partition creation

I bought a laptop hp 15 t-j100 quad reissue. I want to create a partition for the HDD, but the PC already has 4 partition for recovery.

1. healthy recovery of 400 MB partition

2,260 MB EFI system partition

3. 908 GB C:

4. 22 GB D: Recover

What should I do to create a new partition to manage my data?

Hello

You have created your partition recovery on DVD? You can reduce your C drive by lets say 100 GB and then create the new partition with the 100 GB unallocated space won. You just need to assign the New Partition a drive letter, let Z and your done.

    I have a * Toshiba Satelite P200 *.

Norton has expired recently, within hours of the expiry I seemed to have a Trojan horse. I think it is W32/IRCbot.worm (his supposition a little!) because it seems to be popping up again.
It also caused my computer to restart, as in the description of viruses.

I had tried recovery and recovery disks but received this error initializing the partition has been:

    Failed to create the partition.

I then tried a full erase with the TOSHIBA recovery disks, it took hours 18 or more, but ended up with the same error message as above.

I do not have data importiant (transferred all externally) and I'd like to start over again. I'd love you long if all-in-one could suggest anything.

To make clean OS install with media recovery is not a problem, and you can't do anything wrong. I recommend you do the little test and install the operating system without creating any partition. Start the recovery procedure, choose the language and simply continue without using the SETUP button.

Please can report you if the recovery procedure completes successfully?

To be honest, if you can't install the OS via recovery DVD disc there is not much to do and you need to clarify this with the service provider authorized in your country. Either they will test with other discs or experiment with new HARD drive. I don't see any other solution here.

  • Satellite M305D-S4830: error recovery - Partition creation failed

    Computer: PC Toshiba laptop
    Model: Satellite M305D-S4830

Problem: Originally windows wouldn't start; so I decided I would try reformatting it to solve the problem.
First of all, I erased the hard disk; now, I'm trying to use the "TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard" provided with the laptop for reinstalling the operating system, but end up getting the following:

    "ERROR: 08 - 0 74-0000.
    Failed to create partition. »

p.s. I've tried formatting using the command prompt, but it says format failed after choosing a volume name.

p.s. #2 when I run the Startup Repair tool, I get the error that the volume is corrupt

I noticed there is a hidden partition called X: where there is a backup of the operating system out-of-box, but have no idea how I could use this backup to possibly restore windows...

    What should I do?

I think the problem is the partition on your HARD drive.
You said erase the hard drive, well, this might be the reason why the recovery is not working as it should.

In my opinion full HARD drive must be formatted again (all partitions must be removed and formatted too.).
Perhaps you could use an original disc of Microsoft (Win XP CD) to format the HARD drive and you can then use the Toshiba Recovery disk to recover the laptop again!

  • Partition creation number using restore on HP Workstation Z600 DVD

Shrink is about one half (230 GB).
Please suggest how to fill the requirement.

Three things could be at the origin of the process of shrinkage will not get the C partition to the desired size.  No movable files will not allow the score to shrink down in many cases.  I came across this problem, try to adapt the C on an SSD partition.

    1. the file hibernation---> turning off hibernation and restarting will solve this problem

2 points of C partition restore---> Turn off system protection for the partition C (turn back on later)

    3. the virtual memory of the system file can also be a problem.  You can set paging to use NONE, then restart your computer.  Don't forget to put back it on later and let Windows manage the size.

The above all three suggestions refer to files not movable and where there may be the file on the C partition.

The device must as well be greater than 5 GB, but also be a physical hard disk for scratch partition to be created. If on USB, there is not a scratch partition little matter the size of the USB unit.

  • New Partition under Vista

How to make the New Partition of existing partition in windows vista home edition?

How to make the extended partition?

    Hi Nicole,.

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

My understanding of your message, it is that you are willing to REDUCE your current Partition to make a new partition of space it is?  I want a full clarification before provide you specific instructions of what you're trying to do, so I won't give you instructions on something different then exactly what you expect.
    If this is correct;

Here are the steps on how to go about the reduction of your current partition and then create a new partition in the space that became available after the reduction of this partition.

    1. Make a good backup of your system on an external device.

(Click on key E - made Windows right click on the drive you want to save and select Properties, in the tab tool select BACKUP now - follow the Backup Wizard to back up your files to an external device).

