Parameters optimum wireless WRT610n

Hi all

I did a lot of research but can't seem to find the answer to my questions.  However, if already answered somewhere on the forum and I missed the link, let me know.

I have a WRT610N (v.2) which I use in an environment for clients both N and G.  Right now I have the 5.0 GHz radios and 2.4 GHz, the value of 'Mixed' with 'auto' (20 vs 40 MHz MHz) band selection, which in turn the selection of the channel to be set to 'automatic '.  Everything works beautifully... However, looking at the network from "G" cards, it seems that even if the router uses the standard 6 channels for the G service clients.  This has not been a no problem (yet), but I fear that two of my neighbours networks are also running on Channel 6.  They are not very close, but still pretty close to be appear in the list of available network adapter.

Although I am a little familiar with Wireless G, I am a complete newbie when it comes to Wireless N.  My concern is that if I set the 2.4 GHz radio to use the definition of 'Standard (20 MHz)' Strip so I can select another channel (i.e. #11), this will eliminate the use of 40 MHz on this frequency and thus adversely affect the bandwidth/MIMO of my clients Wireless N band. My Wireless N customers are the priority (for example audio/video streaming, games), so I certainly don't want to change all the parameters that would be to their detriment.

To sum up, do I just let the 2.4 GHz radio set to 'Auto' to provide a network environment optimal for clients of N, or it will have no effect if I put this radio for 20 MHz frequencies, the only reason I could manually adjust the channel?

Thanks much for any input!

-DC

Whatever settings you do for 2,4 GHz, it will have an effect only 2.4 GHz 5 GHz network no network.

  • Lack of connectivity wireless WRT610N

I have a WRT610N V1 router. Radio has always been a bit eccentric work and arrested for short periods of time. It now doesn't connect at all. My computer sees the signals for 2.4 and 5 MHz networks but cannot connect to them. It was working fine until yesterday, but now I can't make it work. I also have a couple of clients, none of them can connect to wirelesss networks. The router works fine for wired connections (I also hosts connected through a box of WD Powerline) and MAC filtering is disabled. He set to OpenDNS and so used two fixed DNS addresses. I tried to reset and power off router.

I look forward to the ideas on what could be causing this problem and proposed solutions.

    Try the following steps:

    # Open the browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1 which will open the router configuration page.
    # Then go to the wireless tab, network mode keep as mixed.
For 2.4 GHz string parameters, you can make the channel width to channel 6, 9, 11 and 20 MHz only...
For the 5 GHz channel parameters, you can do channel width to 20 MHz only and channel 40 or 161...
#Adjust the following advanced settings for the two 2.4 GHz Wireless:
    ~ ~ Reduced from 100 to 75 beacon interval
~ ~ Lower the threshold of fragmentation of 2346 to 2306
    ~ ~ Lower 2347 to 2304 RTS threshold

    Then check the wireless...

  • Impossible to adjust the parameters of wireless security

I recently changed my OS XP to Win7. I have been make setting up things and installed what appears to be a much more recent version of Linksys Advisor than what I had. I had to change my wireless security settings, but ran into a problem. I have my login and my password, I get no error when entering that. When I go to finalize a change, I get the error message:

    'Device update error ".

This method or operation is not implemented.

so, what's the problem here? I don't have too download a reprint of the Linksys Advisor?

    My router is a WRT54GS

I tried to run the Advisor in XP compatibility mode. Not good.

If the software does not work on Win7, maybe you can try manual mode of the router configuration. Here is the procedure.

  • Problems of storage USb Wireless WRT610N

I found a solution, but not as you have advised.

It became clear that external hard drives with installed on them to backup utilities do not work with your router - something you don't have to stress not only when I bought it, but in all the documents that I read.

Re-formatting my hard drive in FAT32, thus eliminating the backup software has solved my problem. Even if you specify the System NTFS is supported it seemed FAT32 is the most reasonable route for compatibility. Disk utility tools can enable users to create FAT32 partitions more than 32 GB, but people should be aware that you cannot store files larger than 4 GB on FAT32 (for example a blu - ray movie).

