Password BIOS in Portege R500

Hello!
I found my old laptop, but cannot start - forgotten BIOS password. Disconnect CMOS battery did not help.
Local support asked me to service offline, but they want too much money to unlock - this laptop is now less expensive itself.
Support of the USA asked me write here
May be someone can help generate answers unlock code?
Model is Portege R500 PPR50E-06W012RU

Protection of the BIOS is a very important feature for protection, so it cannot be discussed in the public forum.
If someone writes here how you can remove the password BIOS all stolen Portege R500 can be unlocked.

I know that it costs a bit, but this should be done by the authorized service provider.

  • Remove admin password in the BIOS in Portege R500

I am trying to disable the admin password in the BIOS of my laptop series r500, * and I know * current password.

I tried the procedure from the following post, who works to disable the user password. It basically involves change the empty password.
But it does not work for the admin password:

    [http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=141587𢤓 | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=141587𢤓]

I initially allowed because I wanted to see if there is 'hidden' in my BIOS options (long story... tried to get virtualization extensions to work).
Now I have to type it every time I turn on my laptop, which is quite annoying.

Someone has any suggestions, how to get around this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

You mean the admin account password, which must be defined during the installation of the OS?
This password cannot be disabled in the BIOS!

But if you talk to supervisor password then I would recommend checking the utility called preinstalled Toshiba password tool.
You should find it in the utility folder Toshiba.

The password of Toshiba utility allows you to set, delete, and change the password user and supervisor.

    Check it!

  • Reset password BIOS on Portege M400 - manufacturer of Bios?

I have a Toshiba M400 and I was wondering how do I reset the bios password. I disabled the finger print scanner recently because I decided that I no longer need, but he always asks for a bios password which I forgot. I used just swipe my finger and it let me boot up and all that gravey.

If you guys know how to reset the password. Either physically, or through software, would be great.

Or if you know the guy who is the manufacturer of the bios for the Portege M400 I could probebly give them a call and ask myself.

I could send it, but I want to avoid this and leave as a last resort.

BTW, this laptop was purchased in the United States.

You will not be able to remove the BIOS password yourself if you forgot it.
As far as I know the BIOS that was preinstalled on Portege M400 is... Toshiba ;)

If you need to contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and only these guys are able to remove the BIOS password you forgot.

  • No option of virtualization in the BIOS with the Portege R500

    Hello

Thought I'd post a new thread as the old man seems to be dead...

I just want to know if someone has been able to use an extensions of virtualization Portege R500 processor, Linux, Windows or any other OS. I guess that this will become a requirement of mainstream with windows 7 now out.

If you have been able to use it, could you please put your laptop model correct (it should be on a sticker on the bottom)

This was my original post, showing that the CPU must support her:

I HAV a Portege R500 (or a model equivalent, bought the Japan), v BIOS 1.60 and everytime I try to use applications that supports virtualization extensions, I can't. I use linux as my OS, and he tells me that the virtualization extensions have been disabled by the BIOS.

However, I can't find an option for this in the BIOS! R500 manual (form available from the toshiba support area), there should be an option, just after "core multi processing", I can see:

    Virtualization technology
Sets of virtualization technologies enable or disable the Intel Virtualization
    Technology installed in the processor.
Virtualization technology Intel is the technique that allows a machine to
operated under the name of multiple virtual machines.
Virtualization technology is compatible with some models.
The disabled command does not use the Intel Virtualization
    Technology.
The use of Intel Virtualization Technology Enabled command.
    Virtualization technology allows.
    Activated
    Disables (default) virtualization technology.
    People with disabilities

    But it isn't here!

In addition, I see that virtualization is supported by the processor - the 'vmx' flag is present. The processor is model U7600, it should be supported. You can see from the Intel Web site:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLV3W

Anyone know if it is available through he windows BIOS app (although it is not documented in the manual)? Anyone know if it is possible to contact Toshiba and ask them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Are you sure there is NO virtualization option in the BIOS?
Have you checked all the pages?

I found your other thread on the clearing of password and you said this doesn t work, but maybe it works you need to check the VT option yet!

More as you say, the processor must support the VT to VT option in the BIOS the Intel Core 2 Duo processor ULV U7600 support VT

As far as I know there are also a few sets of cell phones where the VT option is not available in the BIOS, but if the processor takes in charge the VT VT is enabled by default as well as the VT option is not present in the BIOS.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Unfortunately, no one here can help you with this. BIOS password is very important security feature, and it cannot be resolved in some public forums.
This can be solved with only authorized service.

Response code can be given only by Toshiba and they don't give it to anyone. Authorized service provider can only get it after checking if the laptop has not been stolen.
Contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and they can help you wth this.

    Bye and good luck.

  • Portege R500 - cannot remove the password user and supervisor

Hoping someone can help me with a problem,

I voluntarily put a password for user and supervisor on one of our Portege R500.
I know what the password is, but I just want to remove so that I am not prompted for the password whenever the laptop is turned on.

I seem to be unable to disable this feature, which is a problem that the laptop is about to be reassigned to a differnet use that would be impractical for users to have to put a password on startup.

He must have a way to disable the password requirement.

Of course, you can disable this password. Just use the same way you used to.
It can be done using Toshiba Assist > Secure. You used this way to get into these options, you?

  • Portege R500 - no response from user password

Having just taken delivery of a new Portege R500, I tried to make a bluetooth connection when a screen came and asked to set up an administrator and user password. I have set up the password of the user only, typing in only once (but did not arise to confirm). When I turned on the computer again, there was a request for password in the upper right corner. But when I typed in it, nothing happens outside of the computer go after 3 attempts.

