keep all your e-mail messages.  When you import into Windows Mail, these messages are extracted from the. DBX files and placed in Windows as discreet Mail folders. EML files. Was this information that you took?

  • Windows backup in windows vista home base provides space on disk D:\ limited.

before my question make a windows to the top, I have little space on the D drive.
So I did a backup on my windows Home Basic computer. It took 10 DVDs to catch up the back.
This must have backed up all the files on my computer. When I do a back up again tell about a month's time on DVD
will be my file again, or just something new as new files and updates the window?

    Hello

When you back up your files using Windows backup, you can let Windows choose what is backed up or you can select folders and drives that you want to back up. Depending on what you select, your backup will contain the elements described in the following sections.

    1. Let Windows choose

If you let Windows choose what is backed up, the following items are included in your backup:

    ·          Data files that are saved in libraries, on the desktop and by default to the Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer.

    ·          Only local files in libraries are included in the backup. If you have files in a library that are saved on a drive located on a different computer on a network, on the Internet, on the same drive that you are saving the backup on, or on a drive that is not formatted using the NTFS file system, they are not included in the backup.

    ·          The default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, desktop, downloads, Favorites, links, saved parties and searches.

    2 Let me choose

You can choose to back up individual folders, libraries, or readers.

    Notes

    ·         All files in known system (folders that contain files that Windows needs to run) folders, and files known program (files that define themselves as part of a program in the registry when the program is installed) be not saved even if they are in a selected folder.

    ·         If a folder or drive is not selected, the contents of this folder or drive is not saved.

Windows backup won't back up the following:

    ·         Program files (files that define themselves as part of a program in the registry when the program is installed).

    ·         Files stored on hard disks that are formatted using the FAT file system.

    ·         Files that are in the trash.

    ·         Temporary files on disks smaller than 1 GB.

  • Why Windows backup uses as much space?

Finally Microsoft released a version of windows that has a simple backup utility. Yes I know the old version of windows has the old app ntbackup, but I'm really, really concerned as to why this version of backup eat by so much space of hard drive on a weekly basis!

I have Windows backup set up to monitor about 90 GB of data (from about 1.1 to) I'm concerned really, but for some reason, he's chewing in about 8 weeks through all the space on my (used as backup PS3 80 GB) 500 GB external hard drive. If anything, maybe 500 MB of files have changed (in watched folders) during this time!
When I view the backups there, I see this:
    Duration/size of backup:
    11/11/2009-06/12/2009: 93.91 GB
    06/12/2009-10/01/2010: 293.21 GB
Thus, between 12/18 and 1/5, this computer was used only from a distance, no new files were created during this period! And I can assure you that I generate more than 500 MB of files during the remaining period of backup! 293GB has been used by backup (automatic weekly backup on Sunday)...
What Windows backup does exactly? Mute-compress all files without checking to see if they have changed? Binary diffs (you know, style Windows Update)? What?
How can I see what has been saved without having to browse each file individual zip in the backup folder?

Hmm.  If it is it seems to backup things that are supposed to not be in the backup, one thing I would check is to make sure that backup is not configured to backup a 'library'... or to check that the libraries are not configured for total content of places you don't want to not be saved.

If it was useful, you can vote by clicking on the green triangle. If it solves the problem, click on propose as answer. Thank you!

  • Windows backup default - Eventvwr shows error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller

    Hello

I'm at my wits end. I got the error 0 x 81000037 when you run backups windows recently. I am backing up to an external USB drive.

I went through the entire analysis point fix, I run scans antivirus complete and deleted all quarantines and I have now deleted all audio-visual products. I tried to back up selected folders, clean boots and I'm still not able to run a backup. However, I'm now not only this error code, but others.

Looking at the event viewer, it seems that each backup error is preceded by 11 on atapi event: «the pilot detected an error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0 controller»

I don't know what it is, but I wonder if this is what is at the origin of the problems, and if so, is this a problem with the external USB HARD drive or internal one.

Can anyone help? I'm desperate to save my files.

    Hello

You might face this question when the competent services for backup are not running, you can also face this question when the chipset drivers are corrupt. Make sure you don't have any other external device connected to your computer outside of the mouse and keyboard. I suggest you to make sure that the following services are running and set to automatic.

