I try to send an email to apply for a job with my resume and were invited to fill out my incoming and outgoing servers who should I go to find this information responds (in lay mans terms please)

    [Moved from comments]

You should contact your provider of messaging service for this information.  It is an electronic forum and communications in Windows, but it cannot dictate your information you need, as that depends on your provider.  If you go through Hotmail, then ask in the forum of Hotmail here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windowslive/forum/hotmail if not, see your email provider's website.  They usually have this information on it.  You will also need to specify which version of Windows you are using and how you access your emails in this version.  Without more information, it is unlikely that you will get more specific help.

  • Mailing address: is it normal that the outgoing servers use different Port # on each device?

I have problems with my Mail app, so I'm systematically review all parameters. Noticed that the port of the outgoing server is different on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Is this normal, or they are all should be the same for an e-mail account given?

They should be identical, unless you use different protocols or of the security mechanisms on each device as a pop on a device and IMAP on another device or by using ssl for connection and tls for another. Check all the settings not only ports.

  • How to change my password and my incoming and outgoing mail servers

Hello, I used Outlook Express for years and I know how to set up 'everything' I need in the pages of parameters because their settings pages are all "logical" with everything out in the open.

However, Thunderbird "cache" their settings behind the buttons and confusing forms.

There are many tutorials that explain how to set up Thunderbird since the beginning and show how to set up a new e-mail account. But I was not able to find a tutorial on how to change my password "after that" I have been using Thunderbird for a while.

I'm also no way to change the incoming and outgoing servers. For example, I changed my hosting at another Web host and I need to use the new the new hosting company e-mail servers and I can not anywhere, see any tutorials that cover current activities or day by day with Thunderbird.

Can you please change your screens of settings for Thunderbird easier for new people to find these normal and necessary?

Also can you please point me to a tutorial that shows me how to change my password and change my incoming and outgoing servers?

    Thank you very much!

    Edward

You can change your settings to

    • Thunderbird > tools > accounts settings
    • After clicking the account settings > you get a pop up window
      • Left hand side you can see the list of emails that you configured
      • Same left panel last option is the outgoing server settings

Thunderbird is the customer between the user and the mail server. She never recorded your personal membership. If you want to change your password, go to your mail server and change it via browser

  • How can I change my outgoing mail server but keep the same email to send?

    Hi team,

I have a new job and a new e-mail address of work, I now work for a charity in Australia, so I have an [email protected] address to my email.  Its all good while I'm at work, but the technology that put in place said when I'm at home, I need to use my own mail server outgoing (its optusnet so I'm at work).  So my question is how to keep my [email protected] outgoing e-mail address?

When I try to send an email, I get the window that says optusnet... will not send the email and I can choose my other outgoing servers (iCloud or gmail) in a list, but when I change to one of these options automatically change the e-mail address sending the e-mail.

As I said I work for a charity and the nature of some of my emails and requests, it is important that sending email looks official so it's kinda a problem unless I am limited to only send emails during work hours while I'm physically at work - which is not really going to do it for me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Have a nice day

You can access your work e-mail account via a web interface (browser)? If so, you can use it as who would use your work email of course.

I don't know any other way at home, it's your ISP servers that carry your email and they don't recognize another provider.

  • Unable to send email after installing Thunderbird v24.4.0

I can retrieve electronic mail, but cannot send, just after the upgrade to 24.4.0.

First I tried with my Verizon outgoing settings and I get the message: failed to connect to the server outgoing.verizon.net

Then I moved my vps mail server outgoing servers. Because it is new, I had never used and asked me for my password, which I entered and he agreed. After accepting the password, I received the message: the message could not be sent using SMTP server mail.portraitartist.com for some unknown reason.

I have AVG Internet Security. I was hunting around for something that would block Thunderbird and have not found anything, although I know not all this with precision of the AVG settings. I know I've read other posts on this problem for people who have Norton, but I can't find one 'allow' in AVG - there's probably an equivalent, but have not found.

Any help on the place where check AVG and in general any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I contacted Verizon and I shared my screen with them and they changed some settings.

They changed the port to 465 and connection from none to SSL/TLS security. They had me also to change my password to 8 characters instead of 6, and then it worked.

Since this last update Thunderbird was a security update, maybe he didn't like my settings. But I never thought these things myself.

  • How to view mailbox from my other accounts of e-mail in Outlook Express

How can I display the Inbox of my yahoo email a/c and a/c of Hotmail e-mail in Outlook Express? I don't know the names of the incoming/outgoing servers of both suppliers. In Outlook Express, I can view a mail even when I'm offline.

You would need to have POP3 (or IMAP) accounts with each, and you can check with their Web sites for the appropriate e-mail client settings and server names and ports.  It may be according to the type of e-mail account you have.  In OE, then you can go to tools | Accounts | Add | Mail and fill in the information, but that will depend on the account.

  • Can I set up Windows Mail to send messages and not receive?

sending messages multiple pc while receiving on one PC

I am trying to set up Windows Mail on Vista machine just to send messages and do not receive because I get all my email on another computer running Windows XP. Is it feasible with the same account name and service provider? How can I make sure that don't get emails on the machine Vista. Windows Mail requires both incoming and outgoing servers?