I hope you guys at Linksys take the right steps and expose very clearly to future customers as your USB storage solution does not work with readers who have backup software and save this software you must remove everything first. I think it would be a good idea just to generally include in your documentation that this is the best people use a car clean and empty.

Thank you. Also, I hope that someone else who has this problem will be able to find it.

  • Security WRT610N

I have a few questions about security for my WRT 610N

I'll put up security for a WRT610N in a small business environment. I would like to change the password for daily, weekly or monthly (do not know immediately). I just would run in the same process every time that I put in place the new password? Will be laptops do not forget the password: say, I put the password change every week. If a laptop accessing the network more than once a week, he will remember the password or the user will need to type every time? If she remembers the password, then, when a new password is set up, the user will be asked the same way they were the first time?

I see 'passphrase' and 'key' entered in the wireless setup page security - which is what I give users to connect to the radio?

What is the best for wireless 12-20 users at once? WEP or WPA or WPA2? Someone has problems with one of them?

Is there a way to put the same password/key for the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz varies, so I only give a password to all users?

    Thank you!

Laptops will remember the password, there is no need to type it every time you connect as long as the option "remember this connection" is selected when you set up the first time (or later if you forget).

If you change the password of the router, the laptop connects just not and the user will not be asked to enter a password.   The user must pass parameters saved wireless and manually change the password to log in again.  that is you go around once a week/month etc change password of each.

Security types are listed below in order of highest to lowest (maximum to the weak encryption) encryption.

    WPA2 <--->more high encryption

    WPA

    WEP <--->low encryption

Most of the new devices are able to use WPA2, but some older devices cannot use WPA or WEP as the highest encryption possible.  Your network should be defined for the encryption of the limiter of.  i.e. you have a device which supports only WEP.  Your entire network must be set to WEP just to allow this device to connect.

You can do the same password for 2.4 and 5 GHz networks, it makes no difference.  The only difference is that SSID is being used to connect to (SSID 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz SSID).

  • Wireless lag game wired pc startup

    Hello

I recently started having a problem with lag wireless. I've set up a linksys router wrt54gl wireless and pluged my PC directly into it because it doesn't have a wireless card. Recently my roommate complain whenever I run a game on steam, it gets the offset, it is on a macbook wireless. Our internet high speed is 10 MB/s and im wondering if it is the router.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

It should not affect the good wireless speed. You can probably try to do is to change some parameters first wireless. You can change the channel on the router. Change it to either 1,3,6 and 9. If ever it is not resolved, you can try to reset the router and reconfigure the parameters and check again if you have the same problem.

  • How can I update with a version without losing any data?

I have a ZTE open regularly update with custom versions. Whenever I do this, I lose all my data on the phone, like contacts, applications installed in the store of market parameters (including wireless and send the parameters).

All these data and recovery each time settings is extremely annoying. Is there a way to not lose in the process or to save them and repristining them later?

    Hi Enrico,.

I know that for import/export of contacts, you can use the following commands:

    • to export contacts (excerpt):
    adb pull /data/local/indexedDB/chrome db

This will store all the data of your device in a folder (in this case, called db) that is created when you opened your shell.

    • to restore (push) back of the unit:
    adb push db /data/local/indexedDB/chrome

Following Github repository offers other tools and scripts for flashing, restore and backup of Gaia:

I just tried to backup/restore a few times in the past, but it did not work as expected. Feel free to test them with caution. =)

  • Backflip: Android with synchronization?

    Hello

I have a backflip and am quite happy apart from the occasional reboot and double calls when I place outgoing calls, but I had problems with connecting bluetooth to the Sync system in my car.

Does anyone have the combination of Motoblur/Sync?

You may need to start over completely with the pairing.

ON Bluetooth on your phone, go to:

    Menu

    Parameters

    Wireless control

    Bluetooth settings

Long press on the device that represents your car and select 'Twinning' in the menu that appears. Then click on "Search for devices" and it should be gone from the list. Then go through the steps that worked for you the first time you paired.

I still have more chance pairing with any device if my phone is on and in Bluetooth mode before turning on the other device and put it in pairing mode.

