Unable to send email after installing Thunderbird v24.4.0

I can retrieve electronic mail, but cannot send, just after the upgrade to 24.4.0.

First I tried with my Verizon outgoing settings and I get the message: failed to connect to the server outgoing.verizon.net

Then I moved my vps mail server outgoing servers. Because it is new, I had never used and asked me for my password, which I entered and he agreed. After accepting the password, I received the message: the message could not be sent using SMTP server mail.portraitartist.com for some unknown reason.

I have AVG Internet Security. I was hunting around for something that would block Thunderbird and have not found anything, although I know not all this with precision of the AVG settings. I know I've read other posts on this problem for people who have Norton, but I can't find one 'allow' in AVG - there's probably an equivalent, but have not found.

Any help on the place where check AVG and in general any help would be greatly appreciated.

I contacted Verizon and I shared my screen with them and they changed some settings.

They changed the port to 465 and connection from none to SSL/TLS security. They had me also to change my password to 8 characters instead of 6, and then it worked.

Since this last update Thunderbird was a security update, maybe he didn't like my settings. But I never thought these things myself.

    I had an older version of identity selector (1.8.8). Upgrading to 1.9.3 got everything working again. I was under the impression that the modules would automatically udpate themselves, but I guess I was wrong.

    It is highly unlikely that removing OE and add it again will help it.

    The message "connection refused" says unambiguously that the server aamtaout04 - winn.ispmail.ntl.com does not accept connections on port 465.  So either you have the wrong specified server, you have the wrong port specified or the server actually has a problem, despite what tells you the mail service provider.

    Error 0x800CCC0D means that the server is not found. Error 11003 socket is usually a DNS error: the name of the specified server does not exist or cannot be translated into an IP address. I want to just make sure that you are on the latest version of the program. Go to the file menu and about and make sure you're on Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528).  It is not likely that having an older version is the real problem, but it's always good from the most recent version to let you know that you have all the bug fixes.

    nethop.NET is a really small ISP. You can ask them if they support a SMTP
    nethop.NET no IP address or on 465 SSL or authenticated SMTP on port 587.
    If they are not, your only option is to use your outlook.com/hotmail.com/gmail
    etc account to access your messages through your ISP (and leave them in your Inbox to)
    nethop) and use hotmail, etc. while traveling. You need to set up
    Advanced.
     
    It is very common to see port 25 is blocked outside your own ISP.

    I have a found a solution by creating local folders in my old profile, by transferring all e-mails in local folders and to then by copying only the local folders into a new profile. It works now. I have just all old messages in separate folders, which for me is not a problem.

    I use the latest version of the EL CAPTAIN 10.11.04, just updated software, and I can not send my emails is to show only SMTP error can not connect to the server.

If it does not, either make you on Google user forums for help, stop trying to use Gmail with the e-mail, or just stop using Gmail altogether (strongly recommended).

    The mail server can use a form low, obsolete encryption for secure communications with customers. Recent versions of Mac OS X has changed the behavior of Mail and other applications so that they no longer tolerate low security.

    Log on to the e-mail account on the website and see if there is a security setting, you can change. I can't be more specific. Refer to the documentation of the service provider.

    If there is no adjustment, convince the upgrade of server securityserver administrator. He or she must do it anyway. Low security affects all customers, not only Mac users.

    Otherwise, you have all the right options to continue to use Mail with the service. You can disable SSL in the Advanced account settings, but that is very dangerous and may not work at all.

    You might be able to get a more flexible mail client, such as "Thunderbird", to accept the low security, or perhaps you can access the account via webmail.

    Ideally, you should switch to a provider of postal services better. You would not have this problem with a well-run service. The risk of weak SSL are known for a long time, and to competent server administrators have already taken the simple steps are sufficient to avoid these risks.

    ADDED: I've already entered my settings and provide my date of birth 29/09/1981.  I took this step because of a closely similar thread that had this step for a fix.  There was still no change after this action. I could check my emails, because I can send one to the internet provider of the e-mail, I found in the header.  So I found the file headers and I tried to add to this email, but he crossed the line.
