I use Acronis to back up my data to an external drive and when I make a backup of the system, it will also on an external drive.

My problem is that my system partition fills up. When I check the size of each folder in the score, it's no where near 138 GB. I perform a cleanup and can pick up a small amount of space, but not enough about to get out of danger.  I know that the operating system is no where near that big.

I read another post about similar problems and proposed solution seems to be; allocate more space. Yes, I could do it, but I don't think it's the right solution. Something is gobbling up space, but I can't understand that. Is there a tool I can use to understand what is happening and correct the problem?

  • Partition of table reorganization

    Hello

I have a pretty large table with the partition of the range. The person who ran a database before me, left huge amount of data in the default partition as existing partitioned filled and he did not create the new partition. Now, I'm putting together this table. The default partition has about 70 million lines. I want to know what will be the most effective way to carry out this exercise? the table has a primary key, foreign key, and also some other indexes on that.

In the test environment, I created new partitions. Data copied from the default partition in 6 temporary tables. Copy takes about 8 hours. Now, I'm debating if I should truncate data from default partition and move the lines of time tables created back into the new partitions by writing insert query? I know it's easier way out, but not the most effective way.

Another option I'm considering is, use datapump to export the data from the partition and then import, but I have not tried this? Can you show me or direct me to an example where the datapump is used to export and import a partition.

What is the table the original table DDL?

What is the DDL of the new test table?

What data is in each of 6 temporary tables?

If each of 6 temporary tables has data belonging to a single NEW partition then just use EXCHANGE PARTITION.

    1. create 6 new partitions in the table

2 make a swap partition between each of the 6 new partitions and the corresponding temporary table is not partitioned.

Trade is expected to take less than a second because they are updates only data dictionary.

  • Why does windows partition hard disk of 500 GB so that 60 GB fills the drive c, then d ' drive is empty (295 GB free)?

    Original title: hard drive partition

Why does windows partition hard disk of 500 GB so that 60 GB fills the drive c, then d ' drive is empty (295 GB free)?

It depends entirely on the Installer Windows at your partition layout described no.1 is not standard.

By default on a totally blank disk Windows 7 installation will create two partitions. A system reservedMB 100 partition which will not have any drive letter and is not normally visible on computer. The rest of the disk will be the operating system.

Your drive C is 60GB because someone chose her for this size. It seems that if the computer has been upgraded, 60 GB would have been appropriate for Windows XP.

  • HP G70-460US. new hard drive. How to create a partition recorvery and fill?

I have a laptop HPG70 with Windows Vista 64 Bit OS, which has had problems with disks-errors.  I used Clickfree backup completely my computer every week, so I decided to buy a NEW hard drive and recreate the image on my computer on the new drive.   I was surprised to find that the instuction to boot from USB attached CLICKFREE device would NOT work on HP laptops!   I had to reinstall the old drive, join the CLICKFREE webside and create a Bootable CD with the software easyfix to completely recreate the image on my computer.   After the re-installation of the new drive and about 2 hours, the drive of my computer has been completely restored... Hooray!

I was reading the docs from HP on the creation of a DVD cover, just in case catastrophic anothor disk HARD crash, so I decided to create a set of recovery discs as directed by the video...  I had never created these because when I bought my computer, I don't have any DVD to create.

I watched 'MY COMPUTER' and I saw that there is a recovery partition (D: on 12 concerts) and open and it just says HP, so I decided to go ahead.

When I started the recovery disc creation program, it gave me the error message that it wasn't any how restore partition and wouldn't create any DVD.  I don't have a DVD in the drive, when I started to deal with because I thought he'd JUMP full disc when it started, but never that which until now...

How can I start creating the recovery discs when the recovery disc creation program says there is nothing there?

This is NOT official HP customer service and I, like most other people on this forum do not work for HP. It is a forum for users of peer-to-peer supported for class for the HP consumer products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Response of an employee of HP represents his own opinion and not that of HP.

Given that I do not work for HP and I do not use "Clickfree", I won't be able to figure this out for yourself, or a company. What I can tell you is that when installing a new operating system, an upgrade, or an imaging / backups, pointers on the recovery Partition are lost. By following the steps that I have to offer, most people are able to recover his computer to a factory condition.

The way I would try it, is to make sure that you have a fully functional backup of your operating system partition and all data. Then I would try a recovery using the "HP Recovery Manager'... then 'F11'... and finally, marking the"HP Recovery patition"as active. One of these methods must recover the computer. Once restored, you should be able to create a set of HP recovery disks.

  • Move the data from the partitions again tablespace - direct table filled by ETL

    Hello

We have a large composite table date-range/hash partitioned table (using time partitioning 11.2.0.3 range)

1 partition for each month and each such partition 4 under separate partitions.

We want to move some data from most significant storage but also direct table and inserted in all the days as part of the data warehouse and large table want to ensure

Suppose also should not take long to run lines 40 million or more each month.

4 global index which would eventually rebuild afterwards due to the transition if movement makes no valid.

