Unable to start with a new graphics card

Recently, I upgraded my old 550ti GTX with a new Radeon HD 7850 from powercolor.  After I installed the new card, there is no display, and there is no position, so I don't think it's even starting up.

The old GTX has worked very well, so the pci slot is ok.  The GTX 550ti uses a 6-pin connector for the power supply, so I think that the power supply is too thin.   I uninstalled all the drivers from nvidia and tried to install the new card.  No boot.  The integrated vga works, so the cable is fine.

Powercolor's website States, "mainboard not able to detect bios graphics properly during boot UEFI" and recommends an update of the bios. Referenced from this link (http://www.powercolor.com/us/support_faq.asp)

Here are my specs.

Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance

UPDATE! I am very (very) pleased to report that this problem has been resolved.  After building my courage (and saying a quick prayer), I decided to use the update of the Bios that is only for windows 8 on my Board.  And success!

After updating the Bios, which is only like 2 minutes to complete, my PC runs the card powercolor!  In the end, a bios update was indeed necessary, and I accomplished successfully.

Caveat! If you have the same problem, I still recommend that a bios update is a last resort.  I could have just gotten lucky, do what I did to your own attention.

Now, in closing, I have a few questions.   Why this update was so hard to find?  Personally, I used an update of the bios on my desktop PC p7-1240 with the Jasmine MSI Ms 7778.  If it worked, why is he not on the page to update my PC?  Why the documentation says clearly that the operating system must be windows 8, when in fact it is false.   I am running windows 7, and the update worked.

My new update of the bios supports processors AMD of Richland?  Before I bought the graphics card, I bought a new Athlon II X 4 760 K Black Edition, but had to return it. Even if the chipset supports all sockets of FM2, the bios is not.

I can't believe that I am the first and perhaps the only person to try this solution.

Thanks for all the tips.  This problem is solved.

HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t CTO desktop PC

    Configuration:
    Intel Pentium CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics Driver version Family: 8.15.10.2291 dated 27/01/2011
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

  • Does not start with the new graphics card

Hello. I have a P7-1058uk Pavilion Cleveland-GL8 motherboard with integrated graphics.

I bought a new monitor that has resolution 2560 x 1440, equal the integrated graphics card can face if tried to to level with a Gigabyte GT630 card.

When I start, I have now the chance to the blue HP screen but not more details. If I start with F10 or ESC key, I get a black screen instead. Whatever it is, I am asked to press ESC to enter in the start, but by pressing on the button has no effect and the computer just hangs. There is a cycle repeated very quiet click that sounds like the disk drive HARD trying to start then stop

If I remove the graphics card and connect the monitor to the integrated graphics card then all's well again (but limited to the resolution 1920 x 1080).

Perhaps foolishly, I assumed it was a problem with the residual power (300W) and not enough punch power to run the HARD drive. But who, after having upgraded to 650W it makes no difference. I also tried to download the NVidia drivers but it won't let me install because I can't get the computer to work without the graphics card and Nvidia install it because it cannot detect the hardware.

    Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

    Andrew

You can have one of these motherboards that are not happy with NVIDIA graphics cards.

This may sound a little weird, but it happens.

The other possibility is that you have damaged your home x - 16 PCI Express by installing a map requiring more that the installed power supply has been able to provide.

    matherboard: M2N78-(Violet6)

    Processor: AMD Athlon II X 4 620

    RAM: 6 GB

    Graphics card: HD 4650

Same expert people told me that I could have problems because of my matherboard and bios (I've never updated), is this true?

    @antonmartino,

Hi again.  Just below the section for memory you'll find.  What you can do is take existing specifications and the specifications of the motherboard and see what card maximum that you can put in the slot.  The only thing you want to look at is what is the power required by the new map you found and if the power supply has enough power to stay with her horse.  If you talk to any place of the computer with the specifications of this page, that I gave you, they can give you the best option.  What I do is take the listed specifications of the card and match the cards, in that you are looking to put.  Check to see if it's the same dwelling and look to see if they require the same requirement for voltage and they should work perfectly.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • Lenovo M91p desktop does not boot with the new graphics card (Blank don't screen no BIOS)

    Hi all

I recently bought a Lenovo M91p thinkcenter Desktop as an upgrade to my old PC i3.

    Old Spec is as follows:

    • Coolermaster Thunder 600W power supply
    • Card mother Intel DH55HC
    • Processor i3
    • Graphics HIS HD Radeon 7950
    • 8 GB RAM
    • HARD DRIVE 500 GB

I transferred my HD supply and Power 500 GB old to new Lenovo desktop and everything starts very well.