It's the password but I've noticed that when I was putting the origin of the series of * only appeared with the second letter. Is there a simple solution or do I return to the dealers? I have no data on it have only added programs to date.

    Thanks for any advice.

If there is nothing especially on the HARD drive, I recommend you use the recovery image and make the clean OS install. After doing this there's second chance to establish a Bluetooth connection.

  • Portege R500 - keyboard USB Legacy support does not work

    I have a Portege R500-124

I use it to dock in the office and the lid is closed, so I need to enter a password for DriveCrypt and generally control the boot/BIOS from a USB keyboard. But no matter what I set the setting that is inherited from the USB in the BIOS, the USB keyboard does not work. I tried the keyboard connected directly to the R500 when undocked and it's all the same. I also tried BIOS 1.6 and that's all the same.

USB keys are working and I can boot from them, but no work of measures (for example, F12 to choose the BOOT device) keyboard - the R500 doesn't seem to have the functional USB keyboard support until an operating system (Windows or Linux) has started.

    Any ideas?

    Ian

    > .the R500 does not appear to be the functional USB keyboard support until an operating system (Windows or Linux) has started.

I can't confirm this, but I'm afraid you're right about that.

I downloaded the last update, but it has not solved the problem.

Why do you think that it s a problem?

  • Portege R500-S5001X will not start

My Portege R500 arrested last night when displaying "my pictures" and I was not able to do restart upward.

I removed the battery and turn the direct power, but when I power on I get the Toshiba with "Intel" page in the lower right and five icons feature lower downtown.

It will not boot to Windows, I know I should know, but I "think" it works under XP.

I have no recovery disks, he passed to us my father in law a few years ago and no supported drives has come that I can find.

    Can someone help please!

    Thank you
    Tim

    Hey,.

Can you please verify certain things?

You can start in safe mode? After you have powered on the notebook press key F8 to access the Windows Advanced Boot menu and select mode.

If you cannot access the t Windows Advanced Boot menu, you must check the BIOS if the HARD drive is recognized correctly.

  • Portege R500 - maximum external screen resolution is only 1280 x 1024

    Hi all

I just ordered R500 (WinVista), and a 20 "external monitor (connected via a VGA cable) BENQ G2020HDA (1600 x 900 native). However, the maximum resolution for external panels (installed correct driver) alloved by Vista (parameters > monitor) is 1280 X 1024 :-(((.))

Do anyone have some tips, how to increase the resolution of the external monitor with this ntb Portege R500 (BIOS 1.6)?

    Thx for your help!

Have you tried to update the display driver? You can find it on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Remove the old display driver in Add/Remove programs and then restart the computer and install the new driver to display on the Toshiba site.

If it doesn't work you should try to update the BIOS. You can also find it on the Toshiba site.

    Good luck!

  • Portege R500 - start of fingerprinting release

    Greetings.

I have a problem with my Porteg R500 with HARD drive. I activated the "Single Sign on" in order to use my fingerprint only once a boot, the heading "Power Pre-os by fingerprints" (TrueSite Access Manager software).
When I turn on my laptop, after the BIOS check, I wonder to slide my finger on the sensor. I do, but the system hangs upward, with the screenshot of software TrueSite still. No way to use the keyboard (without CTRL-ALT-DEL allowed; if you press CAPS LOCK, SHIFT, there no led lights, etc.), and he remains hung up that I've shut it down by holding the power button.

Anyone know what's the problem? My BIOS firmware is updated (version 1.60)

    Thank you.

    Hello

Has this issue been published since the beginning? I mean from day of purchase?

In my view the OS and Access Manager software TrueSite is confused upward.
Who knows why, but I think you have to use your Toshiba recovery disc and put the laptop to the factory setting.
Then update the AuthenTec fingerprint software.

Then, you can follow with the configuration of the fingerprint as described in the help of AuthenTec.

I think you should check this!

  • Re: Installation of Win XP on Portege R500 12 q

    Hello
I would like to install Microsoft Win XP on my Portege R500 12 q (128 GB SSD drive)

If I start the installation of the CD, there is normally the possibilety to install a third-party driver through by pressing F6. But the problem is, that nothing happens if I press F6 at this time (tried more than once).
OK if I wait, I get the possibilety to specify the mass storage, because the installation program does not find any. If I want to install the drivers now, is the only possibilety to install drive A: (floppy drive) but I don't have a floppy drive.
I have not found the driver SSD - to the Hompage, but I think that it is included in the Matrix Storage Manager, isn't it?

It is really difficult to install Win XP on a SSD? Please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    Greetings
    Stefan

    > Ok if I wait, I get the option of specifying mass storage, because the Setup program does not find any. If I want to install the drivers now, the only possibility is to install from drive A: (floppy drive), but I put t have a floppy drive.
If you want to include the SATA driver using the F6 option then you MUST USE the floppy drive. But if you have a USB floppy drive, then you can use nLite software to include the SATA drivers in the new created XP CD.
The SATA driver is part of the Intel storage Manger and you can download if from here:

    [Intel storage utility eat 32-bit Configuration diskette (201ko) 8.6.0.1007 | http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=/17061/eng/f6flpy3286.zip&DwnldId=17061&ProductID=2101&lang=e ng]

For more information about nLite Internet search!

    > If I change the setting again in the bios I always get a blue screen, but I can't install the driver of the matrix (SSD) as long as I n t, setting change and I think I don t use the SSD speed possible.
It is clear. You will always get a BSOD if you would replace the SATA mode in the BIOS after installing any OS. If you have installed the operating system, you can not change the SATA mode in the BIOS.
But if you want to change it again once, then you will need to install the new OS using the SATA drivers
