P6 - 2220t: Gtx 550ti

Hello, I plan to update my graphics card and cpu for my im cpu get an i3 2120. For my gpu im planning on getting a Gtx 550 ti, then my PSU handle both? Be my BIOS and motherboard is compatible with my gpu and cpu?

Hi there @Reed71,

That the Forums are with you!  I understand that you are looking for some tips of compatibility for system updates, you intend.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Referring to the HP Pavilion p6 - 2220 t product specifications and configurable Optionsand HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, H-Cupertino3-H61-uA TX (Cupertino3), you can see the following:

The power supply has a power of 300W.

Under the processor of the options of the "Core i3-2120 (Sandy Bridge) (65W), 3.3 GHz" is an option.

Under expansion slots, there is a PCI Express x 16 (Gen 2.0) card slot

The GTX 550ti is not listed as a configurable option, taking a look at the specifications of GeForce GTX 550 it - geforce.com, to see what the card needs:

Bus support PCI-E 2.0 x 16

Minimum system requirements power: 400 W

One additional power connectors 6-pin

Bus support is very good, but the power required is greater than your production capacity of power, so the PSU would need to something higher to 400 W and you need to be sure to have at least an extra power connector.  Thus, your system can support this card.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

Original title: since upgrading to Windows 8, Skype can not detect my sound card

Now, it's not to say that my sound card does not work as it is certainly.  I have a card integrated sound with my Nvidia GTX 550ti I'm running two in SLI mode.  However, when I got windows 7 more earlier today, Skype detected sound card very well.  When I've upgraded to windows 8 afternoon program is no longer detected the sound card, but he DOES not see my headset Xbox 360 Wireless.  I've updated everything and double checked to make sure I have the latest drivers.  I uninstalled and then re installed Skype.  IM convinced that the problem is that something is Skype of BLOCKING access to the sound card.  However, it cannot be Norton 360 as it wasn't a problem before.

That being said, it would be Windows Defender?  It is also a problem with Skype for windows 8.  So at least it seems to be a problem.

Hey, the problem is now resolved.  Skype has released an update awhile back and it fixed the issue. I'm not sure where it was.

  • P6769 UK: card Geforce GTX 970 of GTX 550ti graphics upgrade

My husband bought a HP PC, because I work for HP.  The Geforce GTX550ti card worked perfectly on the P6769 UK PC running Windows 7; He bought the new card GTX 970 but couldn't make it work with Windows 7, so decided to put the old card back in and install Windows 10 to see if that would solve the problem, which was not. The old card works well running Windows 10 but not the GTX970. Despite extensive research and talk to the 'experts' that he has not yet found a solution - he has a terminal illness, so I would really appreciate help from someone in the forum to help him to enjoy what should be the great graphics for the short time he has left. Please respond to this message and personal email address [personal information deleted] If you can help.

    @Susan_HP

The NVIDIA GTX 970 will not work on your PC. Video in graphics card BIOS and the BIOS is your PC are not compatible.

I suggest that you are looking for an old graphics like the NVIDIA GTX 660. I've used both the TI 550 and 660 and the 660 is a far superior graphics card.

  • Help! ASUS GeForce GTX 550Ti do not accept the Precision T3400

    Hey guys,.

I've upgraded an abandoned T3400 I received through work.  I upgraded to a C2D E7400 to a C2Q Q9550, equip the new memory, a 60 GB Intel SSD which is my boot drive and tried to install a 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Blue makes clicking noise at startup and is not recognized by the BIOS or Windows.  But the main thing that interests me is why my T3400 does not recognize my Asus GeForce GTX 550 Ti?  It is listed in the BIOS and Device Manager in the form of generic VGA card with no. make or model number.  I tried to update the BIOS with software from ASUS site but I get an error message saying something in the sense of "this device is not defined in VBIOS.  I don't see where else to go and I would like to take full advantage of this card.

  • Pavilion p6-2310ea supports EVGA Geforce GTX 550 Ti?

The only requirements for the card is a PCI-Express 2.0 compatible motherboard and a power of 600 watts with a PCI Express 6 power connector pins. The system is not a 600 Watt power required installed with the computer, but I bought one and has installed. The problem is when the drivers have been installed, the screen went black. The graphics card has failed since when plugged in (black screen). Is there a compatibility issue here that I forgot, the motherboard is definitely declared to be compliant PCI-E 2.0?

    Hello

You have a Windows PC 8 liveries so that changes must be made.  THE EVGA GTX 550TI is not active UEFI and it will not be an update of the vbios from EVGA.

Remove the GTX 550TI and restart the PC.  Now uninstall the NVIDIA drivers.

Review of the topics below.  You will need to boot into the bios and disable secure boot and turn on legacy mode.

Now install the GTX 550Ti and the startup of your PC and install the NVIDIA drivers.

    You are welcome.

I love EVGA products.  They are of high quality and they have a very fine Technical Support.  I see no reason why the card does not work in your computer.  Here is the phone number for Technical Support EVGA: 1-888-880-3842.  You can call them if you want to make sure.

  • Room for a gtx 550 ti

My p9310y would have a room for a gtx 550ti?

Bzar, the map in the link to insert in the case, but you have to upgrade the PSU.  The card requires a minimum of 400W.  The power supply of the computer is 300W.  It's just too much difference.