    1. Make a point of good your system restore if you need to send back to him at any time after this process.

Once backup/restore point in place, we can start working on the reduction of the volume, and then if you want new partition creation.

Click on start ORB / right click on computer and select manage / disk management module, you can find the disk that contains the partition in the gray box at the bottom of the window.

Right click on the partition and select Shrink Volume / he'll consider available disk space, and then submit the size of available shrink the partition by.  Then in the field, it will provide for type the amount you want to shrink the partition of the space.

In the example, the size of available free 21525 MB of space / enter the amount to shrink in MB ___mb.

Once you have entered the amount you want to reduce the volume by, select SHRINK.

It will take a while so he can shrink this partition, and when that happens, it will leave you can do a new partition on the UNALLOCATED SPACE.

To make the new partition to the UNALLOCATED SPACE, right-click on this space and select NEW SIMPLE VOLUME.  Follow the wizard to create the size of the partition, drive letter, FORMAT VOLUME until the process is complete.

Please let us know if this information was useful or if additional information is required.

  • I deleted the partition system, pure can not install Win 7 Pro because of the error message

So, I tried to install Windows 10 on a friends old PC (acer aspire 5920g). I bought a new SSD and traded with the HARD disk, performed a clean install of win 10 and realized that I should return to Win 7 after that too many things were not working well. So, I formatted the disk (230 GB) and system reserved partition. (I took the SSD and put it in an external enclosure that I have connected to my PC to 10 Win.)
I didn't know much about this system reserved partition but read that it didn't really need when you want to perform a clean installation of another OS. After the partition reserved for formatting system, he said 500 GB of unallocated space. I didn't quite understand that the reader is a 240 GB Sandisk SSD. I put the other (230GB) partition to active and primary with the management tool disc to win 10.
I put in the Win 7 DVD and change the setting of this kind it would be DVD first the bios startup. However, the Win 7 installation dialog does not appear at all. Instead BACK gives me this message: 'an operating system not found. Try disconnecting all drives that do not contain an operating system. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart. »

I tried different startup commands but did not get any result. What should I do next? How can I make a simple clean install of Windows 7 Pro (on the new SSD)?

There are no problems reported by those who follow these steps for a Clean install Windows 10 Upgrade

then you might want to try again and this time stick to these steps.

Otherwise clean reinstall Windows 7 you can turn on with the installation media checked in the player by pressing F12 to Acer to get a Boot Menu, choose the bootable media, custom Setup, to the selection screen of disc to remove all partitions until the unallocated space, and then click next to leave automatic formatting and start the installation.  With the Installer do the partition creation and formatting avoid you unnecessary problems second guess the necessary system partitions and you can ignore all this.

All the other things you did remove the HDD to format in another PC were unnecessary because that's all that is needed.  If other installation problems arise when it's properly you must follow these additional steps to fix failed Installation Windows 7 , that cover all possible problems.

  • Cannot complete the recovery process after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

I changed my hard drive it for 15 days because he showed abnormalities, so I bought a new hard drive Seagate Western brand with the same technical characteristics as the existing hard drive (product for the product).

I was then on TOSHIBA HDD RECOVERY to burn to CD system recovery disks, then I went to replace the hard drive.

After the change, I raised my PC with system restore CD.
The procedure is successfully completed and orders of comments asking me to remove the disk and restart the PC.

I raise the PC, everything goes well, launch windows, installation of perfect records system then comes the stage of installation and settings of the system here after the error message:

"Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on the hardware in the computer."

Then it asks me to restart, then it comes back every time on this message, I'm stuck on this step.
I tried to change the mode of the disc source hard 'compatibility' instead of 'AHCI' but it's even worse, it completely without error buggy.

Please give me an explanation of this phenomenon.

    Sincerely.

    Guillaume

Have you tried to repeat the whole recovery procedure?
If this is not the case, do.

I recommend to format the whole HARD drive and create an NTFS partition.
Then start the laptop using the Toshiba Recovery disk and start the recovery procedure.

I read about the problem of disk HARD similar in the past and especially NFS partition creation has helped to solve these problems.

  • Satellite A660 - 18 BIOS update & fails (re-visited) HARD drive recovery

Referring to an old thread from my friends...

I tried earlier to update the BIOS of v1.80 for v1.90 (whether by the automatic update tool Service Station and the direct download of the update of the BIOS).