Then I installed 2 x 2 GB extra in the Lenovo M91p (which in fact 8GB) and updated the disk of 500 GB to 1 TB.

So my new spec is as follows:

    • Coolermaster Thunder 600W power supply
    • Card mother Lenovo Q67
    • I7 2600 3.4 Ghz CPU
    • 8 GB RAM
    • 1 to and 500 GB HARD drive

Everything Booted fine. Then I tried to install my old graphics (HIS 7950 graphics Radeon HD card) card. I got was a blank screen, no beeps, no BIOS... Nothing.

At first, I thought that my diet was not enough... So I tested a 750W power supply in the pc. Still nothing.

Then I thought that the motherboards BIOS was outdated... Updated... Still nothing. I even tried to update the firmware of the graphics card. Nothing.

The graphics card works because I tested it in my old machine and it worked 100%.

However, I took my graphics card to my provider and he tests it on another of his pieces... Did not work there either.

My PC BIOS is not supported for secure boot, in case anyone wants to know.

I am out of ideas now... Anyone able to help?

There is a white list of graphics cards that will recognize the BIOS. The 7950 HD is a map of 180w, well beyond what the power plant can provide (and case/sufficient cooling fans for) and not a single one is that Lenovo would provide support for the BIOS.

Use the search engine above to see what cards other owners have used successfully in their M91p.

    Hello

NVIDIA GTX 7xx or 9xx series graphics cards will not work in your PC.  The BIOS in "chicago" mothererboard is not compatible with the video BIOS in the graphics card.  You will need to get an older card chart such as the one of the below listed OEM HP graphics cards. Depending on the graphics card, you may need to replace the power suplly.

  • HP Pavilion p6-2469ea replace it with a new graphics card?

Then after hours of stress online and planning on the upgrade of the case, power supply and a GTX 760, I fell on contradictory comments and other experiences of users during the installation of new cards in the PC.

My PCI-E X 16 slot is a 2.0 then the card is 3.0, but they are retro-compatible, so all that means is I lost a few images, however, users have said HP lock their computers that are predefined and will prevent any installation of new parts that are not installed origanlly.

I need to know if this is true, before giving up £300 + on equipment to upgrade this PC or to get rid of it and create one from scratch.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it a lot.

The motherboard is the blue/white MS-7778 Jasmine if this is useful, with card Nvidea geforce GT 620

    Ok.

Indeed, it is stretchy. Be sure to check all system requirements of video card foresight to see if they require that you upgrade the PSU. Check the specifications of your PC to see how many Watts (RMS) power supply delivers. I just checked. It has only 300 Watts. It would be preferable to one with a little more grunt (@450 Watts or more) If your goal is to upgrade to a video card that has real power.

More low end PC have no power supplies which are equipped with six and eight-pin PCIe power connectors. They are required for general public and higher end graphics cards.

The video card on that question:

    Requirements

At least a 350 Watt power supply.

(Recommended minimum power supply + 12 volt current rating of 18 AMPS).

    Power total draw: 49 Watts

Some versions of the video card, according to the vRAM installed consume more energy.

You can add the 6200 PCI if you wish.  It does not require an upgrade of the power supply however.  It will work fine on your PSU 250 watts.  I have the 6200 circulating in a Dell with a 250W unit just to get the higher resolutions than the integrated graphic card has been able to provide in support of a monitor.

  • Need help with the new graphics card

So my trusty GTX 555 is finally dying after 4 years and 10 000 + hours so I looked in an upgrade and heard the GTX 960 would be a good upgrade for an Alienware x 51 R1. So I got a PNY GeForce GTX 960 Amazon and installed but when I turn on my system it passes to the BIOS screen and is there for about a minute and a half and it beeps every 30 seconds after the screen came. After the minute and a half or two then goes to a black screen and says the brand and model of graphics card in the upper left corner for about 5 seconds, then he sits on a black screen. I did something wrong?

    If necessary system specs:
    330W POWER SUPPLY
    Intel Core i7 2600
    8 GB RAM
    Windows 7

    Have you updated the BIOS?

Everything is plugged in right and the video card turns on. It will not be output to the screen tho and the computer does not start!

I fixed it, the problem was the safe boot in my bios, when I disabled the system booted and worked perfectly since! Thanks for the advice tho!
