  We have a printer all-in-one HP Officejet Pro 8600 operating from a desktop HP with Windows 7. Recently, in the last two weeks my wife told me, we cannot print photos. The documents appear to be printed without a problem, but when trying to print a photo we get a window titled 'Send Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8600'. We have never used or even hung fax capablitly since we have owned this printer (maybe 2-3 years).   Print picture of what program?  Some programs to keep their own default values for the printer.  It seems that the default printer for the printing of the photo program has been set to Fax.  Try to open the program, select the Officejet Pro 8600 as the printer rather than the Officejet Pro 8600 fax.

  OEM for the printer manufacturer is responsible for the proper functioning of the printer
  and their drivers. Check with the printer manufacturer's support, their online
  documentation and drivers and ask in their forums.

  If you USB, most of the time, the PC will recognize what printer is which. Sometimes PORTS does not commute. You can manually change the correct ports if necessary.

  CLICK ON THE MENU START

  1 devices and printers

  2 right CLICK on the printer

  3. choose the PRINTER PROPERTIES

  4. click on PORTS

  5. There will be a list of ports with one (checked marked). If it's on the wrong port, change to the right pair and choose APPLY.

  (NOTE: it must ALWAYS be on a USB port or a wireless connection.) Some ports wireless start with a #(adresse IP) or a SERIAL number)

  I had this same question posted under Outlook but was advised to post it under Windows...
  I use windows xp professional outlook express and the body of the email will not be printed.  The printer works well with other programs and the title of the print emails.  I does not matter if I try to print starting from the preview pane, or open the email and try to print from there.  All the settings are the same as they were while he was working.  We use a printer HP Officejet Pro 8500 has.  I have forwarded this email to my son who also uses xp and outlook and print with all the problems.  I made a diagnosis on the printer and it says it's in good working condition.  From now the only way to print an email is to copy in word and print it from there.  Any thoughts?

  Method 1: Clear the Auto-select option for encoding.

  a. open the message.

  b. click view in the menu bar.

  c. point to encoding , and then clear the auto-select Option.

  Try to resave the EPS to the native .ai or .psd format (depending on whether it's raster or vector) and use it.

  Printer HP DeskJet 6840 worked very well under Windows 7 but now on Windows 8, in some cases, parts of the first character in line are reported missing and occasionally more characters missing in some areas.  In some cases, the upper part of the character is absent, and in some cases, the last character online missing all or part of itself.  The printer is connected to my local network via a cable (not for wireless).

  The hardware test page prints fine (says there is ink and the jets are clean), but the Test Page from printer Windows and other programs (Word, Excel, etc.) have this injury problem.  When you print to my printer HP OfficeJet 6700 (from the same computer), I can print correctly.  The 6700 is connected wireless.

  I downloaded, removed, reinstalled the latest driver HP and all Windows updates are installed.  I am willing to sell the printer on eBay and buy something else, but if someone on this forum could offer suggestions.

  Hi rcowen, sorry to hear you have s question to get your printer to work correctly with windows 8.   I did some research and I noticed that this model of printer is not supported with Windows 8.  Here is a document that shows the minimum requirements. http://goo.GL/IMWBER

  What you can try to do is to use the generic Windows 8 printer driver.  If you go to add a printer option in windows 8 and select the 990c Deskjet printer driver or the Deskjet 550 c printer driver and then connect your printer, this may solve your problem.  I can't guarantee that it works, but I had it turn out to be successful for me in the past.

  Another option, because you have an HP printer, you may well qualify for the "Trade In Trade Up" program that offers HP.  Everything you need to call HP at 1-800-474-6836 and ask about this option.  You will be asked your serial number located on the back of your printer on a sticker that is located close to a bar code.

  A month or so I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 (have since updated to SP3), and ever since then the LAN connection icon does not appear in the network connections window, and even when I plug the ethernet cable it does not automatically turn on the connection to the local network.
