  HI: I was read the readme for Patch # 9371120, but do not understand what follows: = 9.  Apply for prior updates.   Excerpt (jar xvf) the new $SRCHOME/webservices/lib/orasaaj.jar update the orasaaj.jar with the 2 new class order of uvf jar files oracle/j2ee/ws/saaj/util/NamespaceStack.class oracle/j2ee/ws/saaj/util/XMLWriter.class use = we don't have $SRCHOME you get a lot for your help.

  We are not the ones got confused of the readme!

  Before you answer just thought that this patch is to confirm, so clicking on the patch took me to the patch download page where I noticed this discussion (can be found in readme and download buttons) on same "confusion".

• Question about R12.2.0 to R12.2.3

  Hello:

  I'm being upgraded from R12.2.0 to R12.2.3, I saw the R12.2.3 Doc ID upgrade:1586214.1 and according to this Id Doc step 4 is to apply the latest pub & T2K delta release packs of update of https://support.oracle.com/rs?type=doc & id = ID:1617461.1Doc ID:1617461.1and I saw this Doc Id but this applies to the version of the database and in our case 11.2.0.4 the version of the database is 11.2.0.3.

  
  

  My question, can I use this https://support.oracle.com/rs?type=doc & id = 1617461.1Doc ID 1617461.1 to apply the latest pub & T2K delta patches or I have to apply the Doc ID 1586217.1 to apply the AD & T2K patches. Please let me know what ID Doc should I apply for the upgrade to 12.2.3 on 11.2.0.3 database and at this stage, we expect to upgrade the database to 11.2.0.4.

  It's probably a typo as AD/T2K Delta 5 does not require the database either on 11.2.0.4 and it can be applied on the 11.2.0.3/11.2.0.4 (as further stated in the RFSO, under "2. (Apply the technology needed fixes"section).

• question of R12 DR eBS

  We are in the process of implementation of DR to our Production eBS R12 environment, our Prod is currently as below

  PROD-

  OS: RHEL 5.11

  eBS: 12.1.3

  DB: 11.2.0.4

  Catalog RMAN DB

  OS: RHEL 5.11

  DB: 11.2.0.4

  We use the catalog db to back up our database of PROD and db itself catalogue is supported by rman.

  Now, I am the rest of the document ' Business Continuity for Oracle E-Business release 12.1 Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Physical Standby Database (Doc ID 1070033.1) ' understand the concept and use it as a reference.

  
  

  But I have question about the catalog RMAN DB. Apart from BSE synchronized to DR server, I plan to create a catalog rman standby server and will be this synchronization of production so rman.

  Reason I think is so we have our eBS and RMAN catalog getting synchronized production and accident permanently, I simple raise these two databases on the site of the disaster. Thus backup can continue as usual.

  --> There is not as the good or bad approach. Given the DR for the catalog database RMAN in my opinion is unnecessary. It's just more maintenance and fees. Instead, I follow below process provided by Oracle in the documentation.

  Follow these steps when developing a strategy for RMAN backup to the recovery catalog database:
  Run the database catalog of recovery in ARCHIVELOG mode, so that you can do point-in-time recovery if necessary.
  Set the retention policy to REDUNDANCY greater than 1.
  Back up the database on two separate media (for example, disks and tapes).
  Run the BACKUP of DATA PLUS ARCHIVELOG at regular intervals, to a Media Manager if available, or simply to drive.
  Do not use another catalog of recovery as a repository for backups.
  Configure automatic backup of the control file you.

  Check patches (adoption-status) without previous state, I applied a fix to help:

  But I got the following error:

• CPU patch vs PSU in R12

  Asked me to apply patch PSU April 2014. I just applied CPU January 2014. I thought that we can apply only CPU or power supply. Can I apply PSU?

  the file has the following permissions:
  -rw - 1 toolbs6 s/n 46724 12 Apr 07:19 p4238286_11i_GENERIC.zip
  
  If the user of the application on the target EPS which is applbs6:dba has no right to decompress the file.
  
  So, how can I change the rights persiions by default when creating file when the patch is downloaded?

  Yesterday I installed a small OPatch on our Oracle 10 g Server
  
  We were on Oracle 10.2.0.5.0 and I installed O Patch 10.2 .0.5.6
  
  All installed successfully, but it seems that we are always on 10.2.0.5.0? Unless it's the expected behavior? I get the version v $version and v$ instance views (see below)

  1. you updated OPatch and not the database
  2. its planned, patchsets won't affect the 5th section of the version number in the database views (so after installation for example 10.2.0.5.2, the database will always show 10.2.0.5.0)

  As a prereq for 12i I sucessfully installded GNUmake
  build_w32.bat ends to be excluded.
  
  Then run the installer quick and got this rezult
  + "gnumake" is not available.

  I stuck Gnumake.exe in cygdrive/Windows32 and cygdrive/C:\msvc\Common7\IDE and I passed the test of preinstallation setup quick test.
  This is not the right way to do it though, is it?

  It is right, and everything's good about it. However, if you have Cygwin installed in the directory "C:\cygwin", you just make "C:\cygwin\bin" exists in the system path.

  Use the patchsets.sh script, it should tell you the Group of hotfixes you are on for each module, and what is the last group of patches available on Metalink.