I love the Corsair and OCZ PSU.  Read the reviews to see what users have to say about them.

  • GTX 960 or 970 with AMD FX 8150?

    Hello people

    My current system specs:

    AMD FX 8150

    Gigabyte 990XA UD3, 16 GB 1333 MHz RAM

SSD Intel 160 GB, 2 TB WD Black

    NVIDIA GTX 550ti

I intend to upgrade the graphics card for this system, the current 550ti is a very reliable companion for me in recent years but he stutters now. So I need advice from you guys about the upgrade. I mean with my CPU will there be a performance difference significant between 960 and 970 (two variants of 4 GB)? My workflow includes Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Davinci Resolve with 1080 p and 4K images.

Answer with real-world data would be appreciated.

    Thank you

the two cards must be several times faster than the gtx 550 ti. the 970 gtx is maybe 40-50% + faster than the gtx 960. the gtx 960 would be good for adobe, except speedgrade software. DaVinci resolve depends more on the gpu and should do better with the gtx 970. color adjustments you make to solve, as the gpu will be used and replace the processor as the bottleneck. If you do not much settings or use of effects like NR or sharpen etc., there is a small chance the gtx 960 4 GB just might be sufficient.

  • Power supply related issue

Hi, I bought this HP Pavilion p7-1241 Dekstop 2 months. I intend to add an EVGA GeForce GTX 550Ti 192 bits (Fermi) 1 GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x 16 video card and I wonder if I need to improve my power of 300w. If I do need to update, how many watts do I need for my desktop with this video card and where to buy.

    Vino09, welcome to the forum.

According to the website of EVGA GTX 550Ti requires a minimum of 400 w to work properly.  If it were me, I would upgrade the power supply (PSU).  I normally recommend at least 500W.  This allows for future updates.  You can actually use any power.  It won't hurt the system.  The computer draws so much power that it needs to function properly.

I like Corsair and OCZ PSU.  They develop products for lovers / players at a reasonable price.  Measure the existing PSU and compare them to those you choose to ensure that it fits in the space provided.

  • Unable to start with a new graphics card

Recently, I upgraded my old 550ti GTX with a new Radeon HD 7850 from powercolor.  After I installed the new card, there is no display, and there is no position, so I don't think it's even starting up.

The old GTX has worked very well, so the pci slot is ok.  The GTX 550ti uses a 6-pin connector for the power supply, so I think that the power supply is too thin.   I uninstalled all the drivers from nvidia and tried to install the new card.  No boot.  The integrated vga works, so the cable is fine.

Powercolor's website States, "mainboard not able to detect bios graphics properly during boot UEFI" and recommends an update of the bios. Referenced from this link (http://www.powercolor.com/us/support_faq.asp)

UPDATE! I am very (very) pleased to report that this problem has been resolved.  After building my courage (and saying a quick prayer), I decided to use the update of the Bios that is only for windows 8 on my Board.  And success!

After updating the Bios, which is only like 2 minutes to complete, my PC runs the card powercolor!  In the end, a bios update was indeed necessary, and I accomplished successfully.

Caveat! If you have the same problem, I still recommend that a bios update is a last resort.  I could have just gotten lucky, do what I did to your own attention.

Now, in closing, I have a few questions.   Why this update was so hard to find?  Personally, I used an update of the bios on my desktop PC p7-1240 with the Jasmine MSI Ms 7778.  If it worked, why is he not on the page to update my PC?  Why the documentation says clearly that the operating system must be windows 8, when in fact it is false.   I am running windows 7, and the update worked.

My new update of the bios supports processors AMD of Richland?  Before I bought the graphics card, I bought a new Athlon II X 4 760 K Black Edition, but had to return it. Even if the chipset supports all sockets of FM2, the bios is not.

I can't believe that I am the first and perhaps the only person to try this solution.

Thanks for all the tips.  This problem is solved.

  • Replace the video card on Pavilion m9450f - what "s the orphan?

It probably doesn't matter, except that it is driving me crazy.  I just replaced the graphics card on a m9450f.  The original was a GeForce NVidia 9800 GT with 512 MB of memory, I do not know the manufacturer.  The other, a PNY NVidia Geforce GTX 550Ti jumped to the (yay for empty arrays!) and seems to work very well.

Here's the thing.  The old card, in addition to the connection of normal PIN on the bottom and the normal power at the end of the map, a connection two sons near the front of the card on the side not pinned. A twisted pair red and black fell from there on the edge of the motherboard.  I'm unable to find information on what connection did and why he didn't need to do this on the map again, more powerful. I feel that my IKEA futon will collapse because of the surplus allen screw when I finished editing.

    Can anyone help?

    Hello

The two sons who came from the card would the SPDIF header on the edge of the motherboard.  This allows the motherboard route audio digital HDMI video cards that do not accept no digital audio via the PCI-E slot.

I already know that I have to get a new PSU, I want to know if this card will fit, or if she would have heating issues, being too tight etc..

    Hello

I don't know what is happening with your above links but Google toolbar "" Blocker prevents access. I can work around that issue, but it is very unusual for that to happen on this forum.

This EVGA 550 itis 8.25 "in length and will adapt as long as the adjacent PCI slot is vacant.  You will need to install a bigger power supply.  I recommend the Corsair Cx500, or CX600.