    Shadow copy volume

    • Windows backup service
    • Engine block of backup Service level
    • Windows event log
    • Task Scheduler
    • Click Start, click in the start, Search , type services.mscand then press enter and then check the benefits described above, one by one.

  • migration of Outlook Express email in windows mail (windows 7)

Recently bought a new laptop with windows 7, now facing a big problem.

I works on Outlook Express in Windows XP in my computer earlier and have loads of data in her e-mail. After buying the new notebook with windows 7 without knowing the fact that Windows 7 does not support Outlook Express, I'm now completely stuck, helpless and I have no way instead of continuing my use of my old notebook with Windows XP to access my emails in Outlook Express as I take references for old mails unlike the response.

I have done the back up of my Outlook Express and copied in Windows mail in Windows 7 laptop, but it didn't work...

Kindly help me in migrating Outlook Express emails to Windows 7 with the steps that is the big question of mine.

I would be grateful if someone revert soon.

You try to use Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail? If the latter...

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

  • Windows Backup & restore leaves gaps in the backup period date ranges

I noticed that backup & restore leaves gaps in the date ranges displayed on the screen of backup periods under the function to manage the space.  This means that files change during the interval periods have not been saved?  For example, the screen shows currently backups and the following periods:

    Jan 26: 12-18 Mar, 12 GB 10.40

    Apr 04, 12-13 Apr, 12 GB 19.62

    27 April, 12-27 Apr, 12 GB 05.16

    May 06,12 - May 06,12 02.41 GB

    May 27.12 - 17 Jun, 12 GB 03.41

    Hello

Backups are created in sets called backup periods. To maximize your disk space, Windows backup backup all folders selected, the first time it's run and then it only backs up files that are new or have been modified since the last backup was made. Periodically, Windows creates a new, full backup. Each full backup is called in a backup. When you view your backups of files, you can see all the backup periods with date ranges. If you decide to delete backups of files, you should always keep the most recent backup of the file.

    Hello

You back up files to any external device?

You can try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1: System File Checker

System File Checker will try to help you in fixing all corrupted files and folders from the computer.

Please click on the link below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Method 2: check if the Windows backup service is started or not.

Follow these steps to search for the same thing.
    1. Select start > run and type services.msc.
    2. search for the Service backup Windows and double-click the Windows backup service to bring up Windows backup service properties window.
    3. Select automatic and then click Start.
    4. If this is not the case, it just select the menu drop down and then start.
Also check if the service dependency for this service is started by following the same steps as above.
First of all, to check which is the service dependency for Windows backup service follow these steps:
    1. Select start > run and type services.msc.
    2. search for the Service backup Windows and right-click on it. Click Properties and on the Dependencies tab, you will find the dependent services.
    3. write down these services that depend on and follow the 4 steps above and launch these services too.

  • Windows backup recovery

I have completed 50% of a backup (data type). If I stop the backup. What happens if I:

    1. Change the settings uncheck some files that I chose to save
    2. Return to the back which I guess means just run it again.
    1. The backup will pick up right where I left and incremental backup from there?
    2. What happens to files that have been saved in folders which are now disabled
    Thank you

I suggest avoid you the Windows backup program and you get a good commercial backup program. This forum meets for a windows problem reports. I know that I was very impressed when I tried it. Three I'm familiar with and like Norton Ghost (which I use for 8 years no 1 problem), Easeus Todo Backup free, you can download it from

http://www.TODO-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm and Memeo , which has 30 day free trial and you can buy it for $29.99 - you can download it from http://memeo.com . You can get Ghost for almost nothing (like me), if you look at the sales.

The March 2012 issue of PC World has been very high on the program FREE of Easeus and CNET. From my experience with a variety of configurations, I must say that I am very impressed. As Ghost will support up to a network drive and it will create a bootable CD for when your PC does not start. See comment by CNET of it to

    http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Todo-Backup-Free/3000-2242_4-10964460.html?tag=mncol;1#editorsreview .

    -

CNET has a lot of reviews of backup program to

    http://download.cnet.com/windows/backup-software/?tag=contentBody;sideBar .

Some of them are free (the last time I checked there over 300), some have free trials (more), and some are buying only (more than 200).

    -

External hard drives are the best for backup. You can get a 500 GB one for about $65 a 1 TB for about $80. You can also buy a flash drive of 32 GB for less than $20. It is the best insurance you can buy ever!

I hope this helps. Good luck