Whenever the update of the BIOS ran, he abandoned arguing that the battery was low (it was not), alternating current was not on (it is) and the existing BIOS version was superior to the new version (it wasn't).

The real problem seems to be that the version of the BIOS (as shown in "Toshiba HWSetup") is:

    + The BIOS version = V234567890. 00/00/00000000000 +.
    + Version EC = 1.80 +.

However, in the Diagnostic PC Toshiba tool the BIOS version on the page of basic information is correctly reported as 1.80

At the point where I couldn't be worth blat my disc with the original image and try again. I was hoping that Toshiba would set the BIOS update to fix the problem. Didn't happen.

They released v2.00 BIOS in June 2011 and would not always up to date. So I backed up my data and tried to blat of the machine to factory State. What a nightmare...

The recovery image doesn't work well at all!

The first bit works (the original partition creation and image copy), but after the startup of Windows and the script factory Toshiba intervenes, all sorts of problems begin.

First of all, the thing stuck several times in a process of "assessment of system performance. This happens in several phases of reboots because the drivers are installed. Then there's a bunch of bug script error messages and DMI analyze the errors you will need to click on ' close and do not report the crash "type dialog. What makes it more difficult is that the Toshiba factory configuration script sets up a blank page trying to see you on what the bureau is to be avoided. Even if you try to pass in the Manager of tasks to complete the process deadlocked, it gives you a few seconds grace before forcing the Office to lock and hide behind the white screen again. If you're quick and good time, you can stop the evaluation of performance at a standstill (I think it's just the thing to the Windows Experience score). Same thing to reject the other boxes of error...

Finally, I arrived at the end of the script and the machine was built with all of the original software.

The program HWSetup still reports the version of BIOS of nonsense and the PC Diagnostic tool always reports it correctly.

The Service Station program now does not even start. It crashes with a message + "request the Toshiba Service Station could not initialize. Try to restart or reinstall the application. » +. I downloaded the last being on the website and installed... To be hosted later with the same message.

Program update direct BIOS for v2.00 made his usual thing you ask that the current BIOS version is greater than 200 and abandonment.

I even read in a FAQ that some recovery routines do not work correctly with more than 4 GB of RAM (I have 8 GB). So I did all of this once again with only 4 GB installed and the script was just as broken for 4 GB 8 GB.

I ran PC complete diagnosis for machine test suite and it turned up nothing.

A little confused now... Maybe time to log a failure while I have a few more months of warranty left. But the machine actually works, just can't update the BIOS. Would be my luck if a problem arose just after the warranty has expired, and they said 'just update the BIOS...

In front of me, I 3 laptop years. Over the past three years, Toshiba has offered 3 BIOS updates. I don t care about it and still use the original version that I got with my laptop. I want to say, why change anything and start this risky If update everything works fine and it does.

Several times I have read here that people write about the problems of updating the BIOS and damaged BIOS. This risk does not apply to me just having the latest version.

Anyway, if you want to have all past orders on your laptop, it is without a doubt your legitimate right. In General, the BIOS updates are tested before Toshiba offers for download so I really put t understand why you have this kind of problems. The problem with the installation of recovery is also strange.

A few months ago, a friend of mine bought A660 and I helped him create recovery DVDs, and we also tested the recovery procedure everything including the three options:
    Back to out-of-box state
Recover without changing the hard drive partitions
    Get a custom size partition

Everything worked perfectly so I m really confused about everything you write.

Unfortunately, I can't help you with this. When I could have your laptop in front of me to see exactly what is happening, it will be much easier to understand all of this.
I updated the BIOS on different laptops, and I got lucky because every time that everything was fine.

Your laptop is guaranteed valid so I recommend you contact Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for assistance.

  • Pagefile.sys: it can be turned off the C drive?

I'm running out of space on C:, and I think I read somewhere that the system works better if the pagefile is not on the same partition as the operating system.  No matter what I do there still seems to be a file called pagefile.sys on drive C.  I use 2 GB of ram on a 64 bit windows system (core 2 duo Intel E4300 1.8 ghz cpu.)  What should I do?

UPDATE: before I did not put the swap file correctly. I put it now on drive D (separate hard drive), but its on the same partition as all my texts and media files.  Don't know how much difference that will make.  When I find a reliable partition creation program, I'll put in a separate partition.  In any case, the pagefile.sys file is now off the C drive.  So it makes sense.  My mistake.

I just wanted to clarify for other users.