Several local bitmap indexes that belong to partitions.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you

I agree in a good store of data, everything should be according to the best practices ETL or guideline. I guess it is a FACT table, because it's big enough. A method that I can share (followed in the real world big DW) is "ELP" IE Partition Exchange loading. You can find the basic architecture of the Internet.

    The basic architecture is as

The source (in your case partitioned) Table--> (unpartitioned) intermediate Table--> Table possible target (partitioned)--> the cleaning activities (and overtime).

You can use any ETL tool for this (I won't mention any other reasons).

Later, you can delete the original table and use that new table as your FACT table, your application will be available all the time. There are drawbacks as most uses of double-spaced, other than normal ETL these work will take certain amount of resources so that other ALS etc. In addition, if you load a few current days during these activities you plan / program accordingly.

Your demo is also fine, but regular ETL may fail because you rename the partitions (some uses of ETL tool partition name, in case you ever ELP) also unusable global indexes can cause failure (you have local too?).

  • Problems with Partitions

Hello. I am trying to download an update for a program that I use frequently. The program can run only on a sensitive file system without respect, so it does not work on my main partition. I partitioned a second disc which is not case sensitive so I could download it. This partition is now saturated. I tried more space partitioning but disk utility says "this partition is not modifiable.". Here is a screenshot of disk utility. What can I do to get more space for my second partition? I tried to make a third partition, which was case-insensitive as well to try to merge together, but disk utility says "this partition is not modifiable." Help, please?

  • Deleted partition BOOTCAMP capacity entered Recovery HD

I am facing a weird problem and it is honestly driving me crazy!

I had a partition bootcamp (80 GB) with Windows 7 installed for a while. Then I tried to delete this partition using Bootcamp Assistant of Apple, but I have encountered an error and was not able to do. So I decided to start in Recovery Mode, formatted the BOOTCAMP partition in the hope that I would be more able to merge with my Macintosh HD one.

I managed to do it, which means that I then had Macintosh HD on one side and a BOOTCAMP partition go 80 empty on the other.

However, something was not trying to group them together and for some reason, I now have a capacity of 420 GB displayed on Macintosh HD (same as before), no BOOTCAMP partition remain always displayed and order diskutil list showing me 80 GB for Apple Recovery HD (which correspond to my initial BOOTCAMP capability):

    ~ diskutil list

    / dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * GB 500,3 disk0

    1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

    2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 419,4 GB disk0s2

    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 80.5 GB disk0s3

When I run the option first aid in Apple SSD disk utility, I get the following:

My only wish is to be able to recover my full 500 GB on Macintosh HD for later use bootcamp again and install Windows 10.

Looking forward to any kind of help,

    Thank you in advance.

Save all your data, preferably twice and independent from each other. Format the drive and reinstall the OS from scratch and restore your data. Alternatively, if you are comfortable using the command line this syntax comes into play:

    diskutil resizeVolume peripheral [ limits |] MapSize | R | size [numberOfPartitions]

    [part1Format part1Name part1Size part2Format part2Name

    part2Size part3Format part3Name part3Size...] ]

No destructive resize a volume (partition); You can

increase or decrease its size. On the other hand, takes no action

    and print some info.

A size of the limits takes no action, but instead will print the

target range of valid values for the score, taking into

conditions account file system and partition from the current map

as files used and other partitions (buildings) following the

    target.

A size of mapsize takes no action, but instead will print the

size of the device disc set covering, as well as the

map of entire partition size (all partitions less map

(overhead). The whole-disk device may be larger than the by -.

competition card if the entire disk device has increased since the party-

tion map was created. More a whole-disk device is possible

with some drives (RAID) business systems.

You can grow a volume (partition) (back) to its maximum size

possible, provided no new partitions have been created, which

are in the way, by specifying R for the new size of the volume. You

must use R instead of trying a value such as

100% because the latter cannot count fresh generals score card.

To decrease the size, new partitions may be

created to fill the recently released space.  To do this, specify

the numberOfPartitions, format, name, and size settings in

the same way as the description of triplet for the

    partitionDisk verb.

Resize a volume that is currently defined as the computer

Startup disk will invalidate this setting; use the Startup

Disc Bless or system preferences panel (8) to reset the

resized volume as the boot disk.

Device refers to a volume; file system of the volume must be

logging HFS +.  Valid sizes are a number followed by a capital

Letter from Tal multiplier or percent sign suffix as described in

the section SIZES at the end of this page (e.g. 1-5 t, 128 M,

50%).  Property of the disc is needed.

  • partitioning of SSDS

I replace my internal drive of the 2011 MBP with an SSD. My main use of this computer is for music and audio.

Should I partition a 1 TB SSD or not?   And if so, what is the best practice?

    Thank you

    -Thom

You are likely to get different answers and all will probably correct academically.

Create several partitions on a physical disk is good for organizing purposes, the primary limitations to a hard drive still exists, so you do not win the benefits as you would with 2 hard disks physically different. If you have two hard disks, the answer would be different. What you'll find is if you create two partitions later we're going to fill and you will manage how to remedy and will be the most inopportune (murphy's law).

So I would create one partition - the speed of the SSD, far outweighs the benefits of multiple partitions on a single disk and you will make less headaches in the long run.

    Just my two cents.
