• Stop, reboot is not available on the stop dialog box

  I have a XP SP3 box that does not "Shutdown" or "Restart" as options in the shutdown dialog box (the box that you see when you click on stop in the start menu.)  The only option available is to disconnect.  I see no issues update, AV is up to date.  The machine is part of a domain, but I checked the local security and domain strategies to see if 'hide closed' was enabled, but it wasn't.

  I had a similar problem. I found a solution through SevenForums: the link below has a REG file download that fixed this easily (option 1).

  You must have a configuration problem on your system.

  6 inDesign (CS4) works perfectly well on the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 7 versions. Many users as same Adobe employees use or have used this version of InDesign in these environments of operating system without problem that it is associated with the operating system.

  Go to Acrobat preferences, and in the pane general, click Reset all warnings (see image below).

  I have good news and bad news.

  The good news is that the file opens correctly here in CS5.5 and CS4. The bad news is that this means that there is a problem with your CS4.

  I would start by trashing preferences. It's quick, easy to make and not too destructive, and if you're lucky, it will be able to solve the problem, but I would not put the chances of success more than 50-50. See replace your preferences

  You have a Time Machine backup? If you do, the next thing I'd like to try restoring the application folder InDesign from a time before the problem started.

  If all else fails, it's probably time to bite the bullet and get out of the installer. First try to run an installation to 'fix' on top of what's there. If this, too, goes down, then I would like to uninstall CS4, run the CS5 own tool (which can also clean up to CS4 - see resolve installation problems with the cleanup of CS5 tool), and then restart the computer and reinstall. If you have any custom stuff you must make copies of things like shortcut games and workspaces that you can replace as explained in the thread about resetting the prefs.

  I have Microsoft Office installed and I want to use Outlook as my default client, but whenever I try to click on a mailto link, it always raise Windows Live. When I try to select Outlook by default to the list of default programs, it is not yet on the list. Also, it is not listed in the Associations. I tried to repair my Office installation, and it still does not show upward. I checked it in Outlook to be default, but this does not do much of anything. How can I get Outlook on my list of default programs?
  I have a toshiba windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit operating system, and recently I have updated to Internet Explorer 10.

  You should contact your local administrator, managing your account, to enable the service to publish online.

  In addition, your students will have their Adobe ID, license after the expiry of the trial period, to continue to work with Adobe InDesign.

  If you want to just use the URL of the document published for the purpose of teaching, you can publish online using your Adobe ID first instance and use the URL generated. Currently, there is no deadline for this URL. However, you will not be able to publish online, after the expiration of your trial period.

  On the other hand, if you want your students to publish InDesign online, they can do that during the trial period, but not after that. InDesign should be allowed after the expiry of the trial period.

• InDesign CS4 do not place a word document

  I just had to InDesign CS4 installed on my computer at work. The installation went perfectly, and I was able to open InDesign files with no problems at all. But when I tried to put a word document in one of these formats:

  1. 2010 (.doc, .docx, .rtf, .txt)
  2. same formats of 2007

  He gave me the following error message:

  either the file does not exist, you may not, or the file may be in use by another application

  I went into the system to see if all this relates to this specific word file is open - nothing. I made sure there is no open files office.

  If this problem is already solved, please excuse the duplication and if possible I would like to have a link to the thread.

  In general this error appears when the file is opened. Perhaps the temporary Word file has not deleted properly when closing.

  Application migration is not a reliable method.  You must install.

  You can download the demo version of the software through the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

  I just bought a Mac and hoped to install CS4 trial version for 30 days and use it until my copy of CS5 arrives (I hope that here).

  OK I cracked.

  Navigate to the directory Win Mac and remove the 'Win' in the name of the file and change the extension dmg.

• Lightroom 5.0 does not automatically open the import dialog box when the inserted memory card

  Lightroom 5.0 fails to detect the memory card and import dialog box open. It has always worked well in Lightroom 2, 3 and 4.  Same cards, same camera, same iMac using OSX 10.8.4. Manual import works OK, the card is detected fine.

  Thank you very much, this TOTALLY WORKED for me.  Win 10, LR 5.7.1.  An inserted SD card of Nikon D7000 in the SD card reader built-in to laptop and Windows automatically started both Lightroom AND automatically went straight into LR import feature.  Perfect.

  (However, if LR is already running, insert the card SD initiates not import feature, despite having turned on the required checkbox in the preferences.)  Nevertheless, it is progress!   :-)

• PS CS4 Actions - insertion of a pop-up dialog box

  I think I've seen this before in a Photoshop action. During the action (maybe it was at the end), a dialog box appears with the copyright information (or something in that sense) of the creator of this action. What I would like is to be able to create an action and have a small pop window - up appears (until the action starts) which would contain notes (notes custom from me) this action works. There are a lot of actions in which I do, but only use every two months. These actions have usually stops them where I have to adjust the dimensions. I wish I could create a pop-up dialog (early action) which would contain the types of notes. Otherwise, I have to go back to handwritten notes in which I did (that's if I can find these notes).

  Is it still possible?

  You can Stop into the wheel of the Panel menu actions, type your message (anything you care to type) and check allow to continue.

  Hi all, yesterday I managed to convert RAW files from the bridge in CR5 Tiff files without problem. Today, when I'm trying to do, the Image Processor dialog box does not appear. Any help out there? I get a message "initial request for the bridge is not active and must be started at least once"... huh?

  Okay, I provide my own solution... I had a previous bridge from adobe installed as a trial version still on my computer. Once I uninstalled the bridge worked raw file interface.  You would think that since the versions were named differently Adobe could not understand how to solve problems like that. Sheesh a waste of half a day.