When you set up your account send only, you should be able to disable the e-mail is.  Under the general tab of the account properties, you will find a box "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing".  Uncheck this option.  You can include any string of fake server, you want the name of the incoming server.  The account will never check incoming mail, but you can use it to send mail.

  • My email is hacked I have to delete it and the password

My email has been hacked. I installed a new account. You need to remove the old one and other relevant details that I must.

Change of Auditors in an e-mail client would not affect the box mailbox itself, apart from the fact that you will stop making reference to the mailbox.  The hacker will always have control over this mailbox and can still access all personal data resident in it.  If you used to leave a copy of messages on the server, the hacker can see everything that you wrote, including the e-mail addresses of all those who have sent messages.  If the email contains sensitive information, the hacker still has that as well.  If you have kept your contacts online in the mailbox, the hacker has those too.

If you can still connect to the mailbox through a web browser, you can stop the pirate.  If you wish to continue using the mailbox, simply change the password to something long and a mixture of lower and uppercase, letters, numbers, and special characters.  If there are security issues, change their answers to these questions so, specifying the wrong answers you remember.  For example, if a security is "what city were you born?", answer "Moonbase Alpha" or some other nonsense response and then remember the answers that you used.  Check to make sure none of the secondary addresses have been added to the account or the hacker may be able to access it again.  Make sure that the primary address is always yours.  With this type of approach, you should be able to secure your mailbox again.

If you do not keep copies of messages on the server, the hacker can't do much use the account because it does not contain a lot of information and abandonment it's a way to fix the problem.  The hacker doesn't have access to any of the data on your PC itself (unless you have some sort of spybot on your PC), so it is not necessary to disinfect local data.

Such a compromise has become quite common these days and a couple of the reasons are because people 1) access their online resources of networks unprotected and open like those found in cafés Internet, Starbuck, or same McDonald and 2) they do not use SSL for the connection, it does not the service or because they do not realize that they should.  When using an online service such as, for example, Facebook, we should allow the security option in the profile security settings to use "https" all the time or access to the service with https:// instead of http://...  This encrypts communications and your traffic can be sniffed with common tools to steal credentials like Firesheep, a plug-in for the popular browser Firefox.  In an e-mail client, incoming and outgoing servers should also allow (or require) encrypted connections (SSL or TLS) and if they are not, you should never use an e-mail on a public network client.

    Hi t-4-2 & ironworkerway:

Let me add my 2 cents, the only way to be sure to get Norton analysis really off e-mails, remove Norton completely and then apply this tool.

Download and run the Norton removal tool:
    http://Service1.Symantec.com/support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039
Then, perform a custom installation of Norton and remove from the analysis when the choice of e-mail messages.

In my humble OPINION, a better option would be to leave Norton completely out of the picture and install Avast, (without analysis of the e-mail) or Microsoft Security Essentials, (don't even use analysis of e-mail).

The two freeware. No resource hogs. And much more user-friendly WinMail.

    Avast:
    http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under the Protection of the resident, uncheck the box: e-mail, Internet and Outlook/Exchange.

    Microsoft Security Essentials:

(No analysis of e-mail to worry)

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BB Hub stopped working - don't pick up emails for all three accounts (not MS Exchange)

For several weeks my PRIV has works beautifully.  Yesterday afternoon, however, BB Hub inexplicably stopped to pick up my emails on my three e-mail accounts.  I have two domains with Network Solutions and a gmail account.

I tried everything until I dropped.  I tried the forced shutdown, cleared the cache and restarted several times.  Twice I have deleted an e-mail account and either turned off or restarted later and then set up again.  However, the account is not synchronized with the server.  Yesterday I couldn't send emails, either, and after typing them, they disappeared.  Now, however, the connectiona on outgoing servers seem to work.  During the last hour, I successfully sent e-mails to test all the email accounts three.

Also yesterday, I looked up AT & T to offer the software update.  The message I get is that my software is up to date and try once again to 23 hours.

I hope someone can help me.  I'm dead in the water with no e-mail service.

    Thanks in advance.

  • How can I fix the error ID: 0X800CCC0F on Windows Live Mail

Hello!... How can I fix this error message on my Windows Live Mail?... I use Microsoft Security Essentials antivirus...

    Thanks in advance!

Can't send or receive messages for the account "e-mail address." Your server suddenly put an end to the connection. The possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

    Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com '.
Windows Live Mail error ID: 0x800CCC0F
    Protocol: POP3
    Port: 995
    Secure (SSL): Yes

The fact that the behavior is transitional in nature and have no problem access to your * address email is removed from the privacy * accounts very strongly suggests the problem side of Yahoo (i.e., incoming & outgoing servers).

If you were not able to access your Yahoo account or the * address email is removed from the privacy * accounts, I would have suggested tweaking your maximum transmission network (MTU) setting - wireless, but it's clearly NOT the case here. [1]

Tip: Wireless connections depend as well on the strength & consistency of the signal from the router so you are to the router, the better. If your home has walls of stone or brick, the wireless signal will not lead very far (for example, an office on the first floor of a room on the third floor).

    ==========================================
[1] the MTU parameter controls the maximum size of a TCP/IP packet that sends your computer. If the Internet service provider has a limit to what can be received, your packages can become fragmented, thus causing problems.