  • A way to keep active Wifi when the phone screen crashes?

I noticed that, although my wifi signal is lower than we should, it is not randomly drop out. He does, however, is drop out whenever the phone screen will Dim and locks (IE, home struck and then slide to unlock).

It's incredibly annoying! Is it possible to keep wifi on and connected to what I explicitly disable? It makes the option "synchronize then on the wifi only" totally useless. And I'm on wifi almost all the time. Whenever I open the phone, I expect to be in wifi to do something - not wait for a reconnection.

Seriously, it is a show-stopper for me. If I can't find a way to keep the wifi between the locks of the screen, I have to exchange the phone for anything else.

As far as I know, you can tell the standby policy wi - fi to do 1 of 3 things:

    (1) when the screen is off

    (2) never when it is plugged

    (3) never

You can get these settings by migrating the following steps:

    1. Parameters
    2. wireless & networks
    3. WiFi settings
    4. menu key (lower-left)
    5. Advanced
    6. policy watch Wi - fi

If there is no other means, I would like to learn them as well.

  • Internet WRT400N expires randomly on the pages

I have a very strange problem that I can not just to put my finger on to solve. I recently bought this router, WR400N and since it hang my fiance and I have had nothing but problems to access web pages. A web page will expire just as if the page is not there, take as + 30 seconds time-out, then give us the page expires. But if we try the page again in 1 minute about it to load very well. This happens on most pages, and from time to time, then refresh the page. I have no idea what is the cause and tried to juggle all the parameters, set to update the firmware, reconnected everything, etc. Please help me if you have had a similar problem and know the answer, thank you.

As you have already updated the firmware of your router, I suggest press and hold reset for 60 seconds... Release the reset button... Unplug the power cable from your router, wait 60 seconds and reconnect the power cable... Now re - configure your router...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...
    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings... Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

    Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...

Set the Radio band to wide - 40 MHz and change the wide to159 channel and channel of the standard to 161 - 5.805 GHz...

    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WPA wireless security, encryption, select AES... Password input your desired WPA key. For example, MySecretKey, this will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and do not forget the key.

  • Need a doc of IP configuration static 610N

    Hello

I just bought a WRT610N router. I need to set up that I can use a static IP address to pass to one of my computers and allow also the other two computers for earned DHCP. I also have a Lingo modem to my VOIP service.

Question: Is there a step by step document that show me how to configure my router 610N like that?

    Thank you

    Jay

Thanks for the quick reply JustCurious

Let me explain a little better. First of all, Im not not using wireless WRT610n at this time. My ISP gave me a static IP address as well as the door and the DNS information. Let's say that the IP address is 1.1.1.1 that maps in DNS for a host name of abc123.com. I would attribute this static IP address to my WRT610N. Inside my WAN, I have two computers that have connections to the router wired. One that I want to stay DHCP (Machine A) and the other in which I want to install a (Machine B) apache web server. When someone from the internet tries to access abc123.com:80, I want that they be directed to my router and the router then transfer all http traffic for abc123.com:80 to my Machine b. The router should just manage A computer as a DHCP machine regular.

Is this possible? I don't make any sence? I was looking for an example of this scenario in the docs and couldn't find it.

    Thanks again for your help

  • Smartphones for Curve 8830 blackBerry DVD converter software?

Everyone is a decent DVD converter (for PC or Mac) that will tear a standard commercial DVD to a file that works with the 8830 curve Media Player (or any other video player, for that matter)?  I go back with the two Mobiola/SHARP (PC) and Warelex (Mac) and no one can understand why their software does a horrible job on the conversion and in some cases images the unplayable file on the 8830.

I found that the curve won't play .avi, will play only in selective .3gp, but seems pretty solid on mp4.  Of course, once I achieve a conversion which is playable on the curve (by Xillisoft mp4 for mac), video and audio seem out of sync (29.97 FPS is not fast enough?), and it looks like a bad double movie.  And this was after scouring the Blackberry site for video/audio parameters optimum and only to find optimal for the "8100" and "8800"... nothing for the curve settings!

Can anyone make any suggestions on software, techniques, management, etc.?
