(Also in Panel) start > Default Programs - so-called you can "set your default programs", "associate any type of file or portocol with a program" and so on.
The problem is that you can not do that because it is all grayed out. I want to have access. How to gain access?

InDesign CS4 is not available by default programs dialog box
I am running w/Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista on a Dell computer. The computer had versions of Adobe InDesign CS3 and CS4 installed. I uninstalled CS3, but now, when I double click on any file *.indd Windows application which program use to open the file. InDesign CS4 (and many other installed programs) do not appear in the default programs dialog box. I find using the Browse button, but when I select, and then click 'Open' computer still does not appear in the dialog box window. How can I get Windows to see all programs, so that I can associate extensions with appropriate applications? I can open the files in InDesign CS4, but not by double-clicking on the file. Right now, all my obtained .indd files associated with DreamWeaver CS3.

Original title: I can't choose a default program
When I right click on a file and click on "choose program by default" I get the message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You can not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
I use Windows7 that I've updated since Vista.
It started a few months ago, but it really bugs me.
Thanks for any help! When you run the command sfc/scannow., what the message said when it was over?

If you use a browser to access your e-mail, it is the question. You can set a default e-mail application if you have an e-mail application and the browser is NOT a messaging software.
Install an e-mail client and it will work, and that's why it worked on XP because you probably had Outlook express installed.

Adobe Reader DC is on my selection of default program in Windows 8.1 riding
I just downloaded and installed Adobe Reader DC. Unfortunately there is more up my ability to select my existing Adobe Pro 9.0 as default program to open PDF files with. Even if I selected the Pro 9.0 in the Windows 8.1 Control Panel AND the control panel (associated with a file of type w / a program) seems to acknowledge that selection, all of my PDF files open w / DC Adobe except IF I right click on each file when I want to open and select Pro 9.0 manually. Adobe Pro 9.0 does not yet appear as a selection in the dialog to set your default programs.
How can I resolve this short of uninstalling Adobe DC?
Having essentially versions Acrobat and Reader before X installed is not really possible.
However, you can always set the file association to Acrobat 9.x; either by
- using the Windows http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/choose-programs-windows-uses-default feature
- repair of Acrobat
- Update Acrobat version 9.5.5

Photoshop displays do not like the default program to open files in Windows 7
I can't get Windows 7 to recognize Photoshop CS6 (with all updates from Adobe) to recognize the Photoshop as a valid tool to open files. It ignores the PS in the process of selection of applications to open - even when I drill until the appropriate folder and select PhotoShop.exe.
Fixed using regedit. Change HKEY root/applications/Photoshop default of 5.1 to 6.

I have a XP box that would only start in safe mode. I needed to repair windows, so I started updating reinstall option but to reboot it says it cannot run in safe mode then it tries to boot into normal mode but crashes - which is what I am tring to solve. Now I'm stuck because the computer is now making a loop and I'm stuck. There is no available recovery console, it shows just the installation restart then goes into the shot. If I try to launch safe mode, that it says cannot run update in safe mode then restarts in normal mode, which hangs then. I'm stuck. Boy the days where I wish I could just make the prompt C:\. Thank you.
You can connect your problematic hard drive to another PC to copy your important data, using a device such as:

I'm still not 100% convinced that you boot from the CD. Your Dell has the option of F12 to select a boot real-time device (as soon as you turn on the PC)? Also, remember that you have to "press any key to boot from the CD" when you see this screen! Of course, during a reboot, you start from the hard drive.
Even if you did everything by the book, a repair installation could easily 'loop' as you describe. But as long as your hardware is healthy, a clean install is done.

the title does not appear in the program sequence window in CC PP
I'm trying to add a simple title in one of the clips of a video that I am editing. I see the title in the window title with the clip in the background, but when I play the video playback does not show the title but the clip.
How can I can solve this problem? I use a trial version of PP CC.
Thank you
Hmmm.
You create a title showing the video behind her. Then you close the Titler window. Then, you drag and drop the title on a higher than the video track. You set the time indicator current (ICT) on the title - and you do not see the title?
You didn't accidentally stab the eye on this path you have? Try to put it on a track still higher.

Disabling services not microsoft and startup programs for Windows Vista
I have Windows Vista on my laptop and for some reason some difficulties to install updates for Microsoft Office 2007 security. I got a microsoft support shadow person my computer and fix the problem for me. The problem is that I have to disable all non-microsoft services and first start a number of issues on my computer and I can't remember how he disabled them.
In the Start Menu search box type "run" without the quotes. In the run box type "msconfig" without the quotes. When open the System Configuration utility, click the Services tab, check the box that says "hide all Microsoft services". When Microsoft services are hidden, clear the check boxes next to the other services. Click apply and then click OK, close the System Configuration utility and restart your computer. After installing the security updates restart if necessary, and then restart the System Configuration utility, put checkmarks in the boxes unchecked, you uncheck "Hide all Microsoft services", click on apply and OK, close the System Configuration utility and restart your computer.
